  1. With regard to kids under 12 and Covid vaccines, have there been any trials on the adult dose or even perhaps “1/2 doses”? I have always assumed that all the traditional vaccines over the years were the same dose for all ages.

  2. I’m curious as to why the long delay for the next age group. My son is 11 so I’m starting to feel frustrated although obviously I support not rushing the process. But as kids end up in the ICU…. I’ll feel much better when Sammy is fully vaccinated!

    1. I sure don’t have concrete answers but know there are questions re dosage and space between shots for over 12, especially boys. I wonder if that is cause for delay due to a variety of differing approaches.

      1. Probably – I’m torn bc of course I’m very anxious to get him protected but I also know they must be moving along as quickly as is safe. However now that kids are in the ICU’s it’s a complete game changer for me as a Mom.

This pandemic keeps upping the anti!

  3. I apologize if I already shared this. Our superintendent told my daughter about DESE approved virtual education opportunities. My daughters have home school plans they feel will work best
With their kids, but Just in case anyone is interested in MA approved virtual schools

  4. UK Covid observations:
    – Masking is similar to Massachusetts; more signs encouraging or requiring masks in indoor establishments than Massachusetts; more use of KN95 masks
    – Vaccination rate is higher than Massachusetts in the at-risk (underlying conditions) and elderly subgroups (also promoted at every street corner, with signs on where to get vaccine – NHS Clinic, pharmacy, etc …); somewhat lower vaccination rate in younger folks (often single dose and waiting for 2nd, like my daughter and boyfriend)
    – More restrictions here than in Massachusetts with respect to office re-openings (most are still only open 1 or 2 days a week at most) and large gatherings/festivals (still many cancellations, even many outdoor events have been cancelled); also many more distancing (2 meters) and hygiene signs.

All this said, Massachusetts is still doing a good job compared to many other U.S. states. It’s comparable to the U.K. in terms of Covid indicators, with currently a lower transmission rate (though this may be wrong because UK tests more).

  5. YouTube suspends rand Paul for lying about covid facts. Isn’t it a shame that social media is doing what our elected officials should be doing.

    1. There’s a lot of misinformation on Facebook as well. I have never used it myself but that’s what I’ve been hearing.

  6. I heard on the radio a little while ago that Australia has been under LOCKDOWN recently. Is this correct Joshua?

And btw, how is Antarctica doing these days?

  7. Fda May authorize covid vaccine boosters by EOW. Hopefully, this time the rollout will be for those who need the boost and then the older folks who were first to have vaccine since it has been a significant amount of time.

  8. Joshua not sure you will see this. The expert I mentioned way back who was very open on mixed messages is Dr Leana Wen.

    1. Thank you, Vicki.

I do know Dr. Leana Wen. She’s been a sane voice throughout.

Philip, Australia does NOT have a nationwide lockdown. It does have intermittent, brief lockdowns if outbreaks are detected in certain cities. Also, Australia has draconian travel rules. If my daughter lived there I would not be able to visit without doing a mandatory 14 day hotel quarantine ($3,000).

I count my blessings that she lives in England.
