Sunday Forecast

8:10AM

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 25-29)…
Cold front moves through the region this morning and early afternoon with a band of rain showers. Improving weather from west to east during the afternoon as the front pushes offshore. High pressure builds in tonight through Monday and Tuesday with fair and chilly weather. Low pressure approaches from the southwest Wednesday, pushing a warm front toward the region and causing a widespread rain to occur. Some of the moisture in this system will be from former Pacific Hurricane Patricia. As the low center takes a likely path northwest of the region we’ll enter the warm sector of this system briefly before its cold front sweeps through from west to east Thursday. At four days out, the timing of the front is not certain but at this stage I’m leaning toward a rapid movement of the system and an earlier passage with rain showers to start the day followed by improving but windy weather, initially mild then cooling. This will be fine-tuned.
TODAY: Mainly cloudy with showers progressing west to east across the region through early afternoon, ending lastly on Cape Cod. Breaking clouds later in the day. Highs around 60. Wind S 5-15 MPH shifting to W and increasing to 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Clearing. Lows in the 30s except some lower 40s South Coast. Wind NW 5-15 MPH and gusty.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs around 50. Wind NW 10-20 MPH and gusty, shifting to N and diminishing.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 25-30 interior, 30-35 coast. Highs in the 50s.
WEDNESDAY: Cloudy. Rain likely. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the 50s.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with showers early then partly cloudy. Lows around 50. Highs around 60.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 30-NOVEMBER 3)…
Fair and cooler October 30 then milder October 31. Unsettled weather possible November 1 into November 2 followed by fair and colder by the end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 4-8)…
Unsettled weather early in the period then drier again. Temperatures near to below normal.

  1. I may have made a bad sky forecast for this afternoon. I’m not sure how much sun we end up with…if really any at all. Going to tweak wording above…

      1. We’ll see though. It was hard for me to figure out the cloud trend via the visible satellite image because the lower stuff was obscured by the higher ones. Given the extent of cloudcover of the stratocumulus variety upstream I wonder if that takes place here too. Sometimes downsloping will dry them out, and sometimes it’s not quite enough. We’ll see how it evolves as the afternoon goes.

  2. Great game.
    3
    1 lafell dropped 6 passes
    Edelman dropped a couple
    Gronk dropped 1
    2. Our secondary sucked. We got 3rd downed to death.

        1. BB always says there is work to do, whether they lose, win by one, or win by 40. Are you BB? 😉

        2. LaFell just came off the PUP list. He was one of Brady’s Go-To guys last year. He’ll be ok….I hope 😉

          1. That’s the only thing that will prevent him
from receiving a bus ticket this week. Another performance like that on Thursday night and See Ya later, it was nice knowing you.

I can smell the bus fumes.

            1. If that’s the case then Aaron Dobson and Danny Amendola would have been out of here long ago. Not sure if heard what Brady said about trusting in his receivers after the game but those words weigh alot with BB.

              1. You could be correct. I’m just relating drops to fumbles and we know where Ridely is now. That is all. We shall see what happens.

                1. Agreed but Lewis dropped / fumbled a few in earlier games and they didn’t ship him out. I think it’s all how they deal with it after they have bad games.

                2. I have to agree with Keith. I too thought the video was funny. But he is good although just back and has to get his hands working.

  4. With weather quiet and another win under our belt, if I may take a nonweather minute or five as I do have a tendency to be wordy

The other night when I decided to take a break, I had no idea what the next day would bring. Mac had a CT scheduled which Id asked for earlier than planned because he was having so many side effects from the new treatment. He was started on Sept 11 on the just fda approved Opdivo which is immunotherapy and teaches your immune system to find and kill Cancer. There is an expected flare up of Cancer at the start. But to our surprise and the oncologists, his existing tumors had not only flared but he had it in new locations. His legs were not working. He used his walker to go in for CT but quickly needed a wheel chair. They admitted him for an MRI to see if there was cord compression but he was in too much pain for MRI and they feel it is not compression but tumors pushing on nerves.

He is home as of last night. We are waiting for a bronchoscopy to see what is causing his never ending cough (although cough doesn’t describe what he has) and also for his new treatment plan. He has an amazing medical team, family support that sees no bounds and a loving God on his team. I know they will get that beast back under control. He, and I, also have amazing support from those I have met and learned to cherish on here which played a huge part in understand taking a break was a horrendous idea on my part.

