  1. Thanks TK ! Happy Easter to those celebrating…….experiencing a window here of completely clear, sunny conditions this late morning. Chilly, but nice !

  2. It’s too bad that we couldn’t have those wild March temps this weekend. It would feel much more “Easter” like if nothing else. Oh well.

Also, I just happened to come across a BPS Academic Calendar for 2012-13 online and noticed that next Easter will be in late March. That would mean climatologically a slightly better opportunity for snow for those Easter egg hunts. Personally, I never liked Easter Sunday in March because of having to cover up your best Easter outfits on the way to church. However, I was able to wear my suit on Easter Sunday 1997 when the temps were in the low 60s. Of course, we all know what happened the following Monday and Tuesday. πŸ˜‰

    Happy Easter everyone! πŸ™‚

  3. You probably all know this but Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon of the March equinox.

It is gorgeous today. Ranging from clear blue sky to some clouds and temp is 56.

  4. Just got home from a nice round of golf this morning. The sun was shining but man was it cold and windy. The course I play at, no matter the time of year, is always wet and the ground is soft. Today, the ground was like concrete and i couldn’t even take a divot. Every time I hit the ground it sent a shock through my hands and arms and ended up disappearing in the dust that came up. To say it’s dry out there is an understatement.

  5. I always seem to think of Easter as a milder holiday as its usually between 45-65 degrees for highs, once in a while it’s warmer and once in a while it’s colder but most of the time it’s between those temps, in 4 weeks everything will be sprouted and talking about memorial day festivities πŸ™‚

  6. Model runs are still consistently showing a change in the cool pattern toward the end of next week. Starting Saturday, it appears temps should be milder. Southwesterly flow takes over and pulls some warmth up going into school vacation week. Still no widespread rain that I can see.

  7. With ocean temps ranging from the uppers 40’s to low 50’s the sea breeze becomes tolerable as if temps were around 40 degrees

  8. Late this afternoon felt more like the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas rather than the day before Easter. I don’t know about inland areas but here in Boston foliage is pretty much still just as scarce as it was in February. Only green grass, dafodils, forsythias, and a very few tulips blooming in people’s yards including mine.

I have the feeling it will be a chilly and dull looking Easter Sunday. I plan to celebrate and enjoy it anyway! πŸ™‚

    1. Son said in Brookline stuff is blooming. I was thinking I haven’t seen it so full in years as I drove to daughters home an hour away. I thought I was imagining it until my husband said Watertown to here he’s seeing flowering trees he doesnt remember and then my daughter and SIL said their flowering trees and shrubs haven’t been as vibrant in years.

      1. Philip leaves on trees here that typically don’t show till end of April are showing. I really can’t remember a spring as vibrant as this – even later in month. Odd Boston is so different. My daughter is in south central MA and a friend is in central NH just over MA border and both are usually a few weeks behind me. They are same as I am this year

        1. Yeah here it looks more like early May as suppose to early April, everything is 2-3 weeks early πŸ™‚

      1. Indeed. Saw both. We got home from practice intime for 3rd pd bruins game. Hectic schedule now with coaching basball, work and life. Living the dream one day at a time. Happy Easter.

      2. Don’t forget the C’s! πŸ™‚

        And the Sox…UGH!!!!!!!!!!

        ! = # of runs given up πŸ™

  9. i know this is not weather related but 3rd place in finals out of 11 groups and our first year marching. It was a good year.

  10. Have a great day everybody. If you celebrate, happy Easter. Next Monday no work for the holiday, wish it were tommorow.

      1. Not to warm for the runners I hope. The year that I ran we had that storm. There was talk of canceling it. Does anybody remember that rain and wind storm. It turned out fine by race time. We the team had the royal treatment with an indoor facility, luckily.

        1. Honestly, the marathon doesn’t interest me at all. I know the runners like it, but to me it’s become a pain. It quit being interesting 10-15 years ago when it was taken over by international runners. I don’t want to see anybody faint from the heat, but I’d love to see a 70 degree day myself.

