Saturday November 26 2022 Forecast (7:15AM)

DAYS 1-5 (NOVEMBER 26-30)

Today we enter the final 5-day stretch of meteorological autumn, and our weather pattern will feature above normal temperatures, though not remarkably warm, and we’ll be dealing with a couple of low pressure systems. First, we get a nice Saturday as high pressure dominates. Sunday, the weather goes downhill as low pressure in the south central US lifts northeastward rapidly, and even though it will be on a weakening trend as it moves in later Sunday and Sunday night, expect some rain from it. A follow-up area of energy brings an opportunity for additional rain showers for a portion of Monday, before high pressure brings fair weather back for Tuesday. We stay mild Wednesday for the final day of the month, but based on current expecting timing we may not stay dry, as the next storm system, low pressure tracking through the Great Lakes to the St. Lawrence Valley, will be moving quickly likely bringing rain showers to us sooner rather than later…

TODAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 49-56. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 32-39. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Sunshine followed by increasing clouds. Chance of rain late-day, especially west of I-95. Highs 50-57. Wind S 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Rain likely in the evening. Areas of fog forming. Lows 40-47. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain showers morning-midday. Sun/cloudy mix afternoon. Highs 48-55. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, shifting to W with higher gusts later in the day.

MONDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 36-43. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

TUESDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 46-53. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 39-44. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Rain showers likely, especially in the afternoon. Highs 50-57. Wind S 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 1-5)

We will likely start December with a continuation of the late November pattern. As the month opens, exit low pressure via southeastern Canada and dry, cooler, but not too cold for a few days. May be some pretty strong wind around on the first day of the month to usher in the new air mass. Next system passes by to the north about December 4 with a rain shower threat before dry weather returns for the end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 6-10)

Battle zone between the mild US Southeast and the colder Canada. Pattern looks a little more unsettled and variable in temperature during this time.

  1. I’m still trying to unload 4 tickets to Trans-Siberian Orchestra for tonight’s 7:30PM show at DCU Center in Worcester. If anybody knows anybody who might want these, please let me know! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Quicker way is StubHub or Ticketmaster, but I’m getting a host of errors. Online stuff absolutely sucks these days. Everything is broken.

More and more I become convinced that “technology” is taking is backwards. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Things that were supposed to be easier are more difficult. Things that were supposed to eliminate work have added work. Someone keeps getting it wrong.

    1. Would a person have to go to Woburn to pick them up? And what is the cost? I could ask on Belmont FB page if you want. Sutton is a bit far but I guess it would not hurt to try

  2. Thanks TK.

According to Dave Epstein this morning, no cold or snow in our futureโ€ฆyet.

I have a gut feeling though that something very wintry coming before Christmas arrives.

Hope you and your son are feeling a bit better today TK! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Thanks TK. Hope you both are on the ,end soon. Itโ€™s not fun! My wife ended up with multiple blood clots from it in September. The key to preventing that, is to keep moving around, even when fatigued. Hers developed over two weeks, as she was very fatigued during that entire time and spent a lot of time resting.

  4. Good morning and thank you TK
    Feel better soon.

Sorry you are having trouble with stub hub. In the past used them several times with great success.

  5. Typical late November morning atop Mt. Washington with a temp & dew point matching at 10, and the mountaintop enshrouded in clouds with blowing snow, NW wind 69 gusting over 80.

    1. They seem to have their own personal climate much like Nantucket on the opposite end of the New England states. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. Being at the elevation they are at might have something to do with it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes very different there many times. It’s cool to see. I really want to go back up there again. I haven’t been since……1973. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        1. That was about the last time I was at summit also. It was in the high 60s at the base and warm jacket temp at summit. It is such a spectacular view. Iโ€™ve always kind of wanted to spend a winter up there

  6. Thanks, TK!

Best wishes for a quick recovery for you and your son! Feel better soon!

Believe it or not, we have daffodils poking their heads out on the east side of our home!!! I saw this putting up Christmas lights!!!

Has anyone noticed winter moths around their home this week? We have had a couple hanging around the lights. I thought they had been eradicated several years ago. The caterpillars, in the past, have nearly destroyed our crabapple tree in the springtime. Hope they’re not winter moths or it’s a fluke.

    1. Ugh. We just got rid of the hundreds Iโ€™d Asian lady bugs. Although I have a few inside now. I havenโ€™t seen the months but we usually get them also.

