  1. Thanks TK !

    Happy Friday !

I am very encouraged by the looks of the weather during the next 9 days of April break.

  2. Thanks TK, and I echo the Happy Friday!

Red Flag Warnings are up for much of southern and central NH as well as central and eastern ME. I was quite surprised to see dew points flirting with 10F up here in Plymouth, NH yesterday, and humidity under 20%.

      1. It is lovely, isn’t it. He does so much for this area – his area. I couldn’t watch without tears.

  3. Good morning and thank you TK.

Another beautiful day, but cool again. The sunshine makes all the difference in the world.

Boston Buoy water temperature this morning sits at 43.7 Degrees. That ocean is COLD and the water temperature is very slow to rise. Along the coast, the best the temperatures can do is something like 5-10 degrees above the water temperature
depending on sunshine and speed/direction of the wind. Can be slightly higher with
a more Southerly component and slightly lower with a more Northerly component.

    1. Interesting. Thank you. Some of the poems are unique. The TX one is for Charlie. I liked the end of the Storm one where he points out the emotions felt in such a short period during a storm.

  4. Thank you for your forecast, TK.

Really is beautiful outside. I promise I’ll remember this stretch whenever I feel like complaining about spring in Boston again. It’s so clear and crisp outside. Wonderful for the runners, many of whom have descended on our fair city. On my morning jog, I came across a group of Kenyan runners. I believe they stay at one of the Back Bay hotels. I see them every year several days before the marathon.

Philip, thank you for reminding me that snow isn’t quite done in the lower 48, as the snowstorm in Denver demonstrates.

By the way, Greenland’s capital, Nuuk (used to be called Godthab), was appreciably warmer than Boston a couple of days ago. It may still be. Haven’t checked today’s temperature up there. Shattered the previous record of 55F when the mercury hit 61F the other day. They’ve had a southwesterly flow for a while. As we know – well, as I keep reminding you all – northwest of Nuuk is a totally different ballgame. Baffin Island remains firmly locked into cold and snow for the foreseeable future.

  5. Received this as breaking news.

“A magnitude-7.0 earthquake struck early Saturday morning on Japan’s Kyushu island, the same region a deadly magnitude-6.2 quake hit late Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said tsunami advisories have been issued for parts of Japan after the latest earthquake.”

  6. I just got a fire alert for my area for tomorrow.
I have 60 degrees with a 18 degree dew point. Man is the air dry

  7. After nearly a whole day, the ocean temperature has come up a whopping 0.2 Degrees
    F. Yup it’s 43.9 F. WOW!!! It won’t make 50 by the 4th of July at this rate.
What kind of Arctic type current is at play here. Yes, I know that the Labrador current
is prevalent off of our New England coasts, but this is ridiculous!

3PM Logan Temperature is up to 51 with an East wind of 15 mph. That’s 7.1 Degrees
above that ocean temperature. Sounds about right.

      1. Of course I know that. Just trying to make the point that
is is currently struggling to rise. 😀

        1. Currents have a lot to do with the cool-down. The sun helps but it needs a long time as you also know. Sometimes a persistent northeast or east flow helps as well as it holds the water in near the coast and allows it to warm more completely. This may be the case much of the rest of this month as the medium range guidance is loaded with plenty of high pressure in eastern Canada. This is not a warm surface pattern for eastern New England at all.

          1. Indeed,
But if it contains much sunshine, then that
surface water will eventually warm up.

I just do not know what a persistent NorthEast
Wind does to that damn Labrador Current.

            http://oceancurrents.rsmas.miami.edu/atlantic/labrador.html

Sometimes that current comes farther South than other times and can influence the sea surface temperatures off of the coast of New England.

I would imagine a persistent brisk NE flow could
drive that current more South than usual?

I do NOT know for sure, just speculating. 😀

  8. I found it – thanks for alerting me to it, Blackstone WX

    This is what it says

… Fire Weather Watch in effect from Saturday morning through
Saturday afternoon for central and eastern Massachusetts as well
    as Rhode Island…

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Fire Weather
Watch… which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday
    afternoon.

    * Affected area… central and eastern Massachusetts and all of
    Rhode Island.

    * Wind… frequent northeast wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph… but
between 30 and 40 mph across the cape and islands.

    * Humidity… minimum afternoon relative humidity values between 20
and 35 percent northwest of the Cape Cod canal. Relative
humidity values will be between 40 and 55 percent across the
cape and islands… but winds will also be stronger in that
    region.

    * Impacts… low relative humidity values… gusty winds in pre-
green up will result in an elevated fire spread potential.

    Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings. Any fires that start may spread rapidly and
    become difficult to extinguish.

  9. Fabulous ISS pass just a few moments ago. Bright, fairly high in the sky from the NW to the E. Another one about 9:32PM but only for a couple minutes and much lower in the SW sky.

  10. Talk about a mob scene at Aquataine Legacy place…. Chung,Bruschi,Andruzzi and Garrapolo. Everyone wouldn’t stop bothering them. I congratulated Chung on new extension. And shook everyone else’s hand. Good times!!

    1. Garropola is about 6-1, cause I’m 5-11 215 he was only slightly taller but was about 205
