Tuesday Forecast

3:59AM

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 31-NOVEMBER 4)
Since yesterday’s update was at the end of the day and today’s is early, there has not really been any change in the outlook. The westerly wind relaxes today and calms by tonight as high pressure moves in. A warm front passes by the region Thursday followed by a cold front later Friday. Not a lot of weather associated with these – mainly just temperature changes with a brief warm up then a shot of chill by Saturday.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 56-62. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
THIS EVENING (HALLOWEEN): Clear. Temperatures cool into 40s. Diminishing W wind.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Areas of frost. Lows 28-35 and even colder in some deeper valleys. Wind calm.
WEDNESDAY: Sunshine and high clouds. Highs 55-61. Wind light variable to SE.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy. Slight chance of light rain. Lows in the 40s. Highs from the middle 50s to lower 60s.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Slight chance of a rain shower. Lows from the middle 40s to lower 50s. Highs from the lower 60s to near 70.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the 50s.

DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 5-9)
A fast-flowing jet stream will bring frequent changes but no major storms. Look for a frosty start November 5 then clouding up with some unsettled weather into November 7 which will be milder. Uncertain but leaning toward fair and chilly November 8-9.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 10-14)
Similar pattern to the previous period expected but impossible to time systems and air mass changes at this point.

  1. Thanks TK !

As projected and probably likely to change, the hr 216 projection on the 00z EURO might be good for some wet snow northwest of Albany, NY into parts of NW Vermont, northern NH and northwestern Maine, IF the precip shield extends that far north from the coastal low.

    1. Nice. It used to be we had snow even here on or about Nov 11. However, it seemed far more often than not we had snow on our yearly trips to Stowe, VT.

  2. yeah I admit I kind of jumped the gun, I am just worried with the fact that we have no back up QB. I understand why they did it but what I think should of happened is 2nd round pick with money and or another lower draft pick. in like lets say 4 I guess that’s what I am wondering is why he did not go for more.

    1. Matt, your concerns are warranted and perfectly normal. Don’t let yourself fall into the in bill we trust trap. We could have and should have gotten more in return, or a different return to help this team this year.

      1. With all due respect…..I’m a bit curious why trusting someone that has been criticized repeatedly on this blog, on FB, in conversations everywhere is a trap. So far he has been proven to be right every time. To me…he is the coach and a darned good one….if he blew it this time, well…then he did. I sure don’t have the knowledge and background information he has.

        1. Trap was the wrong word, more of the mindset of not being critical of our team and the coach when it is warranted. Gut reaction of the trade for many was wow i cant believe he did that. The mindset many then take is trying to explain it away and justify it as a good move just because many before them have been the right moves instead of looking at it on a case by case basis.

          1. I look at everything case by case. I did with this and I still think it’s an excellent move.

We were likely to lose JG and get nothing for him anyway.

          2. Fair enough. I still don’t really understand, however. Gut reaction to several of the moves in the past have received the “wow, I can’t believe he did that” reaction also.

If moves BB made in the past have been highly criticized….and they have been…and the criticism turned out to be incorrect …..shouldn’t we have learned from it? I recall being shocked by Welker, for instance. My mistake, and I try to learn from my mistakes.

I don’t follow him or his decisions blindly. I simply don’t have the knowledge to put myself in BB’s shoes. So maybe this is a mistake. It makes me a bit nervous not to have a backup QB. But I’m simply not qualified.

I can say one thing for sure….judging from the criticism of many of his past decisions and including this one….I’m glad he is running the team and not the fans πŸ™‚

    2. My only problem is they “could” have possibly received a 1st round pick
IF they traded him before the start of the season and kept Brissett.
In that sense, they missed the boat. Word I hear is that they wanted
to make certain that TB 12 could perform before they unloaded Garoppolo.

My understanding is that they will pick up Brian Hoyer as the back up for now
and probably draft a QB when the draft rolls around, probably in the 2nd round.