  7. Hello again. Leaving Missouri City this morning for the long ride home. Got a bit over 4 inches of rain and sun is out now. Will be driving east on highway 10. Hopefully, the dark reds and yellows on radar will be gone by the time we get to New Orleans for the first overnight.
As promised on my Thursday post, I am sending it your way although much diminished.

Get well TK. I’ve been through it, and it sucks.

    1. Thanks for checking in W2! Always good to hear from you. ๐Ÿ™‚

And thank you for the well wishes. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Thanks TK and hope you are starting to feel better.

Here are a couple pictures from opening day at Stratton yesterday. Definitely a big difference in weather between the summit and base. The top was enshrouded in clouds with low visibility and it was actually snowing pretty hard when we got up there around 9. The snow tapered to drizzle and then it started sleeting around noon up there when we left. The winds also really started to pick up. In the lower half of the mountain, some light rain and drizzle the whole time and the visibility was good.

Not at all crowded and they had four top to bottom runs open with good base coverage. There was even a few inches of natural snow cover on the ground as well.

    Different world up there!

  9. Leaving shortly to go up to Lapland Lake to do a few hours of cross country skiing. There is no snow on the ground here in Amsterdam NY but 45 min north and up in elevation, Lapland picks up the scraps every time there is a Lake effect snow event. They got a foot of new snow in the last week before it turned milder and still have 20km of trails open.

Trying to milk every bit of winter I can this weekend to tide myself over until the incoming snow blitz on December 10 ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. This one went to moderation initially – typo in the email but different than last time. Fixed it. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Sorry about that. I can’t type anymore, so it seems.
My browser keeps losing the Word Press credentials
every time I turn off my computer. ๐Ÿ™‚

          1. No worries. That one went to mod too, so I just approved it, so if you have that same one again it’ll just post. ๐Ÿ™‚

            1. Craptacular.
I carefully entered that and WP still put me in moderation. Screw them)!@(#()!@#()*!)(@#*

Let’s see what happens with this one!

    1. I see one threat on that run for central and northern New England – of course taking the run as is. ๐Ÿ™‚

The other system is OTS well south with stronger regional blocking shown on that particular forecast run.

  10. Interesting stat today: The 19 out of 20 home wins between the Bruins & Celtics at the Garden sets a record for the most by a combo of NHL/NBA team sharing the same arena through 20 games combined with a minimum of 8 played by one team.

Even after the Tom Brady era, we’re still finding ways to be the best at sports stuff in this area. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Letโ€™s see how these teams do after the New Year and into the postseason. AFAIC all of their regular season accomplishments will be totally WASTED if there isnโ€™t at least one Duckboat parade. I like the great starts but I donโ€™t want them gassed later on, not to mention injuries. Itโ€™s still a long season ahead. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. Yeah I get that, but regardless of the final outcome, which we won’t know for a long while, it’s been totally worth it to enjoy the ride they’re taking us on. Many people forget about that part and only care about whether or not they win it all. Yeah that’s great, but isn’t the point of the liking a sport also to enjoy watching it? ๐Ÿ™‚

          1. Oh I know. Most people are that way. I just happen not to be one of them. If you’re only happy watching a team when they win it all, then it makes for one miserable fan base. I refuse to participate in that mentality. It’s not in me. Sorry. ๐Ÿ™‚

            1. Well, I do understand that if the team doesnโ€™t win a Championship, thereโ€™s not a thing I can do about it, other than โ€œwait til next yearโ€. Still stings though.
              ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. The second letter was missing from the email which prompted it, but now both versions are “approved” so technically you have 2 usernames even though they are the same thing.. HAHA.

  11. There was yet another new tv met this evening on Ch. 7 and his name is AJ Waterman.

Are there weather folks leaving the station or just hiring more โ€œreinforcementsโ€ for the upcoming winter?

    1. It’s a mix of reasons. Some have leaving, some are having babies, some are adding a bit of staff. ๐Ÿ™‚

      I like AJ. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Boston now has 2 AJ’s .. haha!

        1. I don’t feel they have to have grown up here to work here. Sure, being familiar with an area is definitely a benefit, but that only goes so far. A good meteorologist will be a good meteorologist and will adapt to their location given time. Even when you forecast for a place remotely that you are not familiar with, you’ll mess it up quite a bit before you get used to it.

I did this for a long time, both in the US and around the world. It was a patience game in many ways. But you have to work hard to get there.

    1. Sky-wide beauty here this morning.

Trouble? Not really. Some rain later, as per my forecast. Certainly not going to cause much in the way of trouble save for a few minor travel delays.
