DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 16-20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
High pressure slips offshore today. A difference from 24 hours ago – the high still being generally overhead, we did not cool off as much (many 40s yesterday morning, mostly 50s at sunrise today). Why? Higher dew point air arriving, and also a blanket of broken clouds moving in from the west as the warmer air arrives above us as well, although this cloud canopy will largely dissipate as it moves into the region. This leaves us with a day of abundant sun, warmer air, and a little more humidity, though not too noticeable yet. You will notice the humidity later tonight and particularly Thursday and Thursday night when we have a more pronounced southerly air flow ahead of an approaching cold front. That front will bring more cloudiness into our region as we move through the day leading to showery episodes later in the day into the nighttime hours. The front should clear the coast by sunrise on Friday, and that day will turn out dry, breezy, and cooler. Our weekend, similar to last, features a split of sorts. Saturday looks splendid with high pressure in control, though some high clouds may appear in the sky ahead of the next trough, which there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the details of. Some guidance brings full on rainfall in for Sunday, while other guidance holds the system off and suppresses it somewhat to the southwest, keeping our region drier despite more cloudiness. I’ve seen consistency on one model for the latter solution, which is currently the way I am leaning. The result would be a day not as nice as Saturday, but not as wet as last Sunday turned out. Pattern is unsettled overall. Details remains somewhat elusive. Leaning toward a scenario in which a low pressure wave passes south of our region but close enough for a period of rain later September 21 into September 22 to wrap up astronomical summer – autumnal equinox at 8:05 p.m. September 22. One more system could bring additional showers around the middle of next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