  3. Thank you TK.

And now that we are in a bit of a weather lull I wanted to share a touching moment that took place at my older son’s football game on Sunday. The game took place in Abington on the same field my dad played in high school. A week ago Sunday he was inducted in the Abington High School Athletic Hall of Fame. My son’s coach arranged for a moment of silence for my dad and wrote an emotional tribute about my dad that was read by his daughter. It was a surprise to me as well as my mom and brother that were in attendance. And if that wasn’t enough he also let my son play running back for one play to try to score the extra points after a touch down. His coach was hoping to get him in the end zone that my dad spent so much time in during his high school career. Although he didn’t make it in the end zone the thought that a coach would take a chance at giving up extra points for the sake of remembering my dad was simply overwhelming. Nice to know there are still coaches out there that not only teach kids a sport but also teach them life lessons.

Sorry for the long post but just wanted to share.

    1. I’m so glad you shared this wonderful story, tribute to your dad, lasting memory for you and your entire family and something your oldest will never forget. I’m of course crying all over again. Thank you, Sue. Big hugs!

  4. Thank you, TK.

    Beautiful story, Sue.

Gorgeous day outside. Fitting that this absolutely stunning month (on the whole) should end on a fine note. Even though I like winter and fall, there’s something melancholic about Halloween as it symbolizes the end of comfortable weather. Yes, I do enjoy the comfort of days in the 60s and 70s, in spite of my body adjusting quite well to cold.

  5. It looks like the last few days knocked out of 1st position in terms of warmest
October on record. (Well since records were kept, who knows climatelogically speaking)
Looks like somewhere #2 through #5, depending upon the final numbers.

    1. Since Logan’s temps have been running too high for quite a while, it shouldn’t have been in 1st anyway.

And I haven’t looked yet (mobile) but I suspect the storm that was on yesterday’s ECMWF for the 8th should be gone by this run.

  6. Do we NOT have a backup QB? With this offensive line, at some point Brady is bound to need to miss a play or two if nothing else. Talk about Russian Roulette!

    1. With the bye week I’m sure they’ll sign some re-tread. They are all in on Brady playing until at least 45

          1. I guess I am on an island on this, But I really, really hope Kraft has the guts to sign Kaepernick!
He is infinitely better than facuckta Brian Hoyer!

        1. Glad to know your son is okay, but that’s a traumatic experience.

An awful terror attack. They’re all awful, but this one seemed particularly cowardly. He targeted the most vulnerable to a truck’s impact: runners, bicyclists, and children in a school bus (I’m not sure if the school bus had children in it, but the terrorist likely targeted it, believing there were children in it).

      1. So I take it you are much better with a mobile device keyboard????
        πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I cannot for the life of me negotiate a mobile device keyboard and I have a Samsung S8 which has a tad larger screen. No matter, same sucky keyboard results.

For the record I do not drink. I haven’t had a drink in 10 years or more.

        1. I remembered you don’t drink. I was laughing because as I sat outside handing out candy I also emailed and txtd. And I can barely see the keyboard, let alone hit the right keys

  7. Walking the neighborhood with my 4th grader and her friends.

Couldn’t have gotten better Halloween weather with the moonlight and quickly cooling temps. Perfect !!

    1. A wonderful Halloween. We put candy out here and headed to older daughters so cousins could go out together. I handed out candy. Normally, they have forty plus. I’d be surprised if there were twenty tonight

      1. Nice. Some of my daughters friends came here because our neighborhood is huge. I’m exhausted (in a good way) from all the walking.

        1. I was sitting here reflecting on Halloweens past sign some smiles and some tears and some laughiut Louds Enjoy every second. I know you do. It goes far too quickly.

          1. It sure flies by. It’s freaky that it seems like the last Halloween feels like it was minutes ago. I get that feeling when we take our annual field trip to Salem around Halloween. It goes by in a blink.

  8. Final Tally: 154 trick or treaters.

102 regular sized candy bars and 52 issuances of 2 snack sized Nestle Crunch bars
from the emergency supply. We have been living at this address since 1975 and this
was an all time record number of tricker-or-treaters for us.

I had to shut off the porch light and go dark. Luckily only a very few were denied.
In fact the whole street got wiped out.

  9. A random thought based more off of probability than meteorology.

It’s been so mild since the equinox, that I think there’s a better than usual chance of a substantial snowfall, perhaps right down to the coastline, in the mid November to early December timeframe.

Again, more to probability, with the idea that we haven’t come close to snow at all and thus, I can see a blast of cold so different from what we have seen that has staying power as some moisture comes up from the south.

  10. The last two years While putting up my outdoor X-mas decorations its been warm with me wearing a t-shirt.. Will it be 3 years in a row, or will I not be able to feel my fingers.

