Saturday Forecast Update

8:46AM

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 19-23)…
A little increase in humidity today, already evident by more widespread low cloudiness and areas of fog to start the day, though they will vanish during the morning and leave plenty of sunshine for most of the day, only starting to fade later as clouds approach from the west ahead of a cold front. This front will pass the region Sunday morning, and I’m only adding back the slight risk of passing showers to start the day, especially north of Boston, before clearing, cooler, and drier weather takes over. High pressure builds to the north of the region Monday which will be fair but cooler day. Low pressure to the south may get close enough to toss some cloudiness in along with the chance of some wet weather near the South Coast Tuesday, but this should retreat Wednesday and we’ll be back to fair and pleasant weather.
TODAY: Areas of low clouds and fog dissipating during the morning with more sunshine much of the day. Increasing high and middle clouds approaching from the west late day. Highs 76-83. Wind S 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. Slight chance of showers before dawn northwest of Boston. Lows 58-65. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy through mid morning with passing showers possible especially north of Boston. Becoming mostly sunny late morning on. Highs 68-75. Wind W 10-20 MPH.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs 65-72.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain South Coast region. Lows in the 50s. Highs in the 60s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs 65-72.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 24-28)…
Low pressure may try to run northward briefly September 24 with more cloudiness but a new and larger high pressure are will build down from Canada for the remainder of the period with dry weather and slightly cooler weather to start the period followed by a gradual warming trend.

DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 3)…
Frontal system may bring some shower activity September 29 and/or 30 before high pressure builds in with dry weather to start October. Temperatures mostly above normal, warmest early in the period.

  1. Thanks TK !

Good morning from Nickerson State Park on the Cape.

Early morning thick fog has burnt off to sunny skies.

I love Cape Cod this time of year, it’s actually warmer than June, but the summer crowds have thinned out a decent amount.

Have a nice day everyone !

    1. One of my former coworkers always vacationed on Cape Cod in September. Warmest water, often nicest weather, and thinnest crowds of the warm season. You may not get the excitement in the air of the coming Summer when you go so late, but it’s still really nice down there and you can start looking forward to Fall after that. 🙂

  2. Thanks, TK.

I sent thoughts and prayers to you and your family yesterday. Enjoy your trip up to VT today. Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day. Sun just came out here. Lots of lovely weather for awhile – only drawback is we need rain. Oh, well. Nothing much we can do about it. Just enjoy the nice weather, I guess.

  3. Even without a sea breeze, just not warming up much today.

Bright and sunny, but just not getting the job done.

Up to 73.9 here is all.

  4. I heard fox 25 say a frost for Boston is at least 6-8 maybe more weeks away with this pattern we are in. We shall see 🙂

  5. I may have said this already, but talk of a late frost is premature. We don’t get frost in September, and we often don’t have our first frost in October either. I believe the average first frost in Boston is early November. I don’t think this year will be any different from others. That is, we’ll have our first frost by Veterans Day, and that would be well within the normal range.

I do think the winter will shape of mild with a frequent Pacific zonal flow. Of course, a mild winter does not mean total lack of cold or snow. Even the mildest winters (2011-2012) produce some snow and cold.

        1. 1st frost October 27. First hard freeze november 12

Computer not on so can’t keep track. Will try to remember to come back here Monday and record them but would sure appreciate a reminder

      1. Boston, and I looked at different websites from underground to fox 25, and that’s why I have a range, there all a little different.

  6. Windy and overcast and somewhat cooler with a tad lower DP but the feel of cooler weather. I love mornings like this.

  7. Thank you for this morning’s update.

I drove by Wenham Lake on Route 1A north yesterday. I tend to drive by that lake once or twice a year heading toward Hamilton and have been doing so since the 1970s. It was shocking how low it was. Never seen it like that.
