The wettest weather in the form of scattered to numerous showers occurs this morning through midday before tapering off. I cannot rule out an embedded thunderstorm, favoring areas well west and southwest of Boston prior to the more stable marine air overtaking those locations. Enough drying may take place for some breaks of sun, particularly north and northwest of Boston, later. Maritime air remains dominant on Saturday with cloud cover abundant, but a lack of any precipitation. Temperatures on Saturday will be more uniformly cool through the region than they have been recently. Sunday, low pressure passing to our north will drag a trough and cold front through from west to east, bringing showery weather back to the region. Behind this front comes a pretty chilly air mass and that will be with us for Monday – Patriots Day – which will be impacted by the chill and a gusty breeze as we have our traditional Boston Marathon and late-morning starting Red Sox game. An upper level disturbance will bring lots of clouds back during the afternoon Monday with the potential for light showers of rain and snow. High pressure builds in for Tuesday with fair but continued cool weather.

TODAY: Mostly cloudy – early morning breaks of sun are most likely Cape Cod / late afternoon breaks of sun are most likely north of I-90. Showers likely region-wide morning through midday including the slight chance of a thunderstorm mainly well west and southwest of Boston. Highs 58-65, mildest inland areas. Wind variable up to 10 MPH shifting to NE.

TONIGHT: Variably to mostly cloudy. Lows 45-52. Wind variable to NE to E up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Highs 52-59. Details TBD.

DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 27 – MAY 1)

Blocking pattern likely with our region on the cool side.
