      1. Thing that’s missing here is the Quebec High. It’s been missing all winter, essentially. It’s a key ingredient. Notice what’s happening during these brief periods of cold. The high slides south of us, which changes the wind direction from WNW to SW, and poof, away goes all the cold, with nothing much to replace it to our north, except after a few days lows tracking many hundreds of miles north of us provide us with some backside wrap-around (mitigated) cold air. In addition, the highs that slide to our south seem to stick around like a Bermuda high during summer. It is interesting to note how many Sundays have felt like winter, and indeed how many have actually shown below-normal temperatures in this otherwise mild winter. It seems that this gets repeated week after week.

        1. I agree. I am curious to see where we finish for warmth and snow compared to other winters. Also curious to see how this winter ends. Do we go out with a bang or just contiue like this through spring. I am thinking we have some bulbs coming up a tad bit earlier as well.

        2. Yes, Joshua…most Sundays (and Mondays to an extent) have always been cold but the other days of the week are fairly mild. That SE ridge that has been with us since fall and all winter is not going anywhere anytime soon. If it wasn’t for the month of March, I would be giving up on winter entirely…and that may come sooner than later.

    1. I’m the same way JJ – its great to go away (not that we do very often) but when it comes to a weather event I would want to be here and be very sorry I missed it.

    1. This starts with plowing and ends with our cities and town, can u say slow, larthargic never gonna change keep falling in the rankings, My cousins wife just forced him and there 4 kids to Virginia bc they could deal with outdated Massachusetts sorry to rant, it just frustrates me cause I want people to move here, I want towns and cities to grow and thrive and for some reason we have these people that hold back cities and towns from growing, it’s ludicrous, thanks again

      1. Didn’t u just tell us pop in ma is growing? Husbands family is not pleased with Charlotte growth. It’s not Boston. It’s what you are looking for. I know a gazillion young people who will tell you Boston has more to offer than any other city they’ve lived in.

          1. Charlie. As I’ve said I grew up in Belmont. My grandfather and the Fippins owned majority of land and built majority of houses. My mom was as much a part of the town and it’s politics as anyone who ever lived there. It was a conservative town and a dry town. It went liberal. I don’t recognize it now when I drive through and no one who didn’t know it’s history would recognize it for the proud town it was. I’ll take the Uxbridge and the Pembrokes and the Humarocks before I’d take what happened to Belmont in the name of progression. I figure for those who don’t like it there are other places to live. But young and old I know will take quintessential new England. Why would we want to be like any other place?

  2. I think people move out of the northeast because the property taxes are a killer where in the south it is much cheaper. With that said at least we get to enjoy all four season’s here.

        1. and most of it is usless expecially now since alot of it is bone dry with one of the worse droughts in years

        1. Agreed. I love the seasons And there are times I think mother nature is trying to wipe tx and ca off the map 🙂

      1. Well I learned something today. I never thought Texas was high in taxes since they are in the south and to live
there is cheaper. I do like the four seasons and to me here in New England we could get every type of weather
from flooding, drought, tornadoes, snowstorms you name it which is the reason I love the weather here.

  3. The models have been showing the chance for some type of storm system around the 22nd for the past 4-5 days…but that doesn’t really mean anything

      1. So I am guessing what he said does not look good for us. Is this guy any better than Henry or about the same. The one thing that we can still hinge some hope on is the sneakup storm.

        1. Brett Anderson’s track record is pretty good…he likes snow like any other met, but is always realistic.

          1. It seems that yesterday’s glimmer of hope mention for some blocking up near the Davis Strait the next week or so has disappeared today. Should have known.

  4. As ch7 weather blog saying temps struggling to get in the mid 20s today, I did not think It was really that cold today. Only 2 days this month were we below normal. Last Sunday and this Sunday. Mike W. said we can look forward to a wind and rain storm for Friday.