I know without asking that you have been saying prayers for him. I wanted to update and to thank you….from mac and from me 🙂

    1. Oh boy : I’m very sorry to hear that news Vicki, please let us know if there is anything that we can do . Hang in there.

    2. So sorry to hear Vicki. Let us hope they get it under control and Mac can feel better. When you said you were taking a break, I feared it might be a bump
in the treatment road. So sorry it was. Best wishes for you.

  5. Oh, so sorry, Vicki…There are three words in your message that say it all: “A Loving God”…God will see you and Mac through this…

Please take a day or an hour at a time…

Know of my prayers, love and support…

Hang in there, Mac and Vicki
    CF

  6. Vicki…Positive thoughts and prayers going out to your whole family right now…..I’ll try to connect up on FB later.

    1. With no disrespect JP I think you are being to hard on him as he just got back from injury. I will say the one he had and dropped was pathetic in the end zone.

      1. John,
Perhaps I am. Just my reaction to a positively piss poor performance. I was Screaming at the TV. Putin could here me in Moscow! I can’t put up with that crap. # 12 works hard to find an open receiver and deliver the ball. At least the bleepin receive can do is CATCH the damn ball. He’s PAID to catch the ball!!!

Sorry end of rant. I do understand he is coming off of injury.

        We shall see.

  7. Now that I have your attention…

A few updated thoughts on the weather:
Another feel-of-November episode Monday as much of the day will be in the 40s. In contrast, by Thursday, some areas may reach or exceed 70. So we’ll have a bit of a roller coaster in the temperature department. I’m favoring a faster timing with the midweek system, as in an all out rainy day Wednesday but only a few showers to start Thursday the a windy but mild day with clouds/sun. The chill returns late week and right now Halloween looks dry and chilly.

  8. Vicki, it’s hard to imagine what you and Mac are going through. It’s gut-wrenching, but also a testament to your strength and Mac’s.

I’m familiar with Opdivo . It’s a new medication, with solid evidence supporting its efficacy. However, as with any cancer drug side effects are common and can be difficult to manage.

My ecumenical prayers – a blend of Protestant (my mother) and Jewish (my father) – are being recited by me as I write this post.

    Best wishes.

    1. Thank you Joshua. Opdivo is the future I think. It was approved two years before schedule because of its success. It had not been approved for Mac until a couple of weeks ago. One group was approved last April. But His lung cancer is more common with nonsmokers which he is, so approval was delayed. Because of its success, Dana made the decision to cover the cost for the Macs in their care until it was approved for them. Amazing hospitals we are blessed with in this area. Success rate is 14-40%. Mac didnt fall in that group. Doesn’t mean we cannot go back to it 🙂

  9. Thank you. Your support and prayers are invaluable. I know there is a greater plan and we just have to trust in what it is. It is family and friends, and we count you all among them, who help us keep on track 🙂

  10. Roller coaster seems to be the weather theme, with Thursdays tending to be on the warm side. Overall, however, it’s been a slightly cooler October than I expected it to be, and it looks like November will start out on the cool to cold side. We appear to be tapping into a health supply of colder air from Canada. Should this pattern prevail during the winter, I think we’ll see episodic cold bursts, certain some snow chances, and temperature volatility.

On Pats, they did just enough to win. But, I thought they were outplayed by the Jets through most of the game. This was an old-fashioned Patriots’ win. No bells and whistles, just results, a bend but don’t break defense, and Brady saving his best for last.

Went to see Harvard against Princeton on Saturday. I still love that stadium. It gives off a Greco-Roman feel. Harvard is truly dominant this year. I mean smothering, overwhelming, dismantling dominance. Tim Murphy may be the best college coach I’ve ever seen. He rotates new players every few years (he doesn’t have the luxury of having many players who stay on for 5 or 6 years), has them mentally and physically prepared, and just keeps winning. Andrew Fischer is a great undersized athlete, who reminds me of Edelman in some ways. Probably won’t get drafted by an NFL team, but he might get an invitation. He has outstanding skills as a wide-out and punt returner.

  11. Seriously nice night. I still have the windows open. The air smells wonderful…that moist, leafy fall smell

    1. I love that leafy smell. Big trigger of Autumn happiness for me. However, it makes 2 of my brothers have nasty allergies. Go figure. 😉

      1. Isn’t there something about leaves on the ground that makes you either want to shuffle through them to hear the sound or pile them up and jump in them? Childhood at its best.
