The Week Ahead

10:51PM

High pressure will dominate just about all week, keeping unsettled weather away. A cold front may make it in by Sunday with a threat of showers, but even that may be limited. Temperatures will run above to much above normal, with a lingering taste of Summer for at least a few of the days. In the shorter term, some dense fog may be around first thing Monday morning as conditions in the early morning hours will be perfect for its formation (clear, calm, air becoming saturated as the low temperature meets the dew point).

Forecast for southeastern New England…

OVERNIGHT: Areas of dense fog. Lows middle 40s to lower 50s, coolest inland valleys. Wind calm.

MONDAY: Areas of dense fog and low clouds into mid morning. Mostly sunny midday on. Highs 65-70. Wind E under 10 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Patchy low clouds and fog especially valleys otherwise mostly clear. Lows upper 40s to middle 50s. Wind light variable.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 75-80, closer to 70 immediate coast. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 56. High 84, cooler coast.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 58. High 88, cooler coast.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. Low 58. High 81, cooler coast.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 55. High 79, cooler South Coast.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Scattered showers. Low 60. High 77, cooler South Coast.

    1. I can multi-task.

I was watching the game, writing the blog, and listening to a friend doing a radio interview. 😉

  1. Thanks TK for all your multitasking and for everything 🙂

I’m loving the warm fall weather, though I have to admit I am really excited to have hot cider 🙂

  2. Seeing quite a discrepancy among mets for high temps on Thursday. Have seen a 10 degree range, 78-88, for the high.

  3. Breath taking game last night.

Fantastic game by both Edelman and Thompkins and most especially Talib.

Sad, sad news. Wilfork has a torn Achilles tendon and is done for the year AND
with his size and weight and that injury, he may very well be done for good.

    1. I’m truly sick about the news on Wilfork. I was so angry that the fans booed him. I absolutely detest booing – no matter which side – but that was revolting. The man is IMHO an individual all players should strive to be more like.

It was an exceptional game. I never stay up that late but couldn’t stop watching.

  4. Great win by the Patriots, but a huge loss of Vilfork Great player but an even better person. Serious injury for a guy that big.

    1. Vince, in my opinion, was not having a great year so far, but he is the bedrock leader of the D. Very bad because his mere prescence is always a threat to the opposition and he is a very good captain. Ugh!

On another note, Thursday is the B’s opener and Friday is Sox 1st post-season game.

      1. Not good about Vince!

Can’t wait the playoffs to begin starting tonight with the bonus game. Hoping the Rays lose!

    1. Agreed. I want a 17 inning game tonight, won by the Rangers and then a 15 inning game won by the Indians Wednesday night. Terry Francona vs. the Red Sox. Great story lines !!

  5. Re: Canadian

The feature I posted from Yesterday’s 12Z run was still there on the 0Z run
and is still there on today’s 12Z run, although it is more off shore.

    http://meteocentre.com/models/explorateur.php?lang=en&map=hnord&run=00&mod=gemglb&stn=PNMPR&hh=240&comp=1&run2=00&mod2=gemglb&stn2=PNMPR&hh2=240&fixhh=1

Euro, of course does not have it.

Although strength and final positioning was off, there were 2 recent instances
where the Canadian had something 10 days out while the others did not, only
to have the others come on board later.

I don’t know what this means, if anything at all. Just interesting to point out.
Let’s see how long it keeps this feature around and IF the other models come on board.

    😀

  6. The difference in forecasts for high temps Thursday (from yesterday) – 78 to 88 .. is nothing more than interpretation of available data 4 days out. It happens often. Besides, the region will probably record temperatures in that range on that day anyway. 🙂

  7. Harvey is already predicting record warmth later this week…UGH! 🙁

I want my fall season cool and crisp, if nothing else for the foliage…just when it was starting to really get going. I would say steady patchy color here in Boston which is IMO about a week ahead of schedule.

I can’t believe that I am going to have to open up all my windows again…UGH! 🙁

    1. I think it’s been one of the best falls in quite sometime, record warth is 85 degrees which is beautiful 🙂

    2. Actually Harvey said he didn’t think Boston would reach its record high on Wednesday which is 88. He is predicting an 84.

  8. With all the talk of a Sea Breeze for Wednesday, Eric Fisher last night said that
there would be a substantial WEST wind with NO talk of a sea breeze. IF this is true, then a record high temperature for tomorrow IS on the table. 😀
