Happy Patriots Day!

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 17-21)
A fabulous weather day, maybe a little warm for some runners of the Boston Marathon, but about as nice as one can expect for being a spectator of the great race, or being at Fenway for a Red Sox game, which hopefully they are able to win today. There are no weather issues for traffic around Boston but these factors, a work day for many, and a Bruins playoff game this evening will all combine to make it a crazy day getting around the city. At least the weather is not going to hamper that. Bringing us the nice weather is a high pressure area centered over eastern Canada, but this high that is our friend today may become a little less friendly especially for coastal areas by Tuesday as it moves in such a way to change the northwest wind to a northeast wind and this may bring in low clouds and possible drizzle. Additional moisture will be added through Wednesday as winds shift more to the east then southeast, and then we’ll add low pressure into the mix as a couple areas move out south of New England during Thursday and Friday adding wet weather at times under a more solid overcast.
TODAY: Partly sunny. Highs 66-73. Wind NW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 46-53. Wind N 5-15 MPH with higher gusts.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny except mostly cloudy eastern coastal areas with possible drizzle. Highs 48-60, mildest interior areas. Wind NE 5-15 MPH with higher gusts.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Late-day or nighttime rain possible. Lows 40-48. Highs 50-58.
THURSDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain and drizzle. Lows 40-48. Highs 45-53.
FRIDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain and drizzle. Lows 40-48. Highs 45-53.

DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 22-26)
Lingering showers/drizzle April 22. More rain later April 24 and showers at times April 25-26. Temperatures variable, probably starting out below normal then ending somewhat warmer.

DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 27-MAY 1)
Expecting a drying trend. Temperatures near to above normal.

  1. Thank you, TK

Happy Patriots day. Amazing men, those patriots who envisioned the perfect experiment that has held for over two centuries.

Wishing my very best to those participating in the marathon…another kind of special person.

I don’t know how the flyover works but the planes have come just N of us and turned at least a half dozen times. I cannot see them but the sound is thunderous

  2. Out in Concord today. Shot heard round the world reenactment. Parades and all.

Have a great day everyone. Thanks TK.

    1. We did that many times when kids were little. It is very special. Have a special time, Dr S

β€œBy the rude bridge that arched the flood/Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled/Here once the embattled farmers stood/And fired the shot heard round the world.”

  3. Figures. After about 10 false alarms, they flew right over house and I didn’t have camera. Was amazing to see and I believe shook the house

  4. This might be the windiest Sox game I have ever attended. Stiff breeze in my face all day in the RF grandstand. Thickening clouds and a game time temp of 70 making for a great day. 4-2 Sox in the bottom of the 3rd right now.

    1. I’ve had the Sox on one TV and the marathon on the other while I catch up on inside stuff. It’s a bit windy for yard work today…

  5. Goo afternoon. Glorious day! WOW! That is how nice it is.|
Spent the morning fishing. Had quite a haul today, including 8 large mouthed bass, the largest of which was 2 1/2 pounds and 18 inches long. I continue to be amazed
at catching these bass in April. Truly amazing. This was at the dam in South Natick.

Then I went to the dam in Needham where there was not much action, but I did
see 3 HUGE fish. I couldn’t quite see clearly enough, but I am about 99% certain
they were carp. I mean these were gigantic as in 30 inches long or so.

  6. Thank you TK! Just a wonderful day to be a Massachusetts resident. Even though I have to work this day always has such a special feel to it.

    1. Working? Well, that doesn’t seem right. I think there should be a tall glass of something fun waiting for you to enjoy outside when you get home.

      1. I’m stuck at work too πŸ™ Not a federal holiday unfortunately (and even if it was, private sector gets very few of those off)

          1. Well done. I would be working but colleague works marathon so I get day off. Son is working. Son in laws office is behind 16 in Wellesley and he couldn’t send crew out to do calls so they all get day.

    1. Remember a few weeks ago when the 700+ hour forecast from the CFS had snow on April 27-28? Probably the same system essentially. πŸ˜‰

  7. Euro seems to be trending towards GFS/NAM Tuesday thru Thursday.

Maybe instead of 45F with a raw NE wind Thursday, perhaps 55F and most rain north and west of Cape Cod ……

    1. JpDave’s favorite weather is about to visit us for the extended period. Troughy pattern with periods of rain, raw temps, and easterly winds. Cool temps begin tomorrow thanks to the marine influence with episodic rain and cool temps to follow Wednesday into at least early next week πŸ˜€

        1. Haha. One of the american models actually does hint at the chance of wintry precip during the first week of May πŸ˜€

      1. Shhhh Trying very hard to WISH it away and replace it with more
of today! An absolutely fantastic day! A tad too windy at time, but with it this nice, who cares. I didn’t even mind the wind while
fishing as it didn’t bother me in the slightest. πŸ˜€

        1. I think Wednesday may surprise with sun in eastern sections, though it will be cool. The trend Thursday seems to keep the wet weather further north and west. Now Friday seems to be that dreaded very chilly, raw, wet, NE wind, 42F type of day.

          1. I’m invested in the next 3 days because we are cape cod bound πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  8. Thank you, TK.

Oh, goodness. What I really detest about spring is its fickle behavior. Just as I get used to this nice sunny stretch of weather it comes to an abrupt end and will feel far removed from reality when it’s 49F, gray, drizzling, and dismal. I’m 100% with JP Dave: The raws, drearies, and generally unsettled weather which visits these parts too frequently from March until the middle of June is depressing. There isn’t another way to describe it. Spring seems to always `happen on a Wednesday’ around here, which implies its ephemeral nature. This is sharp contrast to our mostly clearly defined summers, falls, and even winters.

    1. One of the few times we differ, Joshua. I love the teases and the quiet days where bundling up is still fun.

        1. About the only thing you and I dont agree on either. I think it is because Mother Nature is female, females are fickle and I get fickle.

          1. I am fickle as well. As the mrs.

I still hate miserable damp cold cappy spring weather.
            Cannot stand it.

            1. Well then…… πŸ™‚

I’m actually not fickle. I just thought it sounded fun πŸ˜‰

If I am being completely open….i think that fickle finger of fate has Taught me well to simply enjoy every second.

  9. Macs cousin is at their place in Stowe. At least half the trails open on Mansfield. She said it was up to about 70 yesterday. Nice spring skiing. They hiked the long trail a bit but ran into some areas covered with snow so headed back.

    1. Well if you ever can’t access the European model all you have to do is look at Ch 4’s 7-day forecast. πŸ˜‰

Will they be the only ones that get the unsettled weekend right, or the only ones to get it wrong? πŸ˜‰
