  1. Thanks for that link. Looking at the SPC website parts of SNE are in the slight risk category for severe weather. There are some good dynamics with this cold front and I am thinking there could be a few strong thunderstorms across parts of SNE. I am not buying severe weather at this time but if the sun could break through the clouds then things could get interesting.
With that said thunderstorm index at a 1 for now.

  2. In Budapest now. Great city.

The TK forecast and MY COMMENTS:

Budapestโ€ฆ Getting a bit out of sensible forecasting range now but Iโ€™ll take a stab at it, based on having some experience forecasting the crop areas around here for many years. I think it will be dry 28-29 Sep, with a shower or thunderstorm threat toward the last day 30 Sep as youโ€™ll be between high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west. This region should be warm, mid to upper 70s each day, maybe even touching 80, which would be about a dozen degrees above normal. FOR THE 28TH AND 29TH, FORECAST ON THE MONEY. TEMPS IN LOW 80’S, NO WIND, NO REAL HUMIDITY.

  3. I just got through watching Henry Margusity’s video from this morning and as he was showing the current wx maps showing a huge trough over the midwest, he said “get used to it” that it is going to be a general pattern for this upcoming winter with lots of snow.

Is this just for the midwest only or for us in SNE as well??

  4. Hey Philip…. I just saw Henry’s video. If that trough he is talking about could extend to the east coast and you could get the northern and southern branches of the jet stream to phase off the coast then watch out.

  5. The tropical humidity is back south of Boston. Most dewpoints are 68F or higher and it feels it. It has seemed like a long humid stretch……I notice a few storms popping up west of Boston are there are some rather tall cumulus clouds mixed in with the low ocean clouds. Feels like good baseball weather ๐Ÿ™

    1. my AC went on again to get some of the humidity out of the house – I absolutely hate paying to use the ac this late in the season

  6. Right now it is pouring out in Sudbury and the sun is shining brightly. I guess you could call it “rainshine” ! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Yeah, I know – couldn’t resist posting that one. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sure feels like summer is still here. I haven’t put on the a/c yet – but may have to if it is still sticky later on.

    1. Hi, Hadi – glad you are enjoying your trip. Although it is Fall, it is summerlike here – very humid w/scattered showers, some heavy w/intervals of sun. Amsterdam! Wow – enjoy! And glad the weather is nice!

  7. Occasional crackling noise on AM radio…I never envisioned that I would be hearing it on “September” 29th. I hope a new month means a new wx pattern although my bet is that warmth will still be around to some extent.

  8. WOW. The wind was fierce. T&L but nothing compared to wind. Trees were bent in half. Made me a bit uneasy. Basketball net that stood during Irene ended up in middle of street.

    1. We had some good wind in Woburn, I’d say 30 MPH. Not enough for any damage, but the rain blew around pretty nice. No close lightning but some bright flashes and good rumbles especially as the main area was pulling away to the NE.

      1. I’m guessing over 30 here TK. The trees were bent more than the peak of Irene. Wind was howling thru our side door and I’ve never heard that. It was short lived but really odd. As you all know I love wind but this was scary – probably because it came so quickly

  9. I hate making drastic changes to my forecast but it looks like I’m going to be doing that!!! Too much evidence contrary to my original path of thinking. I think I forecast Europe better than my own home town sometimes! ๐Ÿ˜‰ BAHAHA

    1. I think your forecasts are consistently GREAT and I also think Europe is far easier to forecast than New England.

      Just sayin’ ๐Ÿ˜€
