DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 19-23)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beware out there on social media for posts about major storms and dramatic scenarios. Overdone. Here’s a real discussion. Today, we have a beautiful day to open the final summer weekend of summer 2026, although it’s feeling fallish with cool air having moved in from Canada. The sun will still feel nice and give the afternoon a milder feel. Low pressure makes a run at our region Sunday into Monday, but a large portion of this will be deflected to our south. A rain shield expanding on its northern side as warmer, moist air runs into the cooler, drier air to the north, then slides to the east. But that existing dry air will do a number on the rain shield as it moves into our region, limiting how much can fall. And this is why I still lean toward less rain over more, and a later start on Sunday. One thing we will not has is a lot of sunshine. Today is the sunniest day, by far, of this weekend. We get into a cool easterly air flow between high pressure to our north and the low to the south by later Sunday and on into early next week. For now, it looks like low pressure will continue to be held off to or south as we head into the first few days of next week but it can be close enough for some rain to get into southern areas at times – early Monday and later Tuesday as two time frames I’m watching for that. So even in the day 1 through 5 segment, starting with day 2, there is uncertainty in the outlook. I’ll update in comments as things become clearer to me, and of course a full update will be posted tomorrow morning with the new blog! And don’t forget, the autumnal equinox marks the start of fall at 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MONDAY NIGHT \/ TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Additional rain possible favoring the South Coast region. Lows 53-60. Highs 61-68. Wind E 5-15 MPH, higher gusts southern areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TUESDAY NIGHT \/ WEDNESDAY: Slow clearing trend. Lows 47-54. Highs 60-67. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 24-28)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For a good portion of this period we watch low pressure to the south while high pressure to the north is expected to stay in control most of the time with a generally dry, cool stretch of weather. Still cannot rule out low pressure surging northward enough to bring a period of rain in sometime in the September 24-25 time frame, so will continue to keep an eye on this potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
