Wednesday Forecast

7:22AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 20-24)
A disturbance will pass south of the region tonight and early Thursday, bringing some cloudiness but it is still looking to me like the rain at worst skirts the South Coast but otherwise stays south of the region. Cannot rule out a pop up shower Thursday afternoon interior MA to RI and eastern CT as there will be a little air convergence there. By Saturday, a warm front moving through the region may bring a few patches of insignificant light rain to the region. Don’t cancel any plans. This will be followed by a cold front crossing the region later Sunday, which may end up as a cloudier but muggy day overall with a threat of showers and possible thunderstorms. Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly sunny morning. Partly sunny afternoon. Highs 76-84, coolest coast. Wind light variable to SW but local coastal sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Brief rain possible South Coast. Lows 52-60. Wind light variable.
THURSDAY: Clouds most dominant southern areas early otherwise partly to mostly sunny. A pop up shower possible mainly mid to late afternoon central MA, RI, and eastern CT. Highs 75-83, coolest coast. Wind light E to SE except NE to N over central MA to eastern CT.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 50-55 interior valleys, 55-60 elsewhere. Wind light variable.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 75-80 coast, 80-85 inland. Wind light variable with sea breezes.
SATURDAY: Variably cloudy. Slight chance of brief light rain. More humid at night. Lows from the upper 50s to lower 60s. Highs from the middle 70s to lower 80s, coolest coastal areas.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Chance of thunderstorms. Humid. Lows in the 60s. Highs from the middle 70s to lower 80s.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 25-29)
Expecting mainly dry weather for this period but will watch for small disturbances coming along a weaker jet stream in a general west to east flow. A trough nearby early in the period means temperatures will start out slightly below normal and a ridge to the west later in the period translates into warmer weather arriving.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 30-JULY 4)
Much of this period looks dry with minimal shower and thunderstorm threat. Temperatures trending above normal.

  1. There was a second confirmed tornado in Bath, NH, on Monday. It is not far from Lincoln and was about the same intensity. Can a tornado reach the ground, lift and then reach again? If so, is it considered the same tornado or does it touching the ground automatically make it a second tornado? I’m not thinking this is the case with this one since there are 37 miles between Bath and Lincoln but Lincoln is on a straight line SE of Bath so would think, based on no knowledge other than logistics and possible timing, that both might well be from the same cell?

  2. Thanks TK !

  3. Yikes – I think I better plan to try and set up the wunder station with AcuRite at night. I just called. I was #24 in the queue with a 104 minute wait time.

    1. Hmmm, I never had this problem.
If you are set with your AcuRite mobile APP, then all is set up properly
      with the internet.

You should probably contact Wunder and not AcuRite. The rest is really
with Wunder. You’ll need to open an account and then register your
Weather Station. presumably you already have all of the needed information.

      Best of luck.

      1. Ohhhh – thank you very much. I will call them now. Your guidance is GREATLY appreciated, JPD.

  4. I’m sorry – I promise to stop soon, but I am REALLY excited. It will be a while before my station starts sending data to Wunder but it is all set up. It was quite simple just following the prompts on Wunderground.

JPD – I cannot thank you enough for your encouragement and help from purchase through to this point.

    1. No problem at all. You are most welcome.
So happy you’ve got it all set.

You may see your data at Wunder sooner than you think. If I remember correctly, it was only about an hour or so for me, but I could be wrong.
      I suffer from CRS! (can’t remember s**t)

      1. Hey – we have the same affliction….which I have demonstrated just yesterday.

Seriously, though, I’m hoping I set it up properly in my station information. It took me a bit to figure out that I needed to enter the ID and wunder pw in my AcuRite system. It didn’t say that (or more likely I missed it) when wunder gave me the ID and pw.

        1. JPD – the part in italics confused me a bit “Once you have a Station ID and password you need to type them into your weather station software. The password for each of your stations is the password you use to log in to our site.

Wunder gave me a pw and that is what I entered into my station info which did specify that I enter the wunder pw. But it isn’t the pw I have set up for either my wunder account or my AcuRite account.

Other than that, it was straight forward.

  5. Beautiful day!

Were this winter though, we’d be pulling our hair out at the potential for a sneaky 3-6” snow event south of the Pike late tonight and early tomorrow. Mesoscale models not agreeing on how far north this fast moving wave will make it. Could stay dry everywhere, or we could see a decent soaker in parts of CT/RI.

        1. I’d say bring it on, except I know what it does to her.
I have never seen anyone so affected by the heat and humidity. It makes her physically very ill.

I am not a fan of HHH weather, but I can tolerate just fine, even at my advanced age. πŸ˜€

Monday, I had to move a table into one of the air conditioned rooms just so we could eat.

          1. So difficult. I do know a fair amount of folks who are affected by HHH. I tend to lose energy. However, I think Mrs. OS is a completely different story. I’m happy you have the window ACs.

  6. The difference between the regular and parallel GFS from the 12z run toward the end of the forecast period is so great for this time of year it’s quite funny. Can you say “test time?” πŸ™‚

    1. Test time.

      Do I win πŸ˜‰

Off to my Dana meeting. Always something I enjoy. Maybe my station will be up and running when I return!

      1. Oh and sorry….I’m in a bit of a snarky mood today. But it is a good thing since the last two weeks were difficult.

          1. NOT really.

            You said: β€œtest time?”
            She said: Test time

Yeah I know. PICKY PICKY PICKY

            1. Maybe. But his was a question. Mine was the answer; and when you say something, the capitalization doesn’t appear πŸ˜‰

  7. Did I ever say that the Red Sox CANNOT hit good pitching.
Sure they can beat up on lousy and mediocre pitching, but a good pitcher almost
always shuts them down. In game like that they couldn’t Hit Water if they
    fell out of a boat.

    Could be their ultimate demise.

    1. Yea and the Yankees are down 5-0 against Seattle. Sox have hit good pitching. They do have trouble with left handers.

  8. Definitely looks like tonight’s rain is staying south, maybe just clipping the South Coast. Well called by TK. The Canadian high-res guidance has smoked the US high res suite on this event. In general, the RGEM and HRDPS seem to be more reliable than the WRFs and even the HRRR.

    1. Latest radar (fwiw) does have the northern fringe tickling the Hartford-Providence corridor though.

      1. And it wasn’t reaching the ground. I took that dry air into account when making the forecast of it not raining in those areas from that wave.
