No big changes for this update. Unsettled pattern continues, though not excessively wet. Fair, mild start, unsettled episode, then a cooler trend, is the current low confidence call.

  1. Love the purple, TK

Wow did tree buds open yesterday. Seems Mother Nature is doing a great job giving them just what they need

  2. Thank you as always, TK! Your work here is greatly appreciated!

    Happy Easter, everyone!

Matt, so happy about your news and work in the Virgin Islands! Congratulations!!!

    0.57 rainfall total so far.

With the recent high dewpoints, I was thinking about a very hot Easter weekend in 1976. Holy Saturday was 93; Easter Sunday was 86 and Easter Monday was 98!!! (Providence high temperatures) Easter Monday was also Patriots Day in Massachusetts that year and it was one of the hottest Boston Marathons in history!!!

Pretty neat Boston sports day today (after Easter dinner, of course πŸ™‚ ) Celtics are on at 1 pm; Red Sox at 2; and the Bruins at 3.

Enjoy the day, everyone, with family and friends!

  3. So there is a reason why I comment on forecast wording and media-fueled (not necessarily meteorologist-fueled) doom & gloom scenarios. We are not in the midst of a 2-3 inch washout weekend. I think it’s pretty clear, once again, that the weaknesses of the models, which are well known, are once again exposed by what happens versus what was said would happen. I sincerely hope someday some news directors start to pay attention to this kind of thing…

    1. One inch here yesterday . Friday was nice. Yesterday not for outdoor hunts nor is today. First time in quite a while we have not been able to have an outdoor Easter Hunt…..I suppose I could put everything in plastic bags but with six grands that is a lot of wrapping the already wrapped so we chose to wait until Orthodox Easter.

  4. Happy Easter everyone. Do or die for the Bruins today. I would wager they win on the road today after a pathetic game 5 loss at home .

    1. Home ice means very little in NHL especially compared to NBA. I think the B’s force a game 7. I sure hope so anyway! πŸ˜‰

      1. You don’t seem your usual confident self TK. Is there some issue on the Bruins that could be troublesome? πŸ˜‰

I know little about hockey other than the team who scores the most goals wins.

  5. The remote control is going to get a work out for Boston sports fans today. Celtics at 1pm could sweep, Red Sox go for a sweep of the Rays at 2pm, and at 3pm Bruins look to force a winner take all game seven at home on Tuesday.

    1. Yup, but that didn’t last long. Answered with 2, then another later, then held them off. That was a great road game. Solid performance! The entire team.

  6. Philip, no I was not worried about the Bruins today. I am not surprised in the least that they forced a game 7. They have been inconsistent in the series, but I had total confidence in them today with backs against the wall.

I feel pretty good about game 7 at this point.

For the record my predicted score for the Bruins today was 4-1 with the Leafs scoring first. Almost got that. 4-2.

    1. Wait….are these the same bruins that suck? I may have to start watching hockey. I keep thinking I will. I suspect I’d enjoy as much as I do football

      1. To some people, I guess. πŸ˜‰ But if you ask me, this team definitely does not suck. Do they get beaten once in a while? Absolutely. But they are a very good team. πŸ™‚

  7. Happy Easter!

I’ve said a prayer for the Christian worshippers and others slaughtered in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. It’s been on my mind all day. While I can understand war in certain circumstances, and even the targeting of military personnel in an occupied territory, I cannot fathom terrorist attacks that target unarmed civilians. It’s revolting, cowardly, and the most heinous of acts.

Captain Fantastic, I have vivid memories of Easter weekend 1976. That was the hottest April weekend I’ve ever experienced. That was a killer marathon, dangerously hot for the runner.

The lows go marching on and on, hurrah, hurray, the lows go marching on and on … This has certainly not been a wash-out weekend. But, it has been mostly gray, and that theme looks to continue. On a positive note, the vegetation does look very healthy this year.

A trifecta this weekend. Bruins showed resilience. Celtics beat an inferior team. The Red Sox swept the only team that swept them last year. Baseball can be weird sometimes. When a reliever named Walden has more wins (3) than all the starters combined, and is making league minimum, while your $25 million a year `ace’ is 0-4, you know something strange is happening.

  8. TK – How will the Bruins buck the series trend in game 7?…

    L, W, L, W, L, W, ?

The trend is certainly not our friend here.

I suppose a certain professional sports gambler would bet ALL his Jeopardy winnings and write down β€œWho is Toronto?” πŸ˜‰

      1. Bruins will go into 7 with momentum from today’s games. Overall they played pretty well today but again dropped the intensity level a bit before Matthews goal . I like them taking it again with the game 7 crowd intensity & momentum from today carried into game 7 ( hopefully)

  9. Will be very interested to see how much rain falls in SNE tomorrow. The 0z HRRR and the 18z hi-res NAM both indicate the potential for locally 2″+. That would be quite a soaker. Several others are showing areas of 1″+. It’s a very innocuous low, but the track/placement may work out just right for a heavy rain event.

  10. I was talking earlier about home ice not really being a solid advantage in the NHL. Both road teams won today when each home team could have ended the series.
