  1. The annual Boston Pops July 4th concert will be held at Tanglewood at a capacity of 9,000 with fireworks thereafter at Boston Common.

(Hopefully) the concert and fireworks display will return to the Esplanade in 2022.

    1. Seems unnecessary given the trends in Mass and what we know about (lack of) outdoor transmission.

      1. I’m confused about this, too. If you’re going to essentially have no more mitigation then that should apply to the Esplanade event. The inconsistency is glaring. Fenway’s packed. Other outdoor venues, too. And of course indoor venues are packed, too (which I am not in agreement with at all). And yet the Esplanade event doesn’t happen.

        1. I believe the fourth is an independent non profit. Maybe that makes the difference. It may also have to do with planning and sponsors, etc. Since many here have raised an eyebrow at some of the relaxing of restrictions, maybe the planners are a voice of reason. I don’t know anywhere near enough to guess.

          1. It just occurred to me that it is a family affair with many young and completely unprotected children. Just another guess

            1. The factors of not having about 10 months of planning time and the “all-ages” set-up were easily the reasons why they could not do the normal set-up. The alternative is excellent, considering what we had in 2020. 🙂
