  1. No โ€œgo patriots!โ€ message in todays blog? I thought this was a good weather site. lol

Thanks, hope everyone has a good superbowl sunday. A win today would break the madden curse, mvp curse (nobody has won the SB since 99 with either โ€œcurseโ€) and the passing leader curse (nobody in the history of the SB has beaten tbat one.)

    This will be interesting.

    1. Oh and one more thing for those worried about curses: no team had ever come back from a ten point deficit or more in the history of the super bowl. Until last year.

      1. Frankly I am more concerned about Boston getting any more meaningful accumulating snow the rest of the winter than the Pats winning the SB later today.

        My prediction: 31-17

    2. Thanks for all that encouraging news regarding curses . A simple Go pats would have been sufficient.

  2. Thanks TK
Super Bowl prediction: I don’t have a dog in the fight. I think the game will be close. The Patriots have only covered the spread once in their Super Bowl wins and that was last year with the game going to overtime. They will not cover here so I am taking the Eagles with the points but will win the game. My prediction Eagles will be up 23-17 late in 4th QTR and Brady will once again lead a game winning drive to give the Patriots a 24-23 win.

  3. Barry is still concerned about the arctic cold in Canada that threatens us over the next 6 weeks. (Ms. G?) ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Funny you should bring that up, Dr. Stupid. If you look through my forecast you fill find several capital letters that should be small ones. Find them all and put them together in the order they appear to find what you thought was lacking. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. I saw that. But I was busy looking for the O before I posted. More than clever. You are the Top Cat!!!!!

      Thank you. This was fun.

      1. It may have been lost. I may have to restore the original in a few but I can’t edit from my phone until WP is reset in a little while.

        1. Almost… Left out an “O”

          You have go PATRITS

To use Vicki’s turn, I guess I am a bit Snarky this morning.

          1. When some people say the word, they probably leave out the “O” anyway especially if they talk too fast. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Is there a BIG game today? I thought I heard something about that.

I am not one for predicting scores. But, I will say this: I believe it will go 1 of 2 ways,
Either it is extremely close as in <= 3 points in either direction OR the Pats BLOW
them out. Frankly, not sure I could handle another nail bitter, so I am rooting
for the blow out. (Which means it won't happen)

  6. Oh, and thank you TK.

I am NOT liking this storm track to the West.
Most models give us a few inches up front on Wed. however, the Euro keeps
us to less than an inch. Either way, Ski areas look to receive a BONANZA!!

  7. No patriots superbowl been more than 4 points besides for last year which was 6 points. Its going to be within a touchdown either way. It depends on the O-Line.

  8. No, the O issue is fixed. So I turned my keyboard upside down because it needed one of those cleanings and it turns out a piece of cardboard in there blocked my caps key. All fixed! Go back and find it!

      1. No I’m glad because at first I didn’t realize that the “O” I typed never actually took. My left shift key was working intermittently and I caught all of them except the last one. Since then the issue has been fixed. Somewhere in my fiddling at the desk a small piece of cardboard, very thin, went in there, and when I turned the keys over to bang out the “fine particulates” this morning it shifted into a spot to occasionally disrupt the function of that key.

  9. I wonder if anyone’s done a verification of Kuchera vs non-K snow this season. I can tell you one thing, Ferrior snow on tropical tidbits absolutely sucks. It doesn’t work. It’s an epic failure.

    1. Not officially, but I for one think that this year the Kuchera numbers have been
pretty decent. I agree 100% about Ferrier numbers SUCKING!!! TOTALLY!!

    2. I’ve looked into the Ferrier thing a little bit- apparently it literally caps the ratio at 10:1. It will not go higher, and normally finds some way to be lower. What the heck good is that??

Kuchera tends to be better though. I often find a blend of that and the 10:1 works pretty well, but all depends on the storm of course. Should look at it more closely. FWIW, here in Plymouth, NH with this storm, the HRRR (15z) is showing ~7″ snow here on 10:1 and ~3″ with Kuchera. I’m looking for about 4-5″.

    1. As of now Wednesday has a shot at front end snow ( not much ) than changing to rain. After that itโ€™s a quiet week right through the weekend with seasonable temps.

      1. That Wednesday thing may be more than “not much” before it flips.

And it won’t be quiet through next weekend. Another system should be here by Saturday.

  10. Everyone in America except for 5 and a half states are probably going for the Eagles today.
I bet the Eagles (took the points), but I think the Pats pull out a 3-4 point win. But Iโ€™d gladly lose my paltry bet if they could somehow pull a blowout. My heart canโ€™t stand another close one. I just hope they score in the first quarter.

