DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 30 \u2013 OCTOBER 4)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A parting shot from a low that over-stayed its welcome, a summer post-script, and a shot of autumn chill are in our outlook for the next 5 days. First, we hang on to a blanket of broken clouds and even some patchy drizzle associated with the low level moisture left behind from our departed, much weakened low that was the nor’easter that impacted the region. If you count from when the high clouds ahead of the system first showed up (last Thursday) to its final impact of the aforementioned clouds and drizzle today, that’s a 7-day overall stay! But it finally leaves us today as the clouds break up and we get partial sun and milder air. This leads to a much warmer Thursday and Friday as high pressure slides south of our region and off the Atlantic Coast, giving us a southwesterly air flow. Much of our region gets well into the 70s Thursday and some thermometers see what could be the last 80+ degree air for quite a while on Friday. This short-lived summer “p.s.” will be wiped out by a cold front that sweeps through the region Friday night, trailing from a low that will move quickly eastward across southeastern Canada. This returns more seasonable air to our region for the weekend, which now looks completely dry. I had eyed the chance of some rain for Sunday, but trends have been steadily to see that moisture pass well to our south as there is a split flow developing, with a weaker southern jet stream carrying that energy east as a stronger northern stream keeps us dry through Sunday as a surface high pressure area moves across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TODAY: Mostly cloud with early-morning drizzle patches then partly sunny. Highs 66-73. Wind variable under 10 MPH becoming S 5-15 MPH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Fog patches interior low elevations. Lows 52-59. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Lows 53-60. Wind SW 5-15 MPH shifting to NW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SATURDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 65-72. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SATURDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 42-49 except 45-52 coastline and urban centers. Wind N under 10 MPH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SUNDAY: Sunny. Highs 61-68. Wind N to variable up to 10 MPH becoming S late in the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 5-9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quick-moving cold front brings a shower chance early October 5, followed by fair weather much of next week with temperatures falling below normal before recovering to near to above normal by week’s end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 10-14)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Westerly air flow in a split flow pattern with the northern jet stream controlling our weather here. This pattern is an up-and-down temperature pattern with a couple brief shower chances, otherwise mainly dry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
