The Week Ahead

7:41AM

The week starts chilly with a very cool airmass out of Canada to greet us. In fact, some areas may see frost and freeze tonight. It doesn’t last though. A warm front approaches Wednesday and brings clouds. The second half of the week will be warmer but somewhat more unsettled as a front wavers in the area.

Updated forecast for southeastern New England…

TODAY: Sun mixed with clouds. Highs around 60. Wind W 10-20 MPH and gusty.

TONIGHT: Clouds dissipate. Low from the upper 20s inland valleys to upper 30s immediate coast and urban areas. Frost and some freeze likely. Wind light W.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 60-65. Wind N 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Increasing clouds. Few showers at night. Low 48. High 64.

THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers. Lows in the 50s. Highs in the 70s (cooler some coastal areas).

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 55. High 75.

    1. rainshine – I’m sorry I didn’t get back here to thank you for posting it. I was too busy I think showing it to family members. It is scary for lots of reasons. And doesn’t the glacier look as if it’s alive…..creepy.

      1. Vicki – the important thing is – what does it mean. Greenhouse effect? Or what? This is not normal – bad winter in north central part of U.S. And I wonder if it’s too late to do anything about it. You know, (just on my soapbox here) if we all tried to find the cause – try a bunch of possible remedies – it might help. But do we sit back and say oooo, look at that? I’m just as guilty. I just don’t know what to do. Maybe praying? I’m trying that! 🙂

        1. rainshine….without getting into politics 🙂 – I pretty much toss my hands up when it comes to this country uniting to do anything. I know it is in good part cyclical. I just do not believe for one minute that all of the harm we have done to our environment has not had influence.

It’s all opinion. I continue to believe what my late father-in-law (who absolutely did not believe in global warming) said. That was…..it cannot hurt to try and limit the damage we do to the environment but it can hurt if we do not do anything.

In the meantime, we will discuss it until it really is too late. Praying is about the only positive approach we have at the moment 🙂

    1. Fun Scott. I don’t use FB or twitter so will guess here

      All Airports

      Boston – 38.9
      Bradley – 27.6
      Providence – 33
      Worcester – 28.8

  1. Hey TK keep those showers on Wednesday as late as possible! We have our track league championship meet that day and I’ll take the best weather I can get!

    1. Will try! The problem with that kind of WNW flow stuff is it almost always comes faster than the models say.

  2. I wonder how Longshot is doing with this Bruins game and particularly the happenings of the last half hour. Hope he didnt turn the game off at 4-1.

  3. Pete’s evening blog mentions a possibly cooler summer compared to the last two.

TK, your forecast from what I could tell will have a good number of hot times ahead. Have your thoughts changed any?

Fwiw, the CPC outlook has well above normal temps for the next two weeks.

    1. Bergeron gave them the game winning goals, but I give it to Lucic — after a tough season, he woke up.

  4. No frost here. Mac said it was 41 when he left at 5:30. It’s up to 48.1 now with a very gentle breeze. Saw some clouds last night and wondered if they’d keep us warmer. GREAT dew points 🙂

  5. Barry has HHH (85-90 temps) for next Tuesday-Wednesday…UGH!

I guess it has to arrive sooner or later, but I had hoped later…MUCH later. 🙁

    1. UGH indeed but were going to get 3 H weather. The question is how much of it are we going to have.

  6. Here in CT we have a new 24 hour snowfall record of 36 inches that happened with blizzard of 2013 in Ansonia. The old record was 30 inches in 1969 in Falls Village which is in the northwest part of the state. What a storm that was with the snow depth here in CT more than in the blizzard of 1978.

    1. Very impressive. I often wish we could have frozen those couple of days. They go too fast and are a great memory……well not for anyone along the coast sadly.

    2. I remember that band of snow with yellows and reds sitting over the same part of the state for hours.

      1. Tom there were some parts of CT that had 5 6 inches of snow an hour during the height of it and radar even indicated some small hail during the storm . The initial thinking it was sleet mixing in but it was cold throughout the column upon further examination.

  7. Well now that I am breathing again after the B’s win, I can get back to the weather.

  8. Currently 95F in Minneapolis …. 95F to 100F today in southern Minnesota, western Iowa and eastern Nebraska.

    1. And wouldn’t you know it…below normal temps return to Minnesota next week while we in NE “bake” for the rest of the month per the CPC.

I am also surprised that we haven’t heard of major flooding of the Red River given the sharp temperature fluctuations. If in fact the snowmelt was gradual or whatever, then good for them in Minnesota with no damage or loss of life. 🙂

  9. The Pru was the 14th tallest in country in the 60’s and leading the way, now today it’s the 217th tallest in country and 487th tallest in world, Hancock tower close to the same being only 40 ft taller, tallest building in Boston 784ft, tallest in the world 2,772ft tall, almost 4 hancocks tall, just amazing!!
