  1. * Ivy League has canceled ALL Winter Sports.

    * No inter-state hockey for New England and New Jersey.

    * Medical Community now recommends avoiding on-board airline bathrooms.

*Current POTUS remains silent regarding Covid-19 as cases and deaths continue to rise.

  2. College campuses have a very noticeable uptick in cases & we have a Governor going around promoting all in school learning. I hope my minor surgery takes place on 12/2 at least it’s outpatient not at a hospital .

  3. Schools are moving to the three foot vs six foot requirement. Some school, including those with the new requirement, are sending emails and letters that if there is a positive in the school and students are wearing a mask and dux feet apart that quarantine is not needed

It may be a silly question, but if the school policy is three feet…..

Sorry. I can’t even finish that thought. Why are we doing this as our numbers soar and we are literally s country with no one at the helm.

    1. Dux=is. Good grief.

As I think about it…..There is a side to this that actually may make sense. Perhaps, it is a Subtle message that if we pack schools as we are being asked to, there Will be more quarantines.

See how well I can debate with myself 🙂 🙂

  4. My concern now is that in the days after Thanksgiving there will be yet another spike in cases due to college students coming home to their families. I know this suggestion will never materialize but I am almost wondering if those students should remain on campus during the Thanksgiving weekend and most certainly return home for Christmas/Winter break to spend time with their families instead.

This is just a thought I came up with. I haven’t heard of any college or university suggest this to my knowledge. Joshua, a bit too draconian?

    1. I am surely not Joshua, but I don’t think it is draconian at all. I have not kept up on how many colleges are actually in person so do not know how great or small the number would be. Maybe if we had some form of leadership with a national strategy, we would be able to better understand. But the fact is we do not.

I will add in a pretty much a nonrelated comment that I am so grateful that Ron Klain has been named as Biden’s chief of staff. The folks Biden is choosing are logical in general, but all along I was hoping Klain would play a huge part. This is both because of his respect from both sides of the aisle and his knowledge of pandemics due to ebola.

  5. It is remarkably sad that a governor has to stand in front of our state on a regular basis and literally lecture adults on what they should be doing. Good grief. How do people do anything other than what is proven to make a difference

  6. According to a recent poll, 81% of Democrats would support a state mandate for wearing masks in public while only 51% of Republicans would.

    Talk about a “nation divided”…

    1. I’ve said before that I grew up steeped in Republican Party politics. I was a member of the young woman’s Republican club as a teen. I was always so proud. Not so much any more. I like to believe that the true party still exists. I’m hoping it finds its way back to its center

  7. Philip, I believe there are plenty of colleges that are sending kids home at Thanksgiving and not having them return until January. This implies remote learning and exams in December.

Don’t like being lied to. Today Trump Administration lied to Americans for the zillionth time.

Trump and his minions declared Pfizer would immunize 20 million Americans in December. That is total and absolute bull crap.

It’s also analogous to the false promise Pence made in early March that “every American who wants a test can get it.” He knew then it was false, yet he repeated the lie.

    Just to be clear:

    – Pfizer/BioNTech don’t have all the data from the trial (expected in a couple of weeks). They haven’t yet applied for an emergency use authorization and will do so at the earliest in December. FDA will then analyze data and grant an EUA if the data are satisfactory. But this would only allow for a very limited distribution, certainly NOT 20 million doses. Application for regular FDA approval would follow, which if everything goes well would be finalized by the spring.

    – Pfizer’s chairman said this week in 3 separate interviews that millions of doses wouldn’t be available until spring 2021.

Headed for another terrible day on the Covid front. Another global daily death record is likely. U.S. hospitalizations and ICU usage are increasing rapidly.

I fear the Administration has fallen prey to a technology fetish, namely vaccines. Vaccines are great, but they’re NOT a mitigation tool. And that is what is needed right now. Nothing high-tech. Just low-tech common sense measures like limiting gatherings, hygiene, masks, distancing, avoiding non-essential activity.

    1. I have stopped believing it cannot get worse. My prayer is that somehow we can ….for lack of a better term,,,,grow up

      1. Those masks should NOT be acceptable. It’s just the same as no mask at all. Anyone wearing one should still be removed from the premises.
