Saturday Forecast Update

8:31AM

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 12-16)…
A sliver of high pressure brings fair weather today but not without some early fog and low clouds in some locations and an increase in high cloudiness from the southwest later in the day ahead of the next foul weather system, a system which will bring wet weather in 2 main pulses Sunday morning and late-day. The wet weather system will sweep offshore Monday but upper level low pressure still crossing the New England area from west to east will result in some cloudiness. After that, high pressure takes over Tuesday and Wednesday with fair and warmer weather.
TODAY: Areas of fog and low clouds through mid morning, plenty of sun late morning through afternoon, then fading sun by evening as high clouds increase from the southwest. Highs 75-82. Wind light S to SE.
TONIGHT: Thickening cloudiness. Rain arrives southwest to northeast mainly after 11PM. Lows in the 60s. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mainly cloudy. Rain is most likely early morning and again late afternoon on. Highs in the 70s. Wind SE to variable 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Mainly cloudy. Rain early, tapering off to showers later before ending. Areas of fog. Lows in the 60s. Wind variable mainly S to SW 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Variably cloudy. Highs 68-75. Wind W 10-20 MPH and gusty.
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY: Sunny by day, clear by night. Lows 55-65. Highs 75-85.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 17-21)…
High pressure ridge should hold with fair weather and above normal temperatures September 17-19. Frontal system is expected to bring some unsettled weather in the September 20-21 time frame with a slight cool-down.

DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 22-26)…
Warming early period followed by showers then cooler and drier but still no below normal temperatures indicated as the overall pattern remains warm to mild.

  1. Thanks TK !

If anyone is a tropical system enthusiast, the review the NHC did on recent tropical storm Erika is a must read. It is one of the links on the top of the NHC page.

    1. The lack of wind and already slightly high dewpoint made it easy for the temp to drop right to it overnight. It will take a little while to mix the atmosphere up to get rid of all the stratus this morning.

Here in Woburn we dawned with blue sky (stratus just to the south and west of my location) along with a light but very noticeable fog. Since then the fog is pretty much dissipated but the stratus have drifted back over my section of town to limit the sun. There are breaks and some sunshine though.

    1. Excellent article from a media source that is the least biased in world. Thank you, TK. It is clear that this may mean something or may not. What worrys me is the majority seem to have trouble understanding that climate change has to be separated from our destruction of this planet. Climate is a science and relatively new and will take a long time to understand…if we ever truly can. Destruction of our earth is very real and there should be no room for debate nor is there time for it. I’d like to say it is my ooinion because it is, but I have trouble understanding how what we are doing to the earth, water and Sky will not have drastic consequences.

As you said….we are not separate from our environment.

      1. Indeed. If we have the ability to take care of it and maintain it, we also have the ability to damage and even destroy it. It’s not a one-way street.

  2. Back to best coaches in the NFL past and present, this would be my top 10 list :
    1) George Halas
    2)Bill Bellicheck
    3)Vince Lombardy
    4)Don Shula
    5)Tom Landry
    6)Joe Gibbs
    7)Jimmy Johnson
    8)John Madden
    9)Chuck Knoll
    10)Curly Lambeu

    1. I can only comment on coaches 1960 to current
      1. (tied) Vince Lombardi Bill Belichick
2 (all tied) Bill Walsh Chuck Knoll Tom Landry Jimmy Johnson Don Shula Joe Gibbs
3 (tied) John Madden Hank Stram Bill Parcells
All above are amazing coaches and I enjoyed watching their teams.
To bring the weather into it, my favorite games were the NFL Ice Bowl in Green Bay with Bart Starr against Dandy Don Meredith and the “Snowy Tuck Rule Bowl” when Brady and Vinatieri beat the Raiders; the miracle 41 yard field goal through the snow tied it up in the 4th quarter.

  3. Great weather day in the city . We just got back from the north end and now going in the pool before dinner later.spectacular room view of the harbor and city just spectacular and can’t wait till nighttime.

    1. Have fun SSK. You may be at the hotel we were thinking of. We have friends who stay there a few times a year and love it

          1. Very nice. I was thinking intercontinental but think they are in same area. So glad you are having a perfect weekend.

        1. At least for part of it. I happened to be on the phone when he hit it and then used the live rewind feature Comcast has and only got back to the replay of it in that inning…transmission was all messed up.

          1. Oh boy. I suspect there are a lot of unhappy people. As they should be.

I see the patriots hand in this 😆

  4. I saw the highlights. What a great catch that was in the final seconds.
I am hoping there won’t be that much drama with the Cowboys tonight against the Giants. I want a nice easy win to start the season but I know in my heart it won’t be as the Giants always play us tough.

  5. Trying to brighten some here. 62 with 62 DP. Air is heavy (odd phrase isn’t it) with some light fog. Seems pretty much as you said overall TK. Any rain is beneficial, especially with as little as we have had; but there was not very much of it. I never remember where to find totals but wonder if most areas got much more than an inch, if that.