  11. Brian Hoyer reported to be visiting the Patriots this morning.

C’mon Kraft, grow a pair and sign Kaepernick.

    1. Kaepernick makes no sense in this offense. You want your backup to have a similar style to the starter for an easier transition to the offense.

      1. I do not agree. Kaepernick is a pro and he is not stupid.
He could adapt readily to the Pats style. Hoyer is an inferior player. Why not get the Best player available?

Signing Hoyer makes ZERO sense to me.

        1. JP, Kaepernick has no background in this system, I would have agreed at the start of the season, but since its in the middle Hoyer does make the most sense as he knows the system.

    2. I’m inclined to agree with Ace and Matt on this. Although, and as I said, for other reasons, I’d like to see Kap signed. I think he on the downward slide. Also, he is not necessarily a team player. I know the Pats have said players can chose to do what they want in regard to the Anthem which actually shocked me even though I support the decision. However, BB is anything but a fan of distractions and Kap is a distraction.

  12. A State Commission is going to decide today as to whether MA is going to switch to Atlantic Stupid Time (AST). πŸ™ πŸ™

Personally I consider this an extremely selfish act, taking away what little daylight we have on winter mornings especially. I only wish that I could express my opinion on this. I find it interesting that marijuana laws were at least voted on by all residents but when it comes to time changing a half dozen people get to decide my fate.

Is it too much to ask to have some daylight when I get off my bus and my 10 minute walk to my building? Even as it is now, it doesn’t get truly light for another half hour.

I for one am very much looking forward for this Sunday when we go back to Standard Time. πŸ˜€

Sadly we no longer have any “standards” in this country. πŸ™

Now if MA were to go to year round STANDARD TIME then I might listen.

8:20 am sunrises! And while the other 49 states still sleep I have to get up to go to work. BEYOND INSANE!!!!

    1. I’m perfectly fine with Atlantic time and completely doing away
with DST forever. But I am only one person. I shall adapt to whatever
      is decided. πŸ˜€

    2. Like Dave, I’ll adapt. However, I agree with your comments. The majority did not like it in the mid 1970s

      1. JPD, Vicki…you both misunderstand, if this goes through it would be year round DST. Our winter morning sunrises would be as late as 8:20 am. Not to mention while the rest of the nation gets the extra hour of sleep we would be already up. TV schedules would change because all programming would be an hour later. If you wanted to watch a favorite show that comes on at 8:00 pm you would have to wait until 9:00 pm. Schools would have either radically change their start schedules or have kids go to school and arrive in the dark.

No other state, not even Maine observes AST!

        1. I don’t think I misunderstood. I did know all of that. Or I think I’m understanding correctly. We switched to DST in January 1975 (I think it was 75) because of the energy crisis. And I vividly recall sitting at my desk at work watching the sun rise.

However, I had not considered TV schedules and the like. I am now on the I don’t want any part of it team.

      1. I would like a bit of daylight when I go to work in the morning. If we go AST I would get absolutely NOTHING in terms of light not even on arrival at 7:00. For me I wouldn’t see any light out my window for another hour or more.

I am sick of us morning people having to do all the sacrificing. You evening people only suffer in total darkness (4:12) between now and Christmas, a precious few weeks.

      1. Really? Ugh. And I hadn’t thought about all of the TV shows. Double ugh. I’m now changing to the I want no part of this team.

  13. Kids are finally back to school today after being out the last two days. Too many downed trees on some of the roads in town that were impacting bus routes.

I ended up being out of power for about 26 hours which was do-able and fortunately a short enough period that we were able to save everything in the refrigerator/freezer.

Charter finally repaired all the downed communication cables on my road yesterday so phone and internet are back now too.

Progress is being made but still 600 without power in Coventry and 18,100 in CT. The tree carnage with this storm was far worse than Sandy (at least in my area).

  14. The AST thing was not a final decision by any stretch. It was more like a “yes we should” nor “no we shouldn’t”. They said we should only do it if other states in New England switch too. It’ll never happen. Dead issue soon.

The Pats now have a backup QB. Nobody had any patience. Gee what a surprise. I’m sure we’ll trash the new guy before he ever has a chance to prove himself with a new team too. But I expect nothing different. πŸ™‚

Oh and by the way, NEW POST!