  11. I saw a poll forgot where 84 percent going for Eagles 16 percent for Patriots. I made my prediction earlier. I would take the Eagles with the points but still think Pats win by a point 24-23 with Brady leading the Pats down for a game winning TD late in the 4th.

    1. My gut tells me Patriots will surprise us compared to previous SBs. See my prediction above. Also many Vikings fans will be rooting for the Patriots. Usually conference loyalty rules but this is the exception.

  12. Thanks TK!

GO PATS!! I have no strong feeling of how the game goes. I think the Eagles all around are a better team, but can you really bet against Brady/Belichick? It has the makings of a close game.

    31-30, Pats.

  13. Interesting that initial burst of snow but radar said otherwise (rain). It is definitely all snow from just west of Worcester into NY/PA.

      1. 3 inches for Logan, 4-5+ West of there. That is why TK says Wednesday may very well be more than “not Much” before it
        flips to rain.

  14. I’ve been a little nervous about the Wednesday system for a while. Based on high position alone it has easily the best chance to at least start as snow over a wider area and enough to accumulate for at least a few hours if not longer than did the 2 that preceded it and possibly the one that follows it.

  15. This is a photo I took yesterday of the TV (2 present and 3 former) meteorologists taking questions and discussing their memories of the 1978 Blizzard. This was part of a 4-hour event put on by Blue Hill Observatory commemorating the 40th anniversary of the storm.

They don’t really need an introduction but just in case, L to R are Harvey Leonard, Bob Copeland, Mark Rosenthal, Barry Burbank, and Bruce Schwoegler.

    1. That is truly Awesome!! An Historical Photo that should be saved by one and all.
      THANK YOU for sharing!!!

  16. 12z Euro is oh so close for 2/8 and again for 2/11.

Does this exemplify the SE ridge Battling Canadian Arctic right in our neighborhood.
Boston gets a piece but misses the big boy action. Ski areas should be delighted.

    1. I am happy, as I am planning on going out finally next week, things been getting in my way the past 3 weeks, so have not gone out much as of late, Nothing is gonna keep me from it this up coming weekend lol

  17. On the pats. They re the two best teams. Either could win. My plan is to enjoy my team, undoubtedly sit on the edge of the couch more than once, but be happy for being lucky enough to have such a great group of talented individuals. They could never disappoint me.

  18. Thanks TK! Drove by Monponsett Pond in Halifax today and was surprised by the amount of folks out there ice fishing. There is a pool of water on top of the ice but they clearly have more trust in that ice than I would.

    GO PATS!!!

    1. It’s not what is on the surface, but what’s underneath.

6-8 inches of solid ice under a coating of water is perfectly safe.

  19. 2 more photos from the event I was at yesterday. I posted these on Facebook and I will include the same captions here that I used there…

    1) Mish Michaels was doing an impression that had Barry Burbank and me laughing…
That is Charlie Orloff from BHO behind Barry.

    2) Retired WBZ-TV meteorologist Bruce Schwoegler on the left, and if that guy on the right looks like Don Kent… well Don didn’t take a time machine from 1978. That is his son, Doug Kent. His personality is just as charming as his father’s was.

  20. Getting pretty psyched for the game!

Even more psyched for the Ridge!

    Go Pats & Go Ridge!!!

Funny story about Bruce Schwoegler – my friend briefly dated his son when we were in high school and she was having dinner at their house. It was her first time meeting Mattโ€™s parents and there was an awkward silence at one point so she did what most people do when trying to make small talk and blurted out โ€œAnyone know what the weatherโ€™s going to be like tomorrow?โ€ Then she realized who she was with, turned bright red, and wanted to crawl under the table. I think it took her most of College to get over her mortification :-). Still makes us smile!

My guess – Pats by 3 – another nail biter – possibly a come from behind. Because our team always gives us an incredible show! Brady is the same age as me and Iโ€™d like to point out we are both only 8 years away from our invitation to join AARP. No matter what – Brady is incredible and what he is doing redefines age. GO PATS!!!!

  21. Ah. Wasnโ€™t really dirty. Defender was just playing. But there should have been a 15 yard penalty.

    1. I understand that. However any helmet to helmet should certainly be a penalty. No questions. Because it is a rule, does not make it right.

      1. Yea, same drill. They gotta score some TDs instead of field goals, too. Same theme. Csnt get off the field on 3rd down, csnt co very 3rd down on offense. Only down by 9. Lots of football left. They just need to make some defensive stops.

