  1. Joshua, I posted a series of comments re boosters last night and wondered your thoughts. Some of info in the emails I received from hospitals seemed different from what I’d been reading although made sense to me

Krista…..you hit the nail on the head. I like to listen to various boards of health but I can only take so much of the comments from call in folks. Not only have we learned which of course changes the message, but we have a ton more to learn.

  2. good morning Doc.

To answer your CPAP question yesterday, my new machine arrived late in the day yesterday and I took a look.

It is a RESMED unit. yeah NOT a Philips Respironics machine.

My respiratory company was a bit back logged, but they had the machines and did deliver.

  3. I have a RESMED and love it. But the auto-off feature keeps breaking. I’m on my 4th machine in the last year.

  4. Fwiw, 81% of MA residents believe in masks inside schools. I don’t know who conducted that poll though.

  5. Vicki, I’m sorry I didn’t respond earlier.

It’s hard for me to gauge the data on boosters. Vaccines appear to be wearing off. Israel has responded – and the UK (and now US) – with a set of steps designed to implement booster programs.

I think boosters will be needed, and probably for most people ultimately. But, there will be a prioritization, beginning with immunocompromised and elderly.

    1. No worries. Thank you. I was more focused on the inconsistent messages philip and I seem to be receiving. But I figure it is because the powers that be are still figuring it out which I understand.

    1. I absolutely agree. You would not believe some of the reasons they give. In a thread of over 200 parents who are sure masks will be the end of their children, we has a high school senior post. Imo. Every other damned comment should have been deleted with hers left standing. She politely and respectfully made these folks look like the two year olds

Actually, two year olds have more sense

The mantra is “just let each parent choose,”. Choose what? Whether their kid can put everyone else at risk?

Hehehehe. I just spoke to my insurance company. I was sure nothing would be covered but am clearly not in a good frame of mind 🙂

    1. I’m honestly still befuddled by people who have concerns about the vaccine (that I understand – they even might be valid in some cases) but clearly don’t seem to be weighing their concerns based on nothing solid against the clear empirical data re getting covid and the horrors that exist there – it’s not like we are all just getting the vaccine for kicks people – ahooo!!

  6. Vicki, the inconsistent messages on boosters are frustrating, but reflect different interpretations of the data by scientists and clinicians.

I must say, I’m going with my gut here. And my gut is Israeli and British data and their public health officials’ rather swift responses. https://twitter.com/SaraForMissouri/status/1428301872335622148

Just got my shingles and influenza vaccine. A one, two punch. I’m feeling the side effects MUCH more than I felt from the Pfizer Covid-19 shots. I’m really fatigued, have a headache and I’m a bit cold, despite the soupy weather.

      1. Yes, it is two parts. Try to get it soon, so it doesn’t interfere with the timing of your booster.

I got the shingles yesterday and the flu shot as well; on the advice of my favorite anesthesiologist (my daughter….) The thing with the flu shot; it’s available now and who knows what the future will bring.

        1. Good point on flu. Over 65 was not available last two years so I had 4 strain or was it 3. I will opt for that again. I have not been able to get shingles for various reasons. First ones were live and my kids kept having babies so I couldn’t be around them. Then Macs oncologist advised me not to get. Then covid. Now wil plan to get after wedding.

I have heard a lot of folks say they were hit hard. SClarke…was second as strong?

          1. I had about the same reaction to both doses. But, the second one didn’t seem as bad because I was expecting it.

    1. I got the shingles vaccine not long before the pandemic began. I had a pretty strong reaction too. When I got the second dose, I was able to time it better so that most of the bad part was overnight. I hope you feel better soon.

        1. All I can say is hang in there Joshua and get better soon! I received my shingles and flu shot at the same time last August at CVS in which I had very little reaction. I guess every body reacts differently. The shingles shot is a one time thing, that’s what my PCP told me. I plan to get my annual flu shot maybe next week or sometime early next month (September).
