Monday Forecast

6:55AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 9-13)
High pressure sinks to the south of the region and allows heat into the region early this week, but still dry today before some humidity increase Tuesday, though neither heat nor humidity will be to the level of what was seen last week. A cold front will cross the region Tuesday night and ahead of it a few showers or thunderstorms are possible from late Tuesday afternoon to the early hours of Wednesday. High pressure builds in at midweek and not only will bring drier and somewhat cooler air, but should play a role in keeping Chris, forecast to be a hurricane, mainly offshore. Leaning a little more to this being the case rather than the sneaker closer pass, but leaving showers in the forecast for Cape Cod Thursday just in case. High pressure moves over then south of the region Friday, which will end up a warmer day. Forecast details…
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 78-85 South Coast, 86-93 elsewhere. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 60-67. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Isolated thunderstorms possible far north and west of Boston by late day. More humid. Highs 78-85 South Coast, 86-93 elsewhere. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Humid. Lows 65-72. Wind SW up to 10 MPH but may be variable and gusty near any storms.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Less humid. Highs 75-83. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy. Risk of showers Cape Cod. Lows from the upper 50s to middle 60s. Highs from the upper 70s to middle 80s.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 80s, cooler some coastal areas.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 14-18)
A warm to hot July 14-15 weekend with no more than isolated showers and thunderstorms. A front in the area may trigger additional showers and storms sometime in the July 16-18 period, but most of the time will likely be rain-free with near to above normal temperatures.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 19-23)
Overall pattern remains warm with a couple shower and thunderstorm threats, but largely dry weather overall.

  1. Good morning and thank you. Spectacular morning. Wind shifted from SE to SW last night This morning is WSW and lovely and cool off of river. There has been a steady breeze since we arrived providing lovely, natural AC on one side of house and warmer air on other.

So Thursday seems we will have an active ocean but no direct hit? Works for me. I have yet to surface enough to see ocean side but waves sound louder this am than the have.

These south shore folks sure know how to say welcome πŸ™‚

    1. Awesome Vicki !!

My colleague has a house at the beginning of the road you are on and what you say is so true ….. when the waves get big there, they make thunderous sounds crashing on the beach. I don’t know if it’s all the rocks or what, but it’s neatly amplified. Enjoy !!

      1. Thank you, Tom. I do love the sound of the ocean on the rocks. A natural wind chime…or water chime

  2. Back in the office today. Bummer, but boss is off this week, so hopefully it
will be a quiet week. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I have plenty to do to keep me busy.

  3. Thanks TK !

Ocean bound today, we’ll see where we can find a parking spot πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The goal is Ogunquit.

    1. Love it there. Have a great time. At the right tide stage, try taking
the kids inner tubing down the river behind the beach. It’s really cool.
I can remember doing that with both of my children when they were
young. You go zipping along and get emptied out into the ocean. Really
      cool.

We used to eat at a local sea food place called Barnacle Billy’s
located at Perking cove which is up the street a little bit from the beach.
In addition to sea food like clams and scallops (the only sea food I will eat), they had great burgers, fries and onion rings. Have not been there in a long time, but it is still there, so I assume it is still decent.

      Have a great time.

          1. My wife and I loved it as well the one and only
time we were there. The ambiance is exquisite
and the service and food was excellent.

  4. So, after I posted, my wife told me she wanted to save Ogunquit for later in the week, as she didn’t sleep well and wanted to save Ogunquit for when she fealt better.

So, instead, we are at a beach just south of old orchard.

Thanks JpDave and Vicki. That will be the plan wed or thurs now. Tubing the river as you’ve described and we really like Jonathan’s restaurant as well. Sounds like we have a WHW adventure that many would like. I’d do it again in August πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    1. Hope Mrs Tom feels better. Sometimes special things happen when plans are changed. I hope that is the case for all of you.

  5. I was chatting with Macs brother who lives just west of San Francisco. He said fires in the area have increased significantly. We don’t hear about them on the news because they are smaller …5-20 acres. He said they used to have maybe one every few weeks. Now they are having 1-2 per day.

    1. They had a report on fires last night, but you are correct, they only mentioned
the big one in N. Calif near Oregon border and then another near
San Diego. Not a word about fires near San Fran.

      1. He had one in his town last week …just five acres but we all know how quickly they can get out of control. There are a couple today. There is no humidity.

  6. As promised by Tom, the high tide has started to come up a bit each night. Thurs looks to be highest.

  7. Thank you to Harvey for pointing out the following: On this day of our 7th month, after the Red Sox scored 7 runs last night, Boston hit 90 for the 7th time, with an average temperature so far this month of 77.7F, and to add to it further, there are 7 planets visible in the night sky tonight. πŸ™‚

      1. If you follow most favorite songs posts on FB, there is a song title “7” upcoming.
