  1. Tk I think the rain begins closer to 8 or 9 pm tonight just IMO, not a bad week ahead though, sun angle is the same as the end of Aug, summer is not that far away!!

  2. I am hoping the wet weather holds off to the night time hours on Saturday. I have my daughters 1st Birthday and my house just can’t fit everyone! 🙂

  3. Coastal-Right now I think you should be ok on Saturday. I think Sunday turns out to be the wet day of the weekend. Only GFS Op timing supports rain during the daytime hours of Saturday. GEFS, ECWMF, GGEM, all support much later onset some hold off any heavier precip until after midnight and into the early morning hours in Eastern MA. GFS almost always too quick this far out. Temps in the 50’s and cloudy, but if that strong sun can work its way through the clouds especially inland, temps could be a little warmer and the daytime hours of Saturday a little more enjoyable.

    1. That’s positive! The party starts at 2pm so I expect everyone to have left by 7pm. Thank you!

    1. Thanks for the link. I saw the video of that wedge shaped tornado and was across the television screen and saw the supercell t on radar that produced that tornado. I always looks at those pictures and say thank god we don’t get destructive tornadoes like that often here in the Northeast although we can get them such as the Worcester tornado, the Windsor Locks, CT torndo of 1979 and the outbreak across the Northeast that I was alive for back in July 1989 when an F4 the biggest of that tornado outbreeak hit Hamden, CT.

  4. The trolls are out on the BZ blog. I just posted a comment there talking about a cloudy day turning into a rainorma tonight. I hope that forecast holds for the weekend and most of the rain will fall during the overnight hours.

  5. I think Sunday, particularly the 1st half, could be wet. I feel stronger that Saturday will turn out OK.

  6. Saw the same on the BZ blog… I was hovering over the reply button but I held back… it’s like a bunch of sharks swimming just below the surface waiting for any chance to dig their teeth in… bottom feeding scavengers….

  7. These trolls have nothing better to do with their lives other than attacking people. I thinks its less than a handful of people using different names. The best to do is ignore them.

  8. Regarding our 3 sports teams, I am predicting a long “cold” summer ahead. I just do not share TK’s confidence. As for Dice-K, the fact that the Yankees didn’t really make much of a bid for him should have been an indication.

As for Saturday, I hope for mostly dry conditions as well, but I also hope Sunday dries out as the day goes on.

  9. Philip the Celtics series against the Knicks is going to be tough but to me is the most intriguing match up in the east for the 1st round. I am going with the Celtics in 6 but not much confidence with that pick.
As for the Bruins I think they will get past Montreal in 6 games.
The Dice K situation reminds me of when the Yankees got Hideki Irabu where he was great in his first start but after that he stunk and they ended up moving him to the bullpen before finally letting him go and they have the richest minor leaguer in history with Kei Igawa at 5 years 45 million the pitcher who they got when the Dice K signed with the Red Sox.

      1. I am waiting for football season to Charlie. Lets get this lockout over with and as I
said a few weeks ago I don’t think any games will be lost for the season.
As for the Red Sox I got to think with the talent and its early that they will make a run
and get back into contention although stunned with this start as every fan is.

      2. Chariie-forget about the pats for right now, Its time for some real hockey to start. Hockey is the queen of all playoffs, football of course is king.

  10. On Friday, i’ll be headed to Lyndon State College’s open house, should be a good time.
    hopefully the weather corporates!

Dice K…I don’t know why the Sox still have him, at least make him a relief pitcher…

  11. I could hit dice k fastball and I dont even play!! Just cut bait with him and gave Wakefield start in the 5th spot.

  12. The humidity is 39%, going to be awhile before any rain makes it here.
The 12z NAM painted over 2 inches of rain over eastern mass. Tomorrow is going to be raw and rainy.
Widespread 1-2 inches of rain seems likely.
Then more unsettled weather over the weekend.

  13. Hi all! Heading to an appointment. Be back later.

Charlie… I’ll stick with the well after midnight timing. The convergence that kicked off the rain in CT/RI and far SE MA today has been sinking a bit to the S before it starts heading back this way only to be overtaken by the new low. But it will take until almost dawn for the solid rain to reach Metro Boston,..

