    1. And he is ticked at the media…..talk about being completely incapable of assuming responsibility. He lied and said he was immunized. He has now exposed the team and anyone else. If he didn’t believe in the vaccine……then man up and tell the truth.

      1. I have lost all respect for him. I hope none of his team mates
contract covid from him. My understanding is that he was
also an anti-masker on top of not being vaccinated. A double whammy!

  1. It’s Saturday, usually a slightly lower count than weekdays, and yet the rapid ascent in Covid-19 indicators continues across the Netherlands: Cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are rising fast. Highest number of daily cases in 8 months. Test positivity is nearing 20%, in a nation that doesn’t test as much as its neighbors (does NOT do asymptomatic testing, for example). Every day hospitalizations are increasing by around 50, in a nation of 17 million. That’s alarming, as you can imagine.

    1. It’s always good to see a decrease in daily cases in the UK. Let’s hope it continues. As Professor Pagel pointed out yesterday, however, the decrease in cases has coincided with a decline in the numbers of tests in Britain for 2 straight weeks, test positivity has risen slightly, and numbers of hospitalizations have gradually gone up over that time period.

          1. I don’t get it either.

Furthermore, the number of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are higher now than a month ago.

Moving forward, I can’t and won’t predict the UK’s path, other than to say it’s precarious.

Also, I should add that any time I’m giving hospitalization figures for the UK/Netherlands/Germany it’s a net number. So, in the Netherlands the net number rose by 50 today. This could mean 80 new hospitalizations and 30 discharges, I don’t know the precise numbers of new and discharged.

              1. Does this country necessarily have to always go through the same fate as Europe? Any chance we could luck out?

  2. We’re heading back to London to get married on Thanksgiving Day. We’ve decided to skip indoor close proximity things like going to the theatre due to the high numbers and lack of masking. Fingers crossed they go with ‘Plan B’ soon…

    1. First of all, congratulations!

The good news is that thus far the London area has done comparatively well for the most part. I’m not saying this will continue, but as of now this is the case.

  3. Philip, you ask an excellent question. While the UK/Europe have often been bellwethers there have been a few exceptions. First, our Sunbelt wave in 2020 didn’t start in Europe. In fact, the UK/Europe were close to zero cases in parts of the summer of 2020. Second, our Alpha wave was muted in comparison to Europe, perhaps because at the time – March/April – our vaccination campaign was off to a better start than Europe’s.

It’s different now. I don’t see mitigating factors, other than the fact that we’re boosting a lot. But, they’re doing so in Britain and Germany (and elsewhere), too.

  4. BREAKING NEWS…The Federal Court has temporarily blocked President Biden’s vaccination mandate for workers.

    1. Not so “breaking” after all. Sorry Vicki. I didn’t realize you already posted that information. Thanks. 😉

    2. trumps court.
this is awful news and mst cause me to have quit my job. I am NOT going to an office where many staff are not vaccinated.

  5. Not a legal expert. So, the federal court injunction is gobbledy-gook to me. I guess the court is saying the President can’t mandate the vaccines and even the mask or testing requirements, despite the competing principle of public health. `Liberty’ trumps public health.

But here’s where I truly don’t understand it. Every school in America that my children attended required a slew of vaccinations (and even a doctor’s physical). Every employer I’ve had in America has required a slew of vaccinations plus a number of diagnostic tests (TB, for example) and in two cases, a physical. Were these schools and employers acting in an unconstitutional manner? Surely, I had no recourse whatsoever and had to comply in all instances. Not that I didn’t want to comply. But suppose I was an anti-vaxxer.

    1. I so agree. And when Mac was having chemo, the flu was really bad. Hospitals were mandating that workers be vaccinated. This is political crap. Sorry, but it is.

At the start of this when governors were making sweeping decisions, I asked several relatives who are also lawyers whether governors could mandate. The consensus was that governors are Required to protect the whole. I messed up the wording, but I suspect you get it

Sadly, if this goes to the supreme court, i fear it is too corrupt to do,what is best for all

  6. This is a reminder that maybe Biden has made some wrong turns, he is also fighting against a brick wall comprised of Trump’s puppets
