Tuesday March 1 2022 Forecast (7:44AM)

DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 1-5)

Hello March! Definitely not stormy or windy enough to be coming in like a lion, so we’ll call it a restless lamb with 2 clipper lows to visit us in the first 60 hours of the month, one passing by tonight and another Wednesday night. Both low centers likely track far enough north so precipitation is limited and enough mild air is involved for more rain than snow, but some areas, especially away from the South Coast, can see some snow from each. The worst would be minor accumulation and temporary slick spots each evening, so be on the look-out for that. Cold high pressure moves in Thursday through Friday then tries to hang on Saturday, but by then we’ll be seeing clouds move back in ahead of an approaching warm front.

TODAY: Mostly cloudy. Highs 35-42. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow/mix/rain showers trending to mostly rain showers. Minor snow accumulation possible interior areas especially away from South Coast Lows 28-34 evening may rise overnight. Wind S 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Variably cloudy. Highs 37-44. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with snow/mix/rain showers likely. Lows 29-36. Wind variable 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY: Sun/cloud mix. Highs 32-39. Wind NW 10-20 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 15-22. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Sunny. Highs 32-39. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 12-19. Wind calm.

SATURDAY: Increasing clouds. Highs 35-42. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (MARCH 6-10)

Unsettled weather with a variety of precipitation possible and a possible complex temperature profile during March 6-8 (lots to sort out here), then dry/chilly weather toward the end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (MARCH 11-15)

Temperatures near to below normal. Additional unsettled weather as we likely sit near a battle zone between cold to north and mild to south.

  1. I always like to think of today as being spring, but I think March brings an average of 9-10” of snow, most occurring in the 1st couple of weeks of the month.

    1. Last night Harvey said Boston averages 9 inches for March.

Let’s see what March delivers this year. πŸ™‚

    2. And we gain a lot of daylight this month and we also move the clock forward an hour in 12 days at 2 AM.

  2. Interesting that TK has all precipitation possibilities still on the table for late weekend while the tv mets have rain with temps rising into the 50s.

  3. On my run, yesterday felt warmer than today, despite it being a solid 10 degrees warmer according to the thermometer. The sun in late February will do that. Perhaps it’s all perception, but gray days really do feel colder.

    1. Mac’s brother called right after I saw this. He got a kick out of the wording. They are desperate for any water so he understood the exaggeration. They have had near to nothing through February and this is their rainy season. A very small percent of their yearly total falls in March so the fear is that what they have had will be close to what they will get.

      1. I was kind of thinking that given the location. πŸ˜‰
It’s not annoying to me – just funny. πŸ™‚
I’m trying to look at this stuff in a lighthearted way these days.

Kind of what you said before, the people with common sense get it, and can separate the good info from the bad. The others, well good luck! πŸ˜‰

        1. I noticed in the article that a person said he was never happier to walk in the rain. Mac’s brother said there was rain a few days ago and they all cheered when they saw that the ground was wet. It amounted in a fraction of an inch sadly. I know they are all very worried.

        2. My guess is anyone in that area gets it. Other parts of the country won’t but they probably won’t see it.

          1. I agree. My friend who writes here sometimes (Julie) lives out there and I don’t think she’d mind if I told you here that she and her daughter have taken walks in the rain to celebrate the fact it was raining. πŸ™‚