  14. Having fun trying to figure out the weather for next week in coastal Maryland. Down there, I think by the middle of next week, we could have a chance of experiencing some real spring weather (at least 70F)…….. Interested to see if we experience a steady rain or thunderstorms in the Sat. time frame. Thank goodness we arrive down there Friday and dont have to set up in the rain Saturday.

  15. No big deal to me since I have no intention of posting on the WBZ blog, but I do find it curious that Melissa didn’t post a fresh blog this morning even though Todd pretty much spelled everything out yesterday evening. I can’t recall ever a missing morning blog on any given day including weekends.

  16. Hi everyone- how is everybody doing. I have not been posting as much due to work and well boring weather. I guess we have some rain coming. SST I hope you have a nice trip. Coastal keep the faith, the party will go fine. Hadi don’t give in to the trolls, and Tk, well it should be for some good hockey.

  17. It still looks like a 1-2 inch rainfall amounts with more in the eastern parts of SNE.
I gave my 1st round predictions for the Celtics and Bruins earlier and I am saying both teams will advance to the next round winning in 6 games. What are your thoughts???

  18. Football is the best, but playoff hockey is fantastic! On top of it it’s the bruins vs. habs. Doesn’t get any better then that!

  19. How I rank them r Patriots,Celtics,Redsox,Bruins,Revs, by the way is it raining where u r?? I’ve got a steady rain here for about an hr now

      1. I guess it’s taking more time to erode that dry air, I’ve got .07 here in Wrentham since 815-830, and rain continues to be steady, have a great night tk 🙂

          1. So weird how short distance makes such a difference, here my electronic rain gauges just went to .11, and like I said it’s raining pretty good right now, also thanks again for this blog uve set up along a few others, again have a great night 🙂

  20. Its football for me and I always make sure when make sure the yardwork is done before the 1pm games kickoff. Then its basketball, hockey, and baseball. I don’t really get excited about baseball until the All Star Break since it is such a long season.

  21. Red Sox lost (yet again) 3-2…still feel good about the “Olde Towne” Team?

This summer is looking “colder and colder” every game…brrrr! 🙁

In a sense, the Sox looked much better last year in spite of all the injuries.

    1. It’s early but I’m concerned, very concerned, a few more loss’s and the Redsox could be sellers by the all-star break, awful just terrible

  22. On and off thunder and lightning the past hour with moderate to heavy rain. It is fairly dark for past 9am in the morning.

  23. No worries Charlie I was sure I’d never see them win a World Series and I followed them since 1960. So there is hope to see it happen again.

  24. I am interested to see the rainfall totals on the south shore for today. It has been pouring for the last 3 to 4 hrs……….On the Sox, I will judge them after 40 games. I hope they can be to .500 by then, although they really are digging themselves a big hole just to get to that.

    1. Flood Warning in effect until 1:45 pm for parts of SE MA & Cape.

Martha’s Vineyard has already had 4″+ rain so far.

        1. the town stream, which I love to look at on days like today is bankfull and raging. Pretty impressive considering it was rather low this AM…..I’m guessing it has risen a few feet or maybe more. What is cool, well except for the people who live near it, is at a certain point each day, when the tide is high, some parts of this stream start to almost back up during the hour or two each side of high tide.

    1. it was !!! I dont think I’m overstating things to say that we had three separate thunderstorms over a 2-3 hr period this morning. It wasnt frequent lightning, but a few flashes every few minutes, then it would stop for a bit, then it would start up again, etc. with a consistent steady to heavy rain. Its funny, all with chilly temps and a steady NE wind.

  25. Can anyone explain the idea of thundershowers that have to do with some term called elevated convection (I think thats what it is called). There’s thunder and lightning, but its not necessarily warm, like today. I see it a lot in NWS discussions and I admit I dont understand the meteorology of it. Thanks.

  26. Will see if this helps the Red Sox tonight with the game cancelled to regroup before welcoming in Toronto for the weekend.

    1. After Toronto, the Red Sox head to the West Coast for 6 games between Oakland and the LA Angels. Even when the Sox are on top of their game, they rarely do well out there.

  27. Hi all- It was pouring rain in Pembroke this morning when I left the house for work at 5am and vivid lightning to. Came home to downed trees in the neighborhood.

  28. Those two teams won’t be a walk in the park for the Red Sox and then they play Baltmore after that. If they are going to get back in they got to start winning series and I think and I know its early but they have to do no worse than a split against Toronto.
