Drying Out

8:56PM

Drier weather will dominate the next few days behind a departing storm system. Upper level low pressure west to north of the region will spin some clouds into areas mainly well west and north of Boston but the Boston area itself should see a fair amount of sunshine Friday & Saturday and full sunshine on Sunday. Temperatures will be more seasonable through the weekend.

Mild and fair weather is expected Monday ahead of a frontal system, which should send showers across the region Monday night or early Tuesday. Brief drying is expected during Tuesday before a wave of low pressure threatens the region with wet weather Wednesday.

Still following some potential storminess later in the week. For now I am not going to really make any changes to the most recent forecast.

  1. Thanks TK for the update as always! The NWS has chances for inland frost over the weekend…do you agree?

Too bad that next week will be unsettled at times yet again…I guess the CPC is still on target on that part. It would be really nice to have a full week to 10 days of no rain whatsover. We certainly won’t run the risk of extremely dry soil like in Texas anytime soon…that’s for sure.

    1. Frost will be possible Sunday morning as we will have high pressure overhead with light winds and a clear sky. It would not be a widespread killing frost, however. Dewpoint won’t be low enough to allow temps to really bottom out, nor is the airmass that will be over us that cold anyway.

I don’t see any prolonged dry weather at this time.

If sometime later in the winter La Nina becomes quite strong, we could end up south of the jet and enter a dry/mild pattern. Far too early to know.

      1. So are you saying we will have a weak La Nina this winter. What does that mean for us if so and compared to last winter. Could you please explain this in more detail, thank’s TK. On some things that I have read It was calling for a cold winter. Could we have a mild winter. There must be some information out there with some sign posts.

  2. Let us hope the Bruins can now get a nice win streak going. It is high time for the “2011 Stanley Cup Champions” to actually start playing like “champions”.

    1. Chicago had the hangover last season. We’ll see if this is the start of the B’s breaking out of theirs.

      1. This is a great sports town, no doubt about it. However, back-to-back championships are so hard to come by compared to other cities’ teams. Besides the Pats in 2004-05, you have to go waaaay back to the Celtics in the 1950’s/60’s…even the Bird era teams couldn’t do it, not to mention our current”Big three” teams.

  3. Very shocking not to see any posts since last night. Anyway, it looks like another big rainstorm for mid/late next week…so what else is new? 🙁

  4. Thanks TK – quiet here today. It is lovely. I think we’ll take advantage of a fire outside and put some steaks on the grill tonight!!!

Coastal, have you left for camping? My daughter and her family are heading up to Keene tomorrow thanks to your telling them about it – or that was the last I heard. Hope you have a great time.

  5. Is it too early to know what next Thursday through Sunday will be like. There is a great halloween night for littler kids at Drumlin Farm in Lincoln on Thurs and Fri night and we want to take our grandson to that. Then at Weston Nursery on Sat and Sun there is a production of The Great Pumpkin by the Ashland HS drama club we want to take our granddaughter to. I’m hoping one day out of each event period will be dry. Thank you!!!

  6. Typical fall day today – chilly with a picturesque sky. The clouds started building in early aft. so it has become mostly cloudy. I noticed the foliage seems more colorful today – but a lot of the leaves have fallen due to the wind.

Vicki, sounds like you will be having a lot of fun nxt. wknd. I hope the weather will be good.

Hope everyone has a great wknd. – we will be visiting some friends we haven’t seen in a long time this wknd. And for those going to the weather conference (I think it is this wknd.) – enjoy. I hope to be attending nxt. year.

  7. Vicki, we are leaving for Keene first thing in the morning. I am dropping my dog off at my brothers house tonight. I hope they can handle a 2 year old lab with endless energy. Then we are dropping the kids off in Framingham at their grandparents house. They next to the college so it’s close to RTE 9. Its suppose to be a top 10 weekend weather wise for the festival, I am sure it will be such a fun time.

That’s great your daughter and family decided to go. They will love it. We try to get there early afternoon and leave just after sunset. It can get very crowded on main street. I know this years they decide to relocate the food vendors to a side street. They are hoping it will free up some room on Main Street, Crowded or not, it is so much fun! The gazebo is beautiful!

  8. Just read Joe Joyce’s blog and he mentioned the s word. I am taking that with a big bucket load of salt but it won’t be long before were tracking potential snow makers.

    1. Starting to think one wave may skirt us on Friday and the main storm may bury itself in the Southeast and take quite some time to get here.
