  1. PHE England is very thorough in its analysis of the new variant (Delta). Seem MUCH more on top of things than our CDC.

You’ll see in the tweet below a table with data on who’s getting infected with the Delta variant. While it’s mostly the unvaccinated a significant number of infected individuals are those who’ve had 1 dose and a smaller number (just over 5%) are those who’ve been fully vaccinated. Yet, there have been plenty of deaths among the fully vaccinated. I must say this table provides a different picture of what’s happening than what the manufacturers, FDA, and CDC are saying. I realize they don’t want to be alarmist, and they shouldn’t be. The vaccines do work well. But, I believe that public agencies should level with people. The vaccines do NOT protect as well against severe disease and death as the clinical trial data that keeps getting touted. And so, it behooves people to still be mindful – not paranoid – about the need for mitigation. I sincerely don’t understand the CDC guidance at this point, which basically says no more distancing, no more masks, and no more crowd limits indoors. I’m baffled by that. No other Western country is doing this. Others are still taking precautions. We’re not at all.

    1. I am not familiar with the UK and how politics enters into something such as this. I suspect you understand it a whole lot better than I do.

I do believe Biden has done a far better job at facing the pandemic than Trump. However, I also feel his desire to be able to say “look what I did” hurts his ability to be completely objective.

Also, It is this that causes vaccine hesitancy. I know my girls have it when it comes to their kids. I do also. I frankly do not trust the CDC, FDA and have lost some respect for the American academy of pediatrics. All have openly fit their standards …in some cases….to what they want the scenario to be and not what it is.

      1. I find this vaccine hesitancy very frustrating. It’s sad that we have to “bribe” people into getting a shot, and even at that, most aren’t even biting into that anymore. We are going to have vaccinate our way out of this pandemic. Having said that, it is good that the Biden administration is donating 500 million doses of vaccines throughout the world. As he emphasized, NO STRINGS ATTACHED! Let us hope that vaccine hesitancy won’t spread elsewhere like it has here in the U.S. If nothing else, it would be a crying shame to have that many doses wasted.

        1. I understand your view. Clearly I didn’t hesitate. But we have vaccines yet to be fully approved and agencies that have shown they can’t be fully trusted. Sometimes it makes me wonder which group of us made the best decision

That’s for adults. For youth, I absolutely understand hesitancy.

        2. Philip I agree fully with your comments re donating vaccines. Part of me wondered why he went with a two step vaccine rather than the JJ one and done

          1. Just a thought. The JJ is the one with the side effect of blood clotting. Another reason could be a greater supply of the two shot vaccines. Not to mention the Pfizer has the very best protection at 95%.

            1. I wonder the same also. However, we are still offering JJ here. You may be right about supply.

  2. Agree with Vicki and Philip’s comments!

I’m not a Biden basher at all. He’s done a better job than his predecessor. But, I do think politics gets in the way of sound judgment. Even someone as modest as Biden wants to show the American people that he’s done a good job. I think he has overall (despite my criticism), but I believe that at the FDA and CDC some politics is being played to ensure the Biden Administration is seen in a good light. I’m wary of that.

The U.S. is on a plateau. Certainly a MUCH lower caseload than during the winter, so that’s good. And many of us are protected. My concern is for the unvaccinated, the 1-mRNA/dose-and- done people, and the fully vaccinated with serious underlying health conditions.

The UK recorded more than 8,100 cases today. Accelerated growth in just a few weeks, 91% of which are Delta variant cases. Hospitalizations are way up and now average an increase of 100 a day across the nation.

Earlier this week India recorded well over 6,000 deaths in one day. Some of these were backlogged, but still it’s a tremendous toll.

Globally, we’re seemingly stuck at an average of around 10,000 deaths a day – and that’s the official toll, which is an undercount.

South Africa is in the midst of an expanding 3rd wave, as well as many other African countries.

All in all, the pesky virus is not meekly leaving through a back-door exit. It’s fighting back with all the means it has at its disposal and presenting the world with considerable challenges. I’m very glad the Biden Administration is donating hundreds of millions of doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to the world.

    1. I absolutely agree with every word in your first paragraph. The other paragraphs truly scare me.

  3. My youngest just mentioned colleges bribing kids with free tuition. This is a vaccine that has been tested on youth for a very, very short time. But the main problem is that this is nothing short of bribery. What kind of a lesson is that for kids….either who accept the bribe or who, for reasons they are entitled to have or for health reasons that don’t allow them to have the vaccine, chose not to get the vaccine. What kind of a lesson is this for the millions who have worked hard to pay off loans or who have loans that will haunt them for years.

    1. Six Flags is offering free passes to those who get a shot at their parks.

Yes, Six Flags is doubling as a vaccination site as well as an amusement park. What are we as a nation coming to? Isn’t Covid-19 more than incentive enough??

      1. What? No donuts and beer to go along with the free pass?! But America…………………….