          1. Not sure if you know but the marathon raises a ton of money for the Boston hospitals and other important charitable foundations. Its not a single winer in this race, every runner is a winner. A ton of money goes into research, like cancer and other horrible diseases.

            1. I ran for children’s hospital and raised close to $6000. I only had to raise over $3000. All that money goes to the hospital to help those poor kids. Some kids walking through there know nothing about life. Like the Easter bunny or Santa Claus. Others become walking little miricales.

              1. I walked by a man Friday at work. He was bent down to the floor in tears. As I handed him a box of tissue, I said hang in there pal. Don’t know what his child was going through, but marathon money raised helps those kids.

            2. Wow John impressive. I have never liked running but that doesn’t stop me from admiring each and every runner. They span in age from quite young to 80+. Huge event. Oldest in the world I believe.

  11. today will have more clouds than sun today but will be dry temps will be in the 50s.
for the rest of the week there will generally be more clouds than sun with highs in the 50s and lows in the upper 30s with a chance of showers each day The reason for this is because of a storm system that will be hanging over northern new england and southern canada

    1. Depends on what you call warm. After Friday, we should see some 60’s and lows in the 40’s instead of 30’s. Might even slip a 70 in early in the week of the 16th. If you’re talking 80’s, that’s a different story.

    2. Rain is good. Right now I am more interested in that than warm. Sudbury river which has been high all winter is now down below its water mark by about 1.5-2 ft

          1. Rain would be good. It’s all perspective too. Where I grew up, this is just a little dry spell. It depends on how you define drought. I’ve seen it not rain for 6 months, at least substantial rain. Sure, it’s dry, but it never gets really dry up here like it does in the southern plains or out west. Now thats dry.

            1. Not sure you can compare areas. It’d be like someone in new England not taking TX or GA serious when they have an inch of snow. It is serious because they are not prepared. Every region prepares for its major risks. No region can prepare for risks that are occasional. My husband lived in CA we still have family living in various areas of CA and many other drought prone areas so know what drought can be. However when wells dry up and crops die that’s all that matters

            2. Sorry neighbors stopped by but wanted to add that you are absolutely right that droughts in other areas take on a whole new meaning for the word. Literally no water use including toilet flushes etc. horrible fires. Terrifying.

  12. The easter bunny with some help from nana and papa gave my grandson a weather channel kids weather station. It gives temp and humidity in and out and there is a pic of a little boy wearing appropriate clothing for the weather. Right now the figure is wearing a rain coat and hat and holding an umbrella. Can you tell I’m grooming another weather lover

    1. And who knows. Maybe he’ll want to become a met like Scott and Matt. And if he is even half as nice a person at their age as they are that would be special too.

  13. UGGGH….Football season can’t come quick enough for me. What a pitiful performance today by Aceves and Melancon.

    1. Me and the family go to the Patriots preseason mini camp practices in early Aug,, about 15,000 show up daily, but the crowds get bigger and bigger every year. Go Patriots!!

          1. You are right Matt. In top four for records in nfl for past 10-12 years. Not a team that anyone can write off

      1. Charlie i sooooo miss football every weekend. Although the masters has been fun. Two holes in one and a double eagle. Last double eagle In masters was 1935 I didn’t realize double eagle is rarer than hole in one.

My SIL takes my grandson and neighbor kids to the camps and practices. The players are required to go out to sign autographs a certain number of times. He has a ton and lots of pics of the players with my grandson. They are GREAT with kids.

      1. I never thought it would but also won’t rule it out until may. This winter has been far too odd.

        1. I guess its kinda like asking does anyone think we will get a hurricane this year? Very unlikely but anythings possible, hope u had a good Easter Vicky πŸ™‚

          1. Exactly I had a wonderful Easter. I sure hope you did too. Enjoying the end of the masters as well – we had to start a bit late so haven’t seen end
