Friday Forecast Update

7:23AM

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 11-15)…
Low pressure slowly departs today and cool, moist air will be slow to give up to drier air moving in from the west, so some wet weather and cloudiness will linger before clearing finally arrives this evening. That dry air will only be with us for a part of the weekend, Saturday daytime and evening, before another low pressure area moves in from the south and brings more wet weather Sunday. Monday’s weather may end up somewhat similar to today’s as this low slowly pulls out of the region while waiting for upper level low pressure to swing through. But by Tuesday, high pressure will be building in both at the surface and aloft and result in a quick switch back to fair and warmer weather.
TODAY: Cloudy through midday with occasional showers, then breaking clouds west to east and drying out. Highs 68-75. Wind N 5-15 MPH gusting over 20 MPH, shifting to NW.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear. Lows in the 50s. Diminishing NW wind.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy. Highs 75-83. Wind variable to S up to 10 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Showers arriving overnight. Lows in the 60s. Wind light SE.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy. Occasional showers. Highs in the 70s. wind SE to variable 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Chance of showers. Lows 55-65. Highs 65-75.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 55-65. Highs 75-85.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 16-20)…
Mainly dry weather then a chance of showers by the end of the period. Temperatures above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 21-25)…
Temperatures will running mostly above normal with a few episodes of showers early and late period.

  1. Thanks TK !

Kind of like a cold season storm down here this morning.

Wind driven thick mist from the north, occasionally gusty.

  2. Thanks Tk hang in there buddy. Could anybody answer do you think tomorrow night stays dry say atleast till 11. It’s our big day/ night in Boston. Thanks.

  3. A WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really enjoyed that game last night. Wife did as well. She is hoarse this morning.

    re: weather

Putrid day. I hate these kind of miserable good for nothing days.

    Re: NWS
What a freakin joke!!! The only way we would have had a flood last night is if
I emptied the contents of my bath tub into a bucket!!!

I understand that in far Southeastern MA and Southern RI and CT, it was a different
story, but up here. ha ha ha ha. JOKEARAMA!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. :).

I do like the way the Pats addressed (or didnt) the last seven months.

I’m also getting a huge kick out of the shift and rothlesbergers comments. If they knew it was legal and they knew ahead the Pats do this, why were they not prepared? Cracks me up that none of the other coaches, owners, players see that if they spent less time complaining and more focusing on their game they could be winning also. Both teams had headset issues. One whined. The other focused. Guess which one won.

My soapbox is being out away now πŸ™‚

      1. Love your soap box. Please keep on it.

Mrs. JPD was really pissed at the announcers last night.
We can’t stand how the national announcers are ALWAYS
for the other team!! Exception, Phil Sims on the CBS broadcasts.

We SHOULD have put Zolak on the radio for a more
entertaining experience!!! Might try that next time around.

        1. If you have HDTV its tough bc there’s a delay. The radio is always about 5 seconds ahead of the TV broadcast.

  4. Thanks TK.
Nice win by the Pats. I hope my Cowboys could start the season with a win Sunday night.
We got meteorologist Fred Campagna at WTNH who used to work up in Boston and in Rhode Island. Is he a good meteorologist in your opinions and hopefully he is a great addition to the weather team.
Remembering those who lost their lives 14 years ago today. Its amazing how much time has passed.

  5. Love today’s weather. Something neat about knowing it is coming right between 2 stretches of warm to hot weather. πŸ™‚

  6. Thanks TK.

Hang in there and take advantage of the time you have with him. Thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

  7. Thanks again everyone πŸ™‚

Looks like rain amounts were about as expected and now we’ll start to see those breaks and partial sun. No washout today. πŸ™‚

    1. I thought earlier in the week you did not expect wide spread rain?

I received around 1.30″ A very nice drink for the lawns.

      1. The comparison of what fell is to yesterday’s forecast, not earlier in the week. The amounts fell in the expected range.

Also never bought a total overcast for today. Went for a partly sunny or “breaking clouds” trend for the afternoon.

Others were expecting a washout and as far as I was concerned that was not likely.

