  1. Thanks TK. You were mentioning in the comment section about next Thursday and the thunderstorm potential and I know its the 18z GFS and don’t put much stock in it but its got some aggressive severe parameters. I have also noticed the past couple runs of the American models Tuesday there are some bullish severe parameters. I have a feeling I may be missing some action next week while down in Williamsburg, VA.

    1. Nice pic Mark. Thanks for sharing.
Clint Frazier had his first big moment as Yankee with the walk off home run. Hopefully that gets the team back on track as they been struggling for almost a month.

      1. That was an awesome finish today. But playing .500 baseball isn’t going to get them very far. They need to get their bullpen fixed asap. Betances and chapman in particular have been horrible!

        1. Mark I totally agree. When you look at this slide they been on its been the bullpen has cost them many games which going into the season was their strength. Tyler Clippard has been horrible as you mentioned so has Betances and Chapman although both Betances and Chapman looked like their old selves today. If Betances allows a runner to reach to me he doesn’t have it and you could steal bases when he is on the mound.

  2. Thank you to.
Was diwroen Boston for that storm that exploded over the city.
Nice, but the traffic. Horrid. Never so bad.
Dropped my son off at Long wharf. Had to come home via Charlestown, Cambridge and then Brookline. Else I’d still be at a light on state st.
    Bruuuutal.
Sitting at bertucvis, e. Roxbury waiting on 2 pizzas.
    And also thettraining storm.

  3. Thanks TK. Line of activity moving through Wrentham now. Rumbles of thunder and rain, pretty ordinary storm. Little bit of wind, gusts maybe 25-30mph. All in all, a busy convective day, but not much in the way of severe weather. Will not be our last opportunity though. Eyeing Tuesday, as I’ve been for awhile, and now Thursday, which TK has talked about and the models have started to take interest in.

      1. We had it here, although I suspect it was all in-cloud or cloud-to-cloud lightning. A quick 0.19 for rain here, very close to what you had!

  4. Red Sox lost 1-0. Why is their offense so helter-skelter? 🙁

One game…hitting all over the place, the next…nada.

They need Big Papi to come out of retirement…like that would ever happen. 😀

    1. They do need a reliable home run hitter in the middle of the lineup. Hanley, Moreland, etc just aren’t cutting it. Juan Bautista is still a threat but doesn’t hit for average anymore but that probably wouldn’t matter here. Todd Frazier in Chicago would solve the third base problem (Please release the Panda) and has power. They need to do something.

      1. I don’t think most people have ever heard of him, but I’m a sabermetrics person and the advanced stats are pointing to one player in particular – Juan Uribe. Played for the Indians last season, was not that good, but projection systems think he can have a bounce back year. Has always been known for his very good defense, can hit .260 with 10 homers the rest of the way, and best of all he is a free agent so we don’t need to trade any prospects.

        1. Man..I didn’t realize he was still active. He’d come cheap that’s for sure but would probably take some time to get into game shape at this point. Bautista or Frazier would certainly cost them more (prospects and/or someone from the 25 man roster) but I do think both of them are more viable home run threats. Bautista has hit well in Fenway.

  5. Just looking on baseball references Juan Uribe has not played a major league game since July 30th of last year and he is 38 years old.

    1. Yep…there’s a reason no one is knocking down his door. On the other hand if it were April I’d say take a flyer on him.

  6. Drove through several major storms on my way to Vermont early this afternoon. Saw lots of lightning and experienced a `gray-out’ of sorts (I call it a gray-out when it rains so hard you can hardly see ahead of you). Tough driving. In fact, I find it tougher than snow, but maybe that’s just because I love snow.

Sox are currently playing the team that won’t quit: the Rays. Have to respect a team with limited payroll that does as well as the Rays do. Overall, I’m much less worried about the Red Sox than I was a month ago. Part of this has to do with the Sox only real competitor in the Al East; the Yankees. They’ve been mired in a bad slump. I do like what that team has done by rejuvenating the line-up. The Yankees have a bright future, and in fact could easily make the playoffs this year.

    1. Agree but in a lot of ways this year’s version of the Yankees remind me a lot of the Sox of days gone by (70s and 80s)…lots of hitting but lacking in overall pitching depth.

  7. Last night was fun. All day rain yesterday with some small breaks in the afternoon then it was very windy and heavy rain last night. Today when I went out to look at the beach, there were many major changes to where the sand was.

  8. Pretty interesting account of Tornado in Cambridge, 1680.

    Meteorologist Jacob Wycoff

    On this date in 1680…
The first confirmed fatality from a tornado occurred in Cambridge, Mass.
Reverend Increase Mather wrote of a thick, black cloud that produced a whirlwind that tore down trees and picked up large rocks. Cambridge residents could hear the tremendous “singing” of the storm from a mile away. Injuries suffered from the storm killed a servant, John Robbins.
His death is the first recorded death from a tornado.

  9. New post. More effort went into this one.
Yesterday’s sucked because I could only updated via phone long after a server issue was fixed while I was out chasing. 😉
