  1. Now that boosters will be the next stage of vaccination, should that shot be from the same company as the previous two? Would “mix & match” be too risky? Ideally I want to continue with the Pfizer.

If I understand correctly, J&J doesn’t even have a booster just yet and even if did, I definitely would NOT take it.

  2. Mama Mia, thanks for sharing your insights on a national health service. It’s so interesting that you studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. I did the same in England back in the mid 1980s.

Test positivity in some states is now around 50%: https://twitter.com/EricTopol/status/1426625309105737728

    On Florida: https://twitter.com/EricTopol/status/1426619387771949056

On Texas now having more Covid-19 deaths than New York:

Philip, J&J is working on testing efficacy of 2nd dose. So, not a booster per se, but similar.

  3. May be the worst week thus far of Biden’s presidency: the Afghanistan debacle, Covid Delta surge continues, and an inflation rate we haven’t seen since the late 1970s. Some things are outside the Administration’s control. But, I’m perplexed at how little the Administration is doing to be consistent in CDC messaging and also broadcast a much stronger message directed at Southern states, and convene a leadership conference with all governors (also to discuss how to best approach in-person learning).

The Administration appears overwhelmed and surprised at events on the ground. That is just not a good sign; whether it’s Afghanistan or Covid-19. Meticulous preparation and contingency planning (which should always include worst-case scenarios) should be top of mind of any executive branch.

    1. We’ll never know of course, but what shape would we be in now regarding those issues had Trump won instead Joshua?

      better?…worse?…same?

Just curious of your thoughts on that.

      1. Worse. Mostly because of Trump’s narcissistic and ego-maniacal personality. I’ll take Biden over Trump any day of the week. This said, I wish the media wouldn’t treat Biden with velvet gloves. He’s made mistakes, as all presidents do. And accountability is really important in a democracy, even if you prefer the guy sitting in the oval office to his predecessor. Ultimately the buck stops here, as Truman said.

        1. Media is coming down hard on him re Afghanistan from cnn to msnbc to npr to politico and even John Oliver. As far as delta, our health experts are tripping over themselves also trying not to openly admit vaccinations are less effective and it’s time to look at next steps. The media won’t help on that front, although I wonder ifthey have figured it out. The media loves an us (vaccinated) against them (unvaccinated) story. That approach of course has the exact opposite outcome that we need.

    2. Your last paragraph says it all. I’ve spent time the past few days researching ways to help the Afghan interpreters that worked alongside our troops and the families of the interpreters …..something that should have been addressed long before now.

Frankly, and to their credit, it is the first issue I’ve seen both sides of the aisle agree on…but it is sure not an issue I’d have thought we’d need to address.
