Something’s A Miss

1:24PM

What will be a miss is the unsettled weather, passing south of New England, staying offshore this weekend and only tossing some high cloudiness into the region, a little thicker at times near the South Coast, and by later in the coming week we may have to deal with a passing cold front setting off a few showers and thunderstorms, but otherwise the long stretch of mainly fair weather will continue, along with a more mid Summer feel to the air.

Updated forecast for southeastern New England…

THIS AFTERNOON: Partly cloudy. Highs 70s coast, lower 80s inland. Wind N shifting to E 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows middle 50s inland valleys to middle 60s urban centers. Wind E to S up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Partly to mostly sunny with most clouds south of Boston, most sun to the north. Highs middle 70s to lower 80s, coolest south-facing coastal areas. Wind S 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY-WEDNESDAY: Fair weather with increasing humidity day by day. Lows upper 50s to middle 60s. Highs upper 70s to upper 80s, coolest South Coast and Cape Cod.

THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of a few PM showers and thunderstorms. Lows 63-70. Highs 82-92.

FRIDAY-SATURDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 80s.

    1. Hi Emily. Are you familiar with the book…Wabi Sabi the art of every day life

A blog friend told me about it and I got it today. It makes me think of you. Short, calming passages/stories/quotes.

        1. I’m great thanks…especially now that windows are open and I’m outside from morning till night. You must head back to school soon.

  1. From the satellite loop you’d almost think we were in for a rainy Sunday, but high level winds from the west are gonna save us from that fate.

  2. It’s 6am and its just beginning to be daylight, it’s crazy that 6 weeks ago the sun would be blaring into my window by now

  3. Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz?

In which year were names first officially assigned to Atlantic tropical storms?
    A. 1945
    B. 1953
    C. 1959
    D. 1964

Answer later today. By the way the first Atlantic named storm ever was Alice. Bonus points among your colleagues if you can pick the year, included in the above list, in which names were first officially assigned to Pacific tropical storms.

    1. Ill say B. I don’t no pacific…..do they have hurricanes there ;). I think the last all female year was 78. I still prefer all female. See how I adapt to change in such a short time!!

  4. Out at the morning pop Warner football games, we got occasional sprinkles with mostly cloudy skies

  5. Lobsterman are down to 1.97 a lobster, I remember when lobster was 12.99 a lb daily years ago and now they run between 6-8 bucks a lb, it’s about the only thing in this world that’s gotten cheaper, seafood gets cheaper and cheaper as the years go, not sure that’s good or bad

    1. When I did some shopping the other day, I noticed that Market Basket has them for $3.99/pound. Hope everyone’s having a great summer!

      1. Hi flower girl. I hope you are enjoying summer also. We had lobster three times on vacation as it was the least expensive meal there was……I love it!!!!

    2. There is a huge supply right now so prices go down. In the cooler months they go up. I haven’t noticed other fish going down at all and it depends on wild or farm. We won’t eat farm raised….far too many contaminants

And…..in the topic of fish. My neighbor just brought us about 2 lbs of albacore he caught last night about 100 miles out………not only as fresh as it gets but the price is right too πŸ™‚

  6. I know its not weather related but we love watching the little league World Series. JJ you have a team in the mix…im watching Westport and WA game now.

  7. Answer to today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz?

In which year were names first officially assigned to Atlantic tropical storms?

    A. 1945
    B. 1953
    C. 1959
    D. 1964

The answer to the Atlantic storms is B, 1953 and for the Pacific, it’s C, 1959. Of course, I managed to get this wrong.

    1. You have to be old as methuselah which is my case to remember. I had to think a bit about a or b though

    1. I want it to pour so i can leave work early. Pretty steady long line of showers behind this one, looks to overtake southern sections rest of the evening.

      1. I want it to rain for water. Everything is so dry. The Sudbury we go over in framingham is literally down to mud. Not good

  8. All the rivers and ponds are about normal maybe slightly below normal judging by them but have seen them far far lower in Aug

          1. The Sudbury river in many spots is down to mud. Not sure how it can get lower. I’m only saying for this area. Ill ask my daughter how their area is. We haven’t had appreciable rain in a very long time other than 1.4 here last week. Lawn and garden here are literally bone dry

  9. Did anyone know that the departed was actually filmed in NYC bc of taxes, the residents wanted a higher tax paid to city for use so they filmed it in NYC, thought that was sorta weird

    1. If I’m not mistaken, the departed was filmed in several locations….Boston being one of them. Very typical of any movie.

        1. Wow they moved from Charlestown to several Boston locations to Lynn and Quincy quickly. But as usual I’m not seen why it matter. Charlie it really doesn’t matter but 7 minutes of a movie take sooooo much more time that that. I spent a lot of time on movie sets when in my youth and was amazed by that

          1. Vicki…we had a saying on one of the old Weather Newsgroups back in the 90s….Don’t feed the Trolls LOL. This is a classic case.

          2. Hey km!! I don’t call u names don’t call me names, I don’t ever get personal, it’s a fact up above and a conversation, I’m stating it bc I’m disappointed that it wasn’t filmed in boston, maybe most aren’t offended and that’s fine and may be the problem why who we are, I’m just saying I’m not happy about it, this is boston and I’m not into fake boston, of course πŸ™‚

            1. Hey Charlie….chill out. You come out here and throw bombs all over the place..all the time and then you sit back and watch the fireworks out here. Sorry but I call them as I see them on this one. You constantly complain about Boston, New England, etc on a board that is supposed to be about weather. To me that’s trolling.

              1. And if you think calling what you do is trolling is personal then you need to grow a thicker skin. Have a great night.

  10. Always interesting to come home to a little comedy.

Anyway, a bit of a miss on the southern New England stuff as some light rain got into areas I just expected to see the most clouds but stay dry. Up to the north, I spent this day in Ogunquit Maine with a stop at Hampton Beach for dinner on the way back down the coast, and most of the day the sun was out up there, though dimly at times, and eventually it was a little cloudier but that was after the beach time was done and it was just time for a trolley ride and a walk along Marginal Way. A beautiful day.

I have updated the blog. πŸ™‚
