Thursday Forecast

6:47AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 13-17)
Low pressure approaches then moves across the region today with a decent bout of wet weather. The negative is that it will have travel impact including resulting in some area of road flooding. The positive is that it will again knock the pollen count down and help maintain decent top soil moisture for vegetation and development of recently planted local crops. By Friday, the low is gone, and a drying westerly wind takes over, although I still cannot rule out a passing shower that may pop up due to a combination of solar heating and cold air aloft. The weekend starts great with high pressure in control, but a front in the vicinity Sunday, with southern New England on the warmer side of it, means increased humidity and a threat of showers and thunderstorms. The front will remain nearby Monday but we may end up on the other side of it, still unsettled but somewhat cooler, although that remains to be seen.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Overcast. Periods of rain, possibly heavy, with a risk of a thunderstorm. Areas of fog. Highs 62-69, may cool back to upper 50s coast. Wind SE 10-20 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Patchy fog. Humid. Lows 60-67. Wind light variable.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely. Highs 68-75. Wind variable to NE 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 18-22)
Shower/thunderstorm threat lingers with a front in the vicinity June 18 then look for a drying trend thereafter as a little more high pressure takes over. Temperatures near to slightly above normal overall.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 23-27)
Look for a mainly west to east (zonal) flow with a couple opportunities for showers/thunderstorms, but fair weather the majority of the time, and a tendency for the jet stream to lift north in response to building heat over the interior Southeast and Midwest, putting temperatures in southern New England to the warmer side of normal.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

    re: Bruins
Contrary to what others have said,
I believe the Bruins were/are the Better
team. Why did they lose? Well think about
    it. think hard….

      1. I was thinking along the lines of sloppy puck handling and untimely line changes. The Blues were simply the better team in the series.

  2. Re the bruins…

Nice comments from TK and from Joshua last night. Again, I have no knowledge of the game so have a very different perspective. I’ve been around long enough to appreciate that a team who gets to the last game of the finals does not suck. I’ve also been around long enough to know that if the play didn’t meet the audience’s expectations that it doesn’t mean the team did not play to their fullest. It means they were outplayed. Remember, a team doesn’t have to win to be respected.

I learned one thing. Hockey is a truly exciting sport. I was on the edge of my seat and truly enjoyed following the fast play.

    1. Well said my friend. Sure, it was disappointing but I have always taught my boys that if you make it to the final game you have done your job. No shame in that game!

      1. Completely agree, Sue.

Believe me, I feel it. The loss is hard to swallow for a fan like myself. I love hockey and the Bruins. But, it’s important to reflect upon the entertainment the Bruins provided us and what they accomplished. I’ve never been a 1st place or no place person. Winning is great. But, there is no shame in coming in second. I had to turn off the radio just now because all I hear is the whining about losing. Come on. The Bruins are human. They made mistakes. We all do in whatever profession we’re in. Tip your caps to the Blues. But also realize that the vast majority of the hockey world is jealous of the Bruins.

  3. Vicki, I’m glad you enjoyed your hockey experience. It’s such a beautiful game. And those guys have immense talent, but also work really hard at staying in shape, their skill set, game planning, etc … It’s a relatively short off season. Someone like Bergeron probably goes home to Quebec City for 4-6 weeks, takes it easy. But by early August he’s training again; September is pre-season; early October the first regular season game. It’s a grind.

      1. It was heavier in Sutton a while ago but still steady light-moderate rain. Wind is gusting up to mid teens. Temp 54. I switched to long sleeves.

  4. Fairly heavy rain in Boston, though the radar looks like the heavier stuff will be fairly short-lived. It’s cool, though; 53F, and I don’t think that’ll budge much today with the onshore wind.

  5. To answer the question why did the Bruins lose big reason Jordan Binnington and the performances he had making some unbelievable saves. Bruins had there chances and had the ice tilted in their favor for most of that first period. When the Blues got the lead there defense took control.

    1. Absolutely agree and that’s all I’m saying regarding this matter . Blown opportunities.

  6. You know, sometimes it’s just as simple as…. the team was outplayed. It was nothing more than that. Part of that was JB making some insane saves. Rask did that in some games these playoffs too. It can go either way, any day, like the weather.

This is one of the reasons I don’t get “sports depression”. Does it suck to get that close and not win it all? Sure. But after what I’ve witnessed in this town, I’ll NEVER complain about a loss again.

    1. Yes but not 100%. With a trough passing overhead there will be some instability.

  7. I’m stuck down in Houston. 3x delays so far from “low cloud deck” at Logan. Nice and warm here. I’d bring some home but our climate won’t have it!

    1. How come all of a sudden low clouds are causing significant flight delays? This was not the case before. We’re having ONE day like this. Most of the last 3 weeks have been quite good around here. A friend of mine was delayed departing recently due to “low ceiling”? HUH? That makes zero sense.

      1. Funny too watching a bunch of impatient new englanders wigging out. I’m like guys, the bar is …. right there!

        1. I didn’t say that. What I meant was that condition never used to cause flight delays but suddenly this year it does and I’m not sure why. These planes are more than capable of flying in low to zero visibility, even on take off and landing. That’s what IRF is. It’s just somewhat puzzling how I never heard of significant “cloud delays” until literally the past month or so.

            1. I can believe that. I’d just like to know why it seems to be an issue where before it was not.

  8. These two goalies were awesome. Task had no help with slow offense by 2 period. Bruins were burnt

  9. I think we may string 6 muggy days together starting Sunday. Summer feel, without major heat though.

      1. It won’t be overcast the entire time either. It’ll be an in-and-out clouds/sun thing, even though I have worded “mostly cloudy” on a couple of those days in my new update, we’ll still have some sunshine.
