Been reading about the UK in the past week, and almost all epidemiologists believe a “significant” wave will begin by the end of this month and expand in October. Looks like that has already begun. Good lord.
I also know that in the Netherlands epidemiologists have urged boosters for the vulnerable as they expect a significant uptick. It’s not out of the questions that in the Netherlands mitigation measures will be implemented at some point this fall. Not a lockdown. But, mandatory masking, distancing, and crowd limits in certain places like pharmacies, health clinics, dental offices, nursing homes, and public transit. I don’t think this would extend to restaurants and other venues, but the Dutch have not ruled that out.
I give up. We are beyond any semblance of common sense.
And this as we begin to see brain damage in those who have had covid.
The post-Covid threat is real too. Both my neighbor (back in the spring) and my wife (this month) developed blood clots. My wife had one in her leg that sent some up to her lungs too. We were at the ER Tuesday afternoon into the night, where they discovered one in her leg and then clotting in her lower, middle and upper lobe of one of her lungs. She did come late yesterday on blood thinners for the next 3 months but had we not been proactive by her realizing her leg was swelling and our daughter identifying the signs were concerning (nursing student), things. Could have been a much different story later on.
She was ent home and told to resume normal activities, as they don’t want you resting, etc. the two weeks of fatigue with Covid contributed to developing them, as she was sitting, etc. most of that time.

She’s ok and on the mend. It was a crazy 36 hours but she had no issues breathing and no evidence of heart strain, so could have been worse.
