  1. Thanks TK.

The continued message on the MBTA:

    “Masks ENCOURAGED”

The vast majority of riders and operators still wear masks as before, easily 90%+ compliance from my observation. You really would never know the mandate had been lifted. I hope T execs have noticed this. It’s totally the opposite of Joshua’s recent subway experience in the U.K.

If cases increase significantly again, it certainly won’t be from Boston public transit imo. I would say, no need to bring the mandate back for now unless more riders get cocky.

  2. Cases up in our school district up after this past weekend. My son was exposed at school on Friday. First time since January. He was 4 days short of being considered fully vaccinated when the exposure happened. So sick of this.

    1. Weather isn’t cooperating. While seasonality is tricky with Covid – several Southern waves have occurred in summer, mostly due to people headed indoors from the extreme heat to air-conditioned but poorly ventilated indoor spaces – there is definitely some correlation. The more time we can spend outdoors and also ventilating our indoor spaces the better. That’s still difficult right now and in much of the Northern tier.

    2. School cases doubled. But masks remain taboo.

The daughter of a friend who lost his wife to cancer a year ago was diagnosed last November. I truly cannot imagine. Her daughter is on a travel basketball team. That entire team limited activities and wore masks the entire season so their friend and teammate didn’t take Covid home to her mom. Yes there are definitely kids who cannot tolerate a mask. But the kids understand the term …for the greater good unless taught otherwise

The best part of this feel good story is that my friends daughter was cancer free after her last PET scan. Thank God.

Why are masks not back in schools? Why are we knowingly exposing our children.

Ace I am so sorry and will keep your guy in my prayers
