    1. Without getting nasty here, wouldn’t one think that there
was a serious lesson to be learned here? Why some people just don’t get it, I’ll never understand.

      1. It seems clear now that no matter how many deaths, many still will not get the hint and take the vaccine. If we don’t “vaccinate” our way out of this pandemic, indoor masking is going to be the norm for as long as we humans are on this planet and “vaccination status” will eventually mean absolutely nothing. 🙁

Somehow we need to get our indoor air “clean” again. The only progress we have made in the last 18 months is that we no longer have to wear masks outdoors at least.

        1. I sure understand I Have a $1/month subscription for several months. I will cancel when it ends. I cancelled NYT as it went up and have a $1.00/me 26 month subscription to the Boston globe.

  1. Drs. Marion Grover and Phil Krause who are members of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) wrote an opinion piece in the medical journal Lancet, saying, “Although the benefits of primary COVID-19 vaccination clearly outweigh the risks, there could be risks if boosters are widely introduced too soon, or too frequently.”

    1. Faust has said this for weeks. Imo he and these folks are being honest. We wonder why some have legitimate concerns about the vaccine. There are far too many inconsistent messages.

I understand that some folks who resist vaccines are doing so for political reasons or some other far fetched excuse (I don’t include religious beliefs in that). We won’t reach those folks. But we are responsible for messaging and we are failing.

  2. U.S. is pulling away – in the lead – from our peers, sadly. This is an under-reported phenomenon, by the way. It’s why I emphasize it. I read so many articles on the pandemic, and very few focus on how poorly the U.S. has done and is doing in terms of death rate. To be number one among all our dozens of peers – this will happen at some point in the next few weeks (we’re already number 3) – is an indictment of our leadership, our healthcare system, and our nation as a whole. https://twitter.com/MaxCRoser/status/1439970433814642688

    1. Staggering!!

And we think this country is so good.

I do not think that Biden has done the best of jobs, but I still
lay most of the blame squarely at his predecessor. If that man who shall not be named had handled things properly, we would not have this mass vaccine and mask hesitancy that we are now seeing. j=hundreds of thousands of lives could have been saved.
Sure there still would be some, but not to this extent.

I am frustrated as all get out. I just want to scream my lungs out all day long!

    2. Just awful. I agree with your view that it lays at the feet of out leadership, healthcare system and country as a whole. The disagreement within our scientific community is increasing

JPD I agree re wanting to just scream.

      1. I scream (inside) on my daily run along the Charles. If I actually screamed they’d put me away. Why do I scream (inside) on my run? It’s a time to reflect, as I observe the beautiful wildlife that even an urban area like Boston has to offer, along with the beauty of our city. My reflections often contrast the beauty I just described with the `ugliness’ going on politically, with our failed leadership, our state-of-the-art but dysfunctional healthcare systems, and ourselves as people when it comes to moving forward on so many issues, including Covid-19.

  3. So for those that are being controlled politically, what can be done? Like JPD I put blame on trump …..then and still.

I have the sense there are many people in red states who are scared because of leaderships ignorance. That our hands are tied to the point that nothing can be done about elected officials who knowingly are causing illness, death and continuation of a virus that remains out of control in good part because of them is unbelievable

      1. They don’t know. And it isnt just teens. At the moment, they span 12-40ish. The concern is will a third vaccine trigger more and in different age groups. When Dr Faust chose not to get a third vaccine, I listen.

      2. As I think about your question, I know you spend time reading re covid. If you are not aware of the heart issues, that shows how little we are receiving full information

      1. I didn’t see that but maybe. Or it could be another approach. I would be surprised if we just stopped with the vaccines

    1. In fact, we moved up from 37 to 36! The image in that tweet is wrong. It is sorted by the “at least one dose” column. If you go to the source table and sort by the “fully vaccinated” column, you will see the correct results.

      1. Thank you for correcting this, SClarke. I just double-checked FT and you’re right. We’re at #36. The trajectory, however, of about a half-dozen nations right behind us is such that they will likely soon surpass us in terms of ranking.

      2. Thanks Joshua and SC.

I’m still disgusted bu agree with Joshua re the Republican governors. They are working toward destroying this country in any way they can