    1. Oops. So sorry. Didn’t know everyone was not permitted to do the same. I’ll try a lot harder next time.

    1. I think you missed the point on all of that stuff. But no biggie. Enjoy the game. ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Good night all.
The next thing I post would get me kicked off. Someday, Iโ€™ll post what I really think and get kicked off. But at some pint, I wonโ€™t give a damn.

  23. Entertaining game. That was one heck of a trick play by the Eagles on a 4th and goal from the 1 yard line.

  24. I truly enjoyed the halftime show and love, love, love the end honoring first responders. Timberlake was awesome involving those in the stands.

          1. I also liked….in order. Of course I’m a big fan of Tyler ๐Ÿ™‚

            Kia Steven Tyler
            Budweiser
            T Mobile change starts now
            Toyota
            jeep

  25. Itโ€™s a little of both. Pats defense isnโ€™t playing the best either. Their front seven has been playing on borrowed money for several weeks. For sure something to rebuild in the offseason.
I still think the pats can pull this out if they can make a couple of stops.
At least they held the Eagles to 3 here.
    Still a one possession game.

  26. Defense let them down. They needed a few key stops and couldnโ€™t do it. No brainer where they concentrate the draft and free agency. That front 7 has been living on borrowed money all season.

  27. I’m glad the bad TD call did not make a difference. They won because they played the game. Well done Eagles. Proud of you, Pats.

  28. I figured if the Eagles got to 30 points theyโ€™d win. Sure enough.
I said it all season. Can’t make a 3rd down stop. Thereโ€™s not one defensive lineman they have whoโ€™s not expendable. Linebacker either.

  29. 1. Butler was not put in because of Bills ego. That cost us as eric rowe was put in and he Bleeping sucks.
    2. The refs were for the eagles
    3. the callers for NBC were for the EAgles.
    4. Two penalties missed blantly. the helmet to helmet and the late hits on Brady.
    5. Could the patriots of played better yes, but the patriots were faceing the refs as well.
    6. Never want to hear people say the refs are on the patriots side, example A is this superbowl.
7 I really do not care what people say, I am calling it the way I see it.
8 Two touchdowns called that should of gone the other way.

    1. Blackstone totally agree about Eric Rowe, been saying all season he is a major weak point that should stay off the field,

    2. We simply are not used to losing and it happens. The Eagles were hungry. Foles was exceptional. He never blinked. We knew it would be close. The Eagles have been underdogs for every post season game. Of all fans, we should know how hungry underdogs are.

All I all, it was one heck of a game.

  30. Canโ€™t wait to hear why Butler was benchedโ€”heโ€™s gone after this year so I bet we will find out…

    1. apparently, jhe and some of the management had a disagreement and because butler is going to free agency in the off season. Source WBZ. I say its Bills EGO.

  31. Great game. Pats give it their all.

Crap, Brady threw for 505 yards! We just needed a bit more “D”, whatever
    the bleep that is?????

Let’s face it, they were up against a better team.

On the Plus side, my wife won $500 on a football square that she purchased to support MS.

  32. Awesome game, tough end to a great year. Really, what a game though! Pats defense is awful, we’ve known that since week 1. It showed completely tonight. But Brady also showed why he’s the best ever. Sadly, in I think the best game of his career he made I think the worst play of his career with that fumble. You just have to get rid of that football. Officiating was fantastic. They let ’em play, and made the right calls on the two “controversies”. Only question I have is about Butler, obviously there’s a story there. We’ll see what it is.

I do believe this may be the last Super Bowl appearance for the Pats in this era. They’ve done so much, should be proud. We’ve also got two more playoff (championship?) caliber pro sports teams playing right now. Lucky city.

  33. Great Super Bowl. The way the game was going I thought that Brady hail mary pass was going to get caught at the end.

  34. Great game, For Brady to ring up 500 yards, 3 TD, zero picks and lose isnโ€™t going to be easy. Calls were fine imo. They let them play the game as they should. Pats should be proud as hell.

Tough as a Skins fan to watch the eagles win knowing we suck so much ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. there are more news out this evening, Gronk is not committed to staying with patriots and could hang them up
    Butler is likely gone. ๐Ÿ™
    Amondola could leave
Lewis and Burkhead could leave as well.
    Nate Soldier as well.
O-Line cordinator might leave ( he is 70)
Next year I am not expecting much from the patriots.

Lots are coming out right now so knowing whats correct and what is not is going to be hard but its some of the stuff that is coming out.

    1. Coming out from who? Official announcements from the team, or some sports guy making predictions? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. commercials stunk, all about violent movies coming out of Hollywood and they wonder why they are going under.
