Rain-free conditions will grace the only morning first pitch of a MLB game this season at Fenway Park and the running of the Boston Marathon along the route from Hopkinton to Boston. While our winds will be much lighter than yesterday, the direction of that wind will play a role in temperatures along the route. As we warm from the 40s toward 60 diurnally, the temperature rise will be thwarted by a sea breeze along the coast, including into the marathon finish area. The temperature rise will stop somewhere in the 50s in the sea breeze areas while it reaches or breaks 60 over inland areas, but by then most of (if not all of) the runners will have left that area. Some rain showers associated with a warm front moving into the region will hold off until this evening, so we get through all the daytime activities rain-free. Tuesday, will feature mild weather and there is only the chance of a rain shower first thing in the morning and again sometime later in the day as a cold front crosses the region. High pressure builds in with fair, seasonable weather at midweek. While a northwesterly air flow dominates on Wednesday, the high pressure area over the region Thursday will allow a sea breeze resulting in a larger temperature contrast across the region. High pressure moves offshore Friday. A warm front scoots through early in the day when some thicker clouds may be around, but for the most part we’ll have a sun/cloud mix and above normal temperature on that day.

TODAY: High clouds filter the sun much of the day, then thicken up later. Highs 55-62, coolest coast. Wind NW up to 10 MPH becoming variable with developing sea breezes.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. A brief period of light rain possible evening. Chance of rain showers overnight. Lows 48-55. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers eastern areas early. Otherwise, partly sunny. Chance of a rain shower late in the day. Highs 57-64 South Coast to MA South Shore, 65-72 elsewhere. Wind S to SW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 46-53. Wind SE under 10 MPH.

FRIDAY: Cloudy early, then a sun/cloud mix. Highs 58-65 South Coast, 66-73 elsewhere.
