  1. According to Director Dr. Redfield of the CDC, any potential vaccine won’t be available until “summer or autumn” 2021. 🙁

    1. Actually, I’d put a smiley face on that, as Redfield is leveling with Americans. Realism is better than creating false hopes. Mark Meadows today raised expectations recklessly by saying that we’ll have a vaccine by the end of this month. Even if it was proven a vaccine’s first dose had efficacy by the end of this month that does NOT mean: a. It will be approved; b. It’ll be available to the public. On the other hand, Redfield’s scenario is realistic. We’ll likely have widespread availability of a vaccine by the summer of 2021.

It’s official, Spain is doing worse than the U.S. 11,193 new cases today and the most new deaths (239) since 1st week of May. Spain now with 647 deaths/million, compared to US at 607. US is about to surpass the UK to move to number 3 in the industrialized world in terms of death rate. Only Spain and Belgium are worse.

      1. Thanks Joshua but I’ll keep the sad face. 🙁

Will Americans be willing to continue at this same stage for a second consecutive year???

        Mask wearing
        No parades
        Limited access to venues
        No huge gatherings
        Limited or no “indoor” dining
Periodic empty store shelves (current product of the month: paper towels)
        On and on and on…

What year do we get our lives back? 2022? 2023? 2024? The 2nd half of this decade???

  2. I just heard on the evening Ch. 5 news that the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in Plymouth has been cancelled.

I imagine Sue is very disappointed (but not surprised).

  3. Joshua. I’m curious about the information coming out abiut the astra vaccine. The report I heard…and it may be premature or being politicized …is that a healthy younger woman developed transverse myelitis. I think this is similar but not occurring along with Guillain-Barré syndrome. GB as you know was the reason for stopping the 1970s swine flu vaccine. As an aside, I was diagnosed with sensory GB a bit over a year ago

  4. Philip, I think we’re seeing glimpses of how the nation is `living with the virus’ in the return of sports. But, clearly things aren’t normal as you point out. When will we get to be fully normal? Not until late next year or spring 2022. But, gradually getting more normal beginning in spring of 2021 when the vaccines are given to those most in need.