  8. 1.49 here, it was good!!! and I think another .25-.50 for Saturday night/Sunday judging by models. We shall see. Next week is looking like a beautiful week starting cool and ending around 80 degrees. Daylight is equal to March 29th. πŸ™‚

  9. I’ve had it with the national media. Really disgusted with them. Exhibits A, B, and C were provided by Cris Collinsworth: A. He told the national audience that the headset issue was to be expected at Gillette. He basically regurgitated ESPN’s report and used the word “shenanigans.” Cris, talk about things you know, and not things you don’t know. It’s shameful to have a nationally televised game be announced by biased commentators. B. He declared he had read Judge Berman’s ruling and was surprised it didn’t contain “the facts” of the case. First, it was not Judge Berman’s job to do a Wells report #2, it was his job to rule on the fairness of the suspension given the case as presented by the NFL. Second, the problem throughout deflategate has been the lack of facts or evidence on the deflation of footballs. Some circumstantial evidence, yes. Bad optics, yes. But, no “facts.” C. Perhaps the worst sin of all is the ridiculous praise of Antonio Brown at the end of the 4th quarter, especially after he had scored a garbage time touchdown and celebrated this meaningless TD by pointing to the crowd and basically being the “me” guy. Cris, can’t you see that besides the criminal element that is endemic throughout the league, narcissism is what ails the NFL – these egotistical, highly talented players like Brown, Bryant, McCoy who celebrate at inappropriate moments and hardly ever display a team attitude. The Patriots are all about team, intelligence, and strategy. They’re not the most talented team, in my view, but they are the best because they work as a team. Collinsworth should recognize that and praise it. Instead, because he has an aversion to the Patriots and intelligent play he focuses on the physical attributes of mostly selfish players.

    1. OUTSTANDING Joshua! Expertly stated and I agree 100%!!!

      Very nice job.

OH HOW I want the Pats to go 16-0! I know it’s virtually impossible, but
I sure hope they do it and Brady tosses 75 TD passes!!!

OH, did anyone notice that Brady seemed to do “OK” with a properly
inflated football. Coincidence? I think not!!!!!

    2. I completely agree with JPD. OUTSTANDING.

I read a comment by one of my favorite bloggers on wcvb. Basically, he repeated that Bill Parcels used to say..”. If a coach creates an external excuse for a loss, then the players will find a reason to lose.” It seems BB is one of the few coaches in the league who refuses to let his team do that. It makes such sense.

      1. Bill will go down as the best coach in the last 50 years George Halas is still the only one better and the gap closes every year. Canton bound eventually πŸ™‚

  10. I like the trend in the models the middle of next week to not race the surface high off of the coast.

While it’s another strong ridge with warming 850 mb temps, it looks like the surface high builds more over the northeast.

I would think this should offer seabreeze opportunities near the coast, keep the humidity at bay and allow good cooling at night that the weakening mid Sept sun should not be able to scorch back into the 90s.

I can take more low, even mid 80s, but am hoping to avoid another 93, 96, 93 stretch. Next late June through August for those temps again please. πŸ™‚

  11. Agreed Josh!! But it’s all hatred and jealousy, if we win they will continue to be jealous, that tickles me to death. “Embrace the hate” they thought red Auerbach was a big cheater to, in the end, he was just smarter and better than every body else. I enjoy all the jealousy. Let the teams spend time on preparing on ghost, let the patriots prepare on what matters, that’s just a better chance we win

“Gronk was wearing an invisible jersey, that’s why he was wide open all game”- Mike Tomlin

    1. If Tomlin really said: β€œGronk was wearing an invisible jersey, that’s why he was wide open all game”

Then he is a complete idiot. I’d have to be believe he was being
      facetious.

  12. Stratocumulus strip over eastern MA. Sunny on both sides. This cloud area will move out-dissipate during the evening.

My dilemma for Sunday: One shot of rain or a second one with a secondary wave riding up the front? I’m leaning toward the double hit right now, but reserve the right to retract that leaning.

Upper low means some cloudiness Monday though the shower threat is pretty low.

Summer weather from Tuesday on next week…

  13. 60 with 60 DP. Hmm shouldn’t it be raining? That’s a lot of DP πŸ™‚

    Wind calm.

.5 rain today. Seems pretty typical for area

    1. Ah ha Sherlock Vicki has figured that is why there are fog advisories everywhere. Good thing you guys keep me around here to point out the obvious 😈

  14. For Charlie and others that are interested in my thoughts about coaches:

Not sure about that, Bill Walsh was probably just as good. Also not trying to be biased, but Joe Gibbs was just as good if not better as he won 3 Super Bowls with 3 different QB’s. That’s an incredible feat as it speaks volumes to his system and his ability to scheme with anyone.
