  1. We may have some relief in the Corona Virus crises!!

Joe Biden now leads in both Georgia and Pennsylvania in addition to continuing to lead in Arizona and Nevada, which means he is very likely to be the next President of the United States!!!!

Finally we may get the idiot in chief out of the White House!!!

A great day for this country!

    1. Trump probably keeps North Carolina, albeit by a slim margin. Election night looked very bleak for Biden, to say the least.

  2. It is always a great day when someone is elected by the American people, but the election process should always be transparent. There are some questions about the legitimacy of the ballots and counts and it absolutely needs to be looked into. Why wouldn’t an observer be allowed in to watch the ballot counting process? If the appropriate process is being followed then what is the big deal? We need to protect the integrity of elections.

    1. GOP lawyer: Trump legal challenges “are not going to impact the outcome”
      From CNN’s Ariane de Vogue

A republican lawyer in Pennsylvania, who is not part of the Trump legal team but is familiar with election challenges, says legal challenges in the commonwealth get Trump nowhere.

“These challenges are not going to impact the outcome because none of them are going after the actual vote casts, they are all process challenges,” the source said.
And even a Hail Mary scenario – where a Republican-led legislature would say there is too much chaos and decide the elector – now has been publicly dismissed by top leaders in Pennsylvania.

“The Pennsylvania General Assembly does not have, and will not have, a hand in choosing the state’s presidential electors or in deciding the outcome of the presidential election,” Pennsylvania State Senator Jake Corman, a Republican, said in an op-ed.

“To insinuate otherwise is to inappropriately set fear into the Pennsylvania electorate with an imaginary scenario not provided for anywhere in law — or in fact,” he continued.
The lawyer notes that Republicans in the Georgia and Florida legislature would push back hard on such a radical scenario trying to override a popular vote. That would be a potential way for them to lose their majorities down the road. And a lawyer for the Wisconsin legislature already told the Supreme Court how effective the electoral administration was.

“It’s not going to happen,” the lawyer said about future challenges. “The next 48 hours will bring that clarity.”

        1. They were in. The issue was they wanted to get closer
          and they were allowed.

All his so-called law suits are bogus just like he is.

          1. In some places yes, but not all and if they wanted to get closer why not let them as long as it is more than 6 feet? What can you see from 30 feet away? Does integrity not matter anymore?

        2. Scott you have a point. My understanding having listened to folks from PA is that there needs to be safe area For folks other than poll workers and watchers to move. Either way, I’d be saying the same were it Biden behind.

Hard to fault other states such as GA and AZ as they are Republican led.

Meanwhile, Trump needs to be silenced. I blame his speech Last night for inciting his alleged QAnon followers. And I really fault the right as a whole for not very vocally denouncing Bannon.

          1. In some places they were also covering up windows. Can’t explain that one either. I would be voicing these concerns regardless of who it was. If we lose the integrity of our elections then people will start to question our democracy.

            1. I listened to a report by a conservative that the windows were boarded up because people on the other side of the glass were taking photos and videoing and there was a real concern They would get voter info.

I do wish the right wing media had been this outraged by fake ballot boxes placed in CA by republicans and also trumps blatant lies….then and now…about voter fraud. Workers both right and left are saying quite clearly that they have not seen fraud. It is difficult for me to watch these folks working night and day at minimum wage….many seniors….attacked by fox and other right wing media.

          2. I will add that pretty much since the mail ins were being counted, watchers have been close. And with rare exception, Biden is trending 60-65% above trump.

    2. I have always wondered why we can’t do “online” voting. We shop, bank, etc. and everything else.

Imagine just “point & click” for your favorite candidate and/or ballot question. I bet results would come in much quicker. We certainly have more than enough technology by now to keep hackers away, I would think.

    1. I listened to McCain and Bush Sr and gore today. As you know I grew up working for the Republican Party. Even now, I have said many times that I think we would be better off with a Republican gov and slight majority dem Congress. I never declared as an R. I’ve always been an I. The party as we knew it and when it was great no longer exists. I believe it can get back. But it cannot with the current president….I’m not even sure the country can survive him for another term. But I’m already seeing signs of a FEW republicans Supporting the democratic process and insisting all votes are counted.

    2. This and then I’ll stop

Ginsberg is the most prominent Republican election lawyer in the country. I listened to him this morning as well as a few days ago. It makes me cry…I mean literally….for what grand old party has become. Trump has railed about imaginary fraud while he deliberately and systematically suppressed votes. The discussion now is what nefarious things are happening. Where was that discussion then?

  3. Meanwhile the virus is going crazy with the number of new cases in the US exceeding 100,000 yesterday and deaths over 1,000. I feel as though politicians in DC could not care less.

    1. Biden attended a virtual covid briefing yesterday. I do believe he cares. Some on both sides I’d like to slap up side the head.

      1. Hopefully virus cases go down somewhat with these mild/warm temps here in NE and much of the nation. Folks can get back to gathering out of doors more often and take advantage.

I have to disagree with Baker restricting hours of restaurants. I don’t see how an hour or two makes much difference, and I don’t believe that restaurants by themselves spread the virus all that much. It’s huge gatherings indoors within individual homes and apartments imo, not a handful of diners every now and then.

