  1. I’m second today. Thanks, TK.

By the way, my Jimi Hendrix reference yesterday (when I thought I was first to post) was to his track “Who Knows” from his last album with the Band of Gypsies. If you don’t have that album, somehow get your hands on it. It’s Jimi at his peak, and one wonders what would have been had it stayed away from drugs.

  2. The rain came down pretty hard at times during the night. It sounded nice. The wknd. is supposed to be nice which is good, but any rain we get is good especially the way the summer is shaping up to be. Ideally, wouldn’t it be nice if we got a lot of rainy nights (who sang “I love a rainy night”?) and warm sunny days during the spring! 🙂

    1. We think a lot alike, rainshine. I was singing that most of the night and I suspect in my sleep also. Hop Hop!!

    1. Looks prime for some backlash snow. Will it? Who knows.
Interesting to say the least. We shall see.

I don’t hold much stock in a model depiction that is 10 days out.

  3. Dark clouds to the north of here with sun overhead slowly being eclipsed by the clouds. Wind picked up a bit. 54 degrees.

  4. Thanks TK.

Temps without a doubt will overachieve tomorrow and Sunday, dry ground, lack of freezing temps etc….

  5. Report from the Fort.

Temp @ 79, going up to 85 today. Some hazy clouds.

Watched Price pitch at Jet Blue yesterday. Not a good outing. And of course theB’s are set on driving me crazy.

  6. Absolute beautiful day!!! 61.2 degrees. This Monday March 14th it’s go time for everyone. The lawn care season officially begins. 🙂

      1. Ok thank you! Very important day as I need that morning to be relatively dry. After 1pm it can rain all it wants.

  7. Just came in from lunch. Beautiful out there now that it has mostly cleared off.
Still a bite to the air. Pretty cool out. Car was reading 48. Logan at 1PM
was 43 with a decent SE sea breeze which I can certainly feel here at the office.

The Mets missed this sea breeze. Last night Eric clearly said Boston would hit
61 with a NW wind. Sorry Eric, NO WAY JOSE!!!
Sorry, even TK said NW winds today. NOPE.

    Another NE curve ball.

    1. Here it’s 60 degrees, beautiful!!! I think this is our 4th or 5th day over 60 degrees in March.

    2. A very small meso low formed on the final band of rain that came through this morning. Even the short range guidance did not have it.

      1. With the cloud formation around here, I am not surprised
at what happened. Thanks for letting us know. It is much
appreciated. Even with that, it still turned out very nice, just
cooler than expected, which is no big deal. After all, it is March
        and this stuff happens. 😀

  8. Sea breeze great in summer not so much during the spring season.
Interested what the new run of EURO say about that wintry POTENTIAL around the 21st.

    1. Interested, eh?

      FUGGETTABOUT!!!

POOF as it travels NORTH of us.

Still 9 1/2 days out, so it can and probably will change some more, BUT
the snow for us is gone. Gets Well North of here, mostly in Canada.

  9. The irony that the best set-up of the 2015-2016 “snow season” will come on and after the Spring Equinox. 😉

  10. Charlie…Just so you are aware, regarding Monday’s rain timing, the NWS is a lot earlier than I am. One of the TV guys last night was also saying rain could be in as early as Sunday night. Both are probably in response to the faster GFS timing. The ECMWF timing is slower. That is the way I am leaning for now, but please, if you are planning outside work and it’s very important, check the weather frequently for updates.

  11. 62 Providence, 44 Boston. Just that tiny little circulation offshore and it was all different near the coast. Interesting, I originally had 40s today for the entire region, then raised it to “near 60”. Little did I know they were both kinda right.

Sometimes I’ll forecast a huge spread in temps and someone will ask me “can’t you make up your mind?” and I say “yes I can…it’s mother nature that cannot..” 😉

    1. Yes, as I recall, you had 40s for today.
Everyone missed what happened near the coast today, everyone.

Now that I have been spoiled with 77 the other day, Let’s keep any snow
out of here till next Winter.

I am ready for fishing and the fish respond to warming waters. I expect
an early season. I have NEVER caught a fish in March, never.
I wonder if this is the year?

      1. On my morning runs I see them fishing in the Charles. Indeed it’s early, but it appears they’re catching some.

Just imagine, last year in late February and early March they were ice fishing on the Charles. I saw several people doing this.

        1. Yup. I have seen photos of folks pulling
CARP out the river through the ice.

I’m not much for Winter fishing. When I was young, I
did some ice fishing. It’s just not the same. Sure, you catch the fish, but it is so different. Plus you freeze your ass off in the process.

    2. Wow, that’s quite a difference between Providence and Boston. Does the temperature go up by 1 degree every 3 miles in linear fashion, or is there a sudden jump once you get to, say, Canton?

      1. The temperatures are seldom “linear”. 🙂
I’m sure there was a boundary in there somewhere…

  12. Vicki, thanks for posting the ski report from Killington. A Boston.com article today also reported how bad the ski season was. I believe the only resort that did fairly well was Jay Peak. Notably, the wild temperature swings did a number on the conditions of the slopes. There was so little consistent cold, in addition to there being very little natural snow. Well, there’s always next year.

Also, thanks for posting the TB photo. I actually liked Drew Bledsoe a lot as a quarterback. He was part of the New England 1990s turnaround that saw them become relevant again. But, he was not Tom Brady. Brady made the Patriots more than just relevant. He elevated the team to dynasty status.

    1. I liked Bledsoe as well. I felt very badly when he didn’t return to the Pats. However, I also knew it was the right decision.

As far as ski conditions, it is saying something that this is the worst season ever. They had a string of really bad seasons a decade or so ago. I feel badly for the areas who are trying so hard to recover and have multiple years of struggling. Last year was not good either if anyone wanted to move off the mountain and cross country, etc.

  13. Freezing rain and ice pellets on Washington. Same problem there that my brother saw on other mountains…thaw, refreeze, manmade over ice and sadly injuries.
