Bet On Better Yet

1:43AM

As bad as the weather can be in April, it can also be quite good, and we’ll see more of the good side of April during the coming several days. But it will not be without a few bumps in the road, especially early in the journey.

A cold front passing by first thing this morning will bring a rain squall line along with it, which will present itself as a gusty moderate to heavy shower, brief in length. This will clear the coast including Cape Cod by 8AM, so if you are reading this after that time, you’re reading history, not current events. 🙂

For the remainder of today we’ll see an improving trend as clouds depart and sun takes over. It will not be as warm as Wednesday was, but it will still be quite nice – 60s most areas.

A weak upper level low pressure area moving across the region will bring cooler air tonight through early Saturday, but with mostly fair weather. There will be just enough instability to allow for the risk of a few pop up showers with the solar heating on Friday, and some diurnal fair weather clouds on Saturday. But the balance of the weekend will feature fair weather, with Sunday being the warmer day in most areas.

High pressure is expected to control the region’s weather early next week with dry conditions and above normal temperatures, though coastal locations will see cooler air at times due to sea breezes.

Updated forecast for southeastern New England (southern NH, eastern MA, and RI)…

    1. Hey Vicki! Great night to start a golf league 🙂 Ours started this past tuesday, and well, it was cancelled, lol. I think tuesdays are cursed. Im glad it was cancelled though, it was downright nasty outside. I had thermals and gloves ready but found it ridiculous I was wearing the same clothes to play golf as I do to ski! Next tues, if the current forecast holds, should be perfect for golf. Good luck to your husband!

      1. Oh no – as I remember last year your night had a string of bad weather too. Here’s hoping the good weather holds and is the norm for golf leagues!!

  1. 60’s 😀 !!! I’m loving the numbers!

Educate me: what does diurnal fair weather clouds mean?

My cats are LOVING the open window in my house. They are sniff-sniff-sniffing! Very happy kitties. 😀

    Have a nice day everyone!

    1. The coast is often going to be cooler, sometimes much cooler, during the coming week or so.

Diurnal fair weather clouds are nothing more than puffy cumulus clouds that develop with the heating of the sun. Normally these clouds do nothing but decorate the sky a bit. Once in a while if the air is unstable enough they can either spread into a cloudier sky or build into scattered showers, even thunderstorms. That’s when fair weather clouds become “unfair”. 😉

      Say hi to the kitties!

  2. extremly nice day. All the windows are open. nice breeze coming from the marsh. sunshine. Sliding door screen is up and open and my cat is loving the porch and watching the birds at the bird feeder doing his chirping/ chatter of the teeth towards them. Been hanging with a friend since noon time when my class got out and played some football. Nfl draft tonight. yeah this is becoming a good day for a thursday lol. Only thing is that my mom is sick 🙁

  3. “The sun” going down now. “Beautiful.”

“The moon” about to rise. “Even more beautiful.”

    What song am I referencing??

Actually the Full Pink Moon will be rising in the eastern sky as the International Space Station makes a NW to SE pass high in the SW sky from 8:04PM to 8:10PM, highest point at 8:07PM.

  4. Any snow possibilities showing up the next couple weeks? I don’t see any but I wanted to ask? 😉

  5. Pollen forecast is high. The pollen forecast usually estimates how much pollen an allergy sufferer is likely to be exposed to for up to four days in the future. I think it’s currently between 9-10 and today could make it to 11 on a 12 pt scale. 9.7 to 12 is considered high. Right now pollen comes from junniper, maple and elm. I am not an allergy sufferer but I thought I would put this up because it is pollen season.

    1. Thank you. Its great to know what the allergens are and also what the parameters are. I never had allergies but seem to have some now so its interesting to know what it might be. I think mold is lower and I know that bothers me.

    2. Thanks, Longshot. I suffer from allergy yr. round – especially during the spring into early summer. Today I am having a bad allergy attack (haven’t had one in a few months) and now I know why thanks to your posting.

  6. I cannot stand listening to Weei, sports hub is much much better, ESP when you have 2 baseball dorks (mut an merloni) talking football, I’m officially a sports hub guy 🙂

    1. I agree Charlie. The sports hub is the best. But I do switch over to weei once and a while during commercials. I like Merloni a lot, even though hes a mostly baseball guy. Holly in the afternoon show is good too. I wish they would combine those 2 guys into a show. Other than that, its crap. I cant stand either stations morning shows though. Its the only time i listen to music on the radio is driving into work in the morning.

      1. Right on A.M. – I think Fred Toucher is such a gas-bag and wildly untalented for a city like ours.

Looking forward to yard work this weekend.

Got the sprinkler guy coming over Charlie to tinker with the zone programming. I keep running my well dry the past few years after only three zones. (have twelve zones total) Hope to get it right finally.

  7. Getting mulch delivered today. Figured I would take advantage of the nice weekend to put it down. Still a bit cool for a swim though Charlie!

  8. Can see a few decorative puffy cumulus in our southwestern sky. They look nice and summerish, though I know thats a chilly ocean breeze out there. They have no chance of making it to the coastline.

    1. Too early to mulch. It will be infested with weeds later in the summer. Putting mine down in later May.

      1. sounds good to me – I didn’t want to do it anyway. What do you do to keep it from getting infested that doesn’t kill the plants it surrounds?

  9. I was going to write something on it and also notice that Joe Lundberg on Accuweather blogged about it today …. and then just saw the 12z EURO, which certainly still has the feature ….

Some sort of disturbed weather off of the SE US coast many days from now, maybe 7-10 days out. The EURO has had this signal a for a few days now and today’s 12z EURO deepens something to 1,000 mb before it crosses into the US. Mid-latitude cyclone, tropical, a bit of both ?????