        1. Philip, I’d be curious to hear joshuas thoughts on closing restaurants early. Out this way and even in framingham when we were here, the amount of people in restaurants after 9:30 was minimal. I do suspect Boston is much different. But is that more groups and party goers?

      2. Agree.

Hoping Biden, if he gets in, does something more concrete than what has been going on for the last 2-3 months.

        1. I’m unsure what you mean. What are you seeing in the last few months? I know he is respecting covid but not sure what he could do otherwise. I Do appreciate your input.

For me, I’m hoping he can start the healing process in this country. I’m not sure we can do a lot of anything until we address that

  4. The Governor wants all in school learning Full time . Ok when the flu hits soon
Will you still be singing that tune . I feel like Baker is not the same lately in my opinion

    1. I am so angry that he and Riley and DESE have declared they will prioritize learning foe in school students. It is no surprise that I believe remote is a better option. But I also understand it should not be the only option. NOR SHOULD IN SCHOOL. To discount kids who cannot be safely in school is repulsive.

As I said the other day…..don’t anyone tell me science shows covid isn’t in schools.

      https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19-is-creeping-into-europes-schools-11602581400

    2. I agree re baker. Some thought is That he is thinking of a run for President and wants to keep republicans happy. Whatever the reason, I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for him. Not only because of schools but because of his comment that he is not making restrictions mandatory because people in MA do as they should…..direct quote. If they do as they should……why does he need to add SUGGESTED restrictions

      1. I absolutely agree Vicki! He speak from both sides of his mouth. He comes out with new restrictions, but yet kids should be in school learning because as they say they are concerned with other health concerns like depression, anxiety and others. I’m sorry, but I’m not sending my kids to school in a bus with open windows in the Winter time with the elements coming in. Then when they get to school and understandably so have also these protocols to adhere to(distancing, hand washing, etc). What is the benefit?

        1. I do know for a fact that in most public schools there is very little distancing. Kids do keep their masks on.

A neighboring town had one teacher case. As a result, an entire grade had many teachers quarantined so no one to teach Whatever subject those teachers taught. How is this better for kids?

I need to be clear. I absolutely agree that if possible parents should have the option for hybrid. But it is equally imperative that parents have an option for full remote. And putting focus on just one group is irresponsible. If a child is at risk or has family at risk in the house, that child does not deserve to have a lesser education.

The three feet guidelines is also ludicrous. He wants six feet our of school……he CANNOT dictate three feet in school. That is basically what kids were anyway. But he knows that at six feet, schools cannot accommodate all kids in school. So is he throwing all restrictions out for schools?

It might be a bit obvious that I am furious. I hate putting even one child or one teacher or staff member at risk. I have little use for DESE anyway. And far less for Riley

        2. Scott would you or have you considered home school? Both my girls have it on the back burner as my dad would have said

          1. My wife and I were concerned about your first paragraph as well that it just wasn’t happening. I also agree that parents should have options for hybrid or fully remote. Luckily in my town they offer these options, but they almost make you feel bad if you are not hybrid. If they didn’t we would absolutely consider a home schooling option.

            1. I have your email. Maybe we can chat tomorrow by email.

In addition to all I’ve said here, baker has raised the number you need for your town to be red. At a time when our cases are rising significantly

              1. Yeah I know makes so much sense right. I’ve got a full day of yard cleanup ahead of me tomorrow. Will be good to blow off some steam.

    1. By the way, minutes after I posted this I got flak from a liberal (“how could you post anything positive about this administration?”). Similarly, when I post anything critical of Trump Administration’s response to Covid or the attempts to repeal ACA I get flak from conservatives. I detest our national dialogue at this point. It’s severely polarized and deeply pathological as a result.

I call balls and strikes as best I can. When I see good coming out of the Trump Administration on healthcare I definitely will call it that way. Just as when I’ve seen the bad – and it’s been very awful at times – from the Trump Administration I will call them out on that.

      1. I will read. Fair is always fair. It is nice to hear he a positive

I find that I can get the same when I disagree with a liberal stance and there are some I whole heartedly disagree with. Between you and me…don’t tell anyone else 😉 ..I always believe in giving credit where credit is due. It has been sparse with this president who has no moral compass and I have never thought the end justifies the means.

        1. I agree. There’s not much credit I can give to Trump himself. But, he has hired some excellent people to run the HHS. They’re more conservative than I am. But, that doesn’t matter. From Gottlieb (FDA) to Hahn (FDA) to Azar (HHS) to Adams (Surgeon General) to Verma (CMS) there have been some highly competent individuals who’ve carried out their mission with honor.

  5. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be making their own separate Primetime speeches tonight. I don’t of the exact time though.

What time is considered “primetime” these days?…8, 9 or 10?

  6. Joshua…..how long before a positive test….allowing for test results…..would a person be considered contagious. I seem to think 2 days Before symptoms but I don’t think allows for test result time or even symptom

    1. Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to that question. I also believe it’s 2 days, but don’t quote me on it.

  7. Headed for another global record in terms of daily recorded deaths. Already at 8,926. Will add to that by at least a few hundred, I believe. Previous record was set 2 days ago: 9,059. Europe and the Americas lead the way. Others parts of the globe are almost unscathed by the 2nd wave.

U.S. will post its 4th straight day with more than 1,100 deaths. Hospitalizations will reach a record level by next week, at more than 61,000 nationwide.
