This front can send a few showers into the region this afternoon, but much of this day will be rain-free with high temps well above the long term averages. The aforementioned cold front will enter the region tonight when the shower chance again increases as the front slows down and becomes quasi-stationary, a state it will maintain until Saturday when the final in a series of 3 low pressure waves intensifies more notably and pulls the front eastward. During the passage of these waves, shower activity will peak over the region during Friday with a narrower axis of heavier rainfall favoring the region near and east of I-95. I&#8217;m expecting rainfall amounts of 1.00 to 2.00 inches in general in southeastern NH, eastern MA, and RI, while amounts drop to under 1.00 inch to the west, and a narrow swath of greater than 2.00 inches can occur near or just east of I-95. Recent dry weather and low streams \/ rivers will prevent flooding in those regions, but leaf-clogged drains can lead to street and parking lot flooding during heavier rainfall times. Saturday&#8217;s weather will remain unsettled as an upper level low and trailing surface trough pass through, keeping the chance of rain showers going. Sunday looks like a day of mixed sun and clouds and generally dry and cooler, with an active breeze, but I cannot rule out a quick-passing diurnal shower with lingering instability in the atmosphere behind the departed low which by then will be accelerating from the Gulf of Maine toward Atlantic Canada. Heading out of the weekend and into early next week we establish a northwesterly air flow in the region, and in that air flow a cold front will sweep across the region on Monday bringing the chance of a quick-passing rain shower with it in an otherwise dry, breezy, and seasonably cool day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TODAY: Clouds increase west to east.
