THURSDAY: Variably cloudy. Lows 53-60. Highs 67-74.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 26-30)
Looking at Memorial Day Weekend and 1 day either side of it, current thoughts remain generally unchanged at this time with a low pressure system bringing wet weather on Friday May 26, lingering clouds with isolated showers but overall dry weather for Saturday May 27, fair and nice weather Sunday May 28, and a taste of summer for Memorial Day Monday May 29 into Tuesday May 30 when showers/thunderstorms may be possible.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 31-JUNE 4)
Some wet weather may be around early in the period then drier and somewhat cooler.

  1. It’s another spring beauty out there. Perhaps my favorite part of spring is hearing the little peeps from the recently hatched ducklings. To see a mother mallard’s instinctual caring of her young is also a sight to behold, year after year.

    Thanks for the forecast, TK.

    1. Another cute event to watch is when the occasional drake (father) helps out. They don’t usually stick around for long, though. 😉

  2. If you want a good laugh, the 6z GFS spins up a tropical system in the western Caribbean next weekend, has it head towards Cancun, then blow up in the Gulf, and on Day 16 it’s a Category 2 just about to hit Tampa.

The odds that this verifies are roughly the same odds that we get a foot of snow on the 4th of July.

  3. Good morning and thank you TK. Back from a most productive morning of fishing.
67 fish in total that included 22 largemouth bass and 1 brown trout among the usual
suspects. (white and yellow perch, crappie and bluegill). I went through 54 nightcrawlers and the fish weren’t done. I had to save them for next time. 😀
I released all of the fish, hopefully unharmed.

I use nightcrawlers instead of artificials, so I put up with the bluegill to get at
all of the others. Largemouth love nightcrawlers presented properly.

Absolutely a beautiful morning. It was quite comfortable with jeans and a shirt and I started fishing around 8 AM. I agree with Joshua, yesterday and today were
perfect Spring days. A touch of coolness, but otherwise glorious. Zero complaints
    from this habitual complainer. 😀

  4. I have a question from a friend in Sutton who is a teacher. I’ll post below. Southwick is in mendon out this way. I’d sure appreciate any advice. Thank you

Hey Vicki – I have a question for you, my weather bug friend: I have a field trip scheduled tomorrow for Sothwicks with 55 pre-K kids. Hearing all different weather reports – ugh. I need a 3 hour window, from 9:30-12:30. A little drizzle is OK but not a lot of rain. Any thoughts? It will be very, very difficult for me to rebook the busses, Southwick’s, etc., so ideally tomorrow would be good but cannot help the weather. Let me know what your expert opinion would be. Thanks Vicki!

    1. The earlier half of that period should be OK, then there could be rain for the later half.

      1. Thank you both very much. She is going ahead….with 55 pre-k. Some people are just saints.

  5. TK when do you think we will get into any consistent 80+ weather. I am hoping the water temperatures of nantucket Harbor to warm up a bit as its a chilly 48 degrees

  6. Tk hope the celebration was good . I have not seen a forecast all weekend on tv as I was straight out this weekend 5 jobs with two additional squeeze on jobs today . Long sleeve shirt tomorrow or polo for outdoor work thanks. I am sunburnt from this weekend .

    1. Something that repels raindrops might be helpful, particularly for the afternoon. Probably nothing too heavy, but enough to be damp.

        1. Thanks!!!

Yeah we thought many would respond no due to holiday weekend but we were mistaken. Also because it’s 5 year olds we are not allowing drop off, so its a lot of parents as well.

          1. Best of luck Hadi. I sincerely hope you get decent weather, at the very least DRY!

Is it your birthday or one of your children’s?

            😀

              1. Oh, well happy birthday then. Enjoy! Doesn’t your company give you your birthday off? 😀 😀 😀

I guess there aren’t very many who do that. 😀 😀

    1. Did we ever honestly think that Memorial Day weekend would be good?
Although there have been nice Memorial Day weekends, I can’t remember
too many. I suppose my memory banks only call up the bad ones, but real or perceived, it sure seems like more often than not, Memorial Day weekend weather sucks around these parts. Spring weather around here sucks in general.

  7. Woods Hill Weather account temporarily down so will be updating a bit later…

Refer to SAK’s forecast for his thoughts. I probably won’t be able to update until around 3PM.

  8. If the weekend is clouds, some sun and a daily shower threat, and 60F to 70F, I have no complaints.

Just looking to avoid continuous drizzle with periodic rain, NE wind, and highs in the upper 40s, which I can recall before on a Memorial Day Weekend.

  9. Happy Birthday, Hadi!

Agree with Tom’s statement on the upcoming weekend weather. Doesn’t have to be as beautiful as this past weekend to be satisfactory. Just no 40s and low 50s with drizzle, fog, and rain. It doesn’t look like the latter will happen.

    1. This past was absolutely the best for working outside in yards . However I am quite red .

  10. I can’t think of many things better than a beautiful, balmy, 50-degree rainy May 22 in North Reading. 🙁

  11. After the past couple days, I think we’ve hit our quota of nice days for the month. Once you get to about four good ones in a month, you can’t really ask for much more 😉

    Happy birthday Hadi!

    1. Not in March, April or May. Starting in June we “should” expect the number
of monthly nice days to increase dramatically!!!! Emphasis on “should”. I have
seen some pretty shitty Junes as well.

  12. No signs of any serious ridging developing in the East. We’ll probably keep clawing at the “average” mark for the next couple weeks, but I agree with TK’s assessment that you’ll be waiting at least til mid June if you want consistent 80s. And at that point, it’s basically just climo taking over.
