Tuesday October 5 2021 Forecast (7:17AM)

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 5-9)

While a wave of low pressure moves away today, a weak wind field and abundant low level moisture will keep us cloudy and damp before high pressure from the north dries us out for mid to late week. After a cool day today, it will warm up for midweek before cooling down late in the week as a stronger push of high pressure from the north takes place.

TODAY: Cloudy. Areas of fog, patchy drizzle and spotty light rain through midday. Highs 57-64. Wind NE up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 50-57. Wind N up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 63-70. Wind N up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog interior lower elevations. Lows 47-54. Wind N up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 66-73. Wind variable to NW up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Patchy fog interior lower elevations. Lows 47-54. Wind variable to N under 10 MPH.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 64-71. Wind N to NE 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 47-54. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 60-67. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 10-14)

High pressure shifts to the east October 10 & 11 leaving some room for the possibility of shower activity on October 10 and maybe another shower later October 11 as a front moves through from the west. High pressure is expected to build in after that with dry weather and near to above normal temperatures.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 15-19)

The current indications are for high pressure ridging to be the dominant feature with dry weather and temperatures averaging above normal for mid October.

  1. Thanks TK.

A Bermuda High type setup upcoming? According to Dave Epstein, no frost expected for at least the next two weeks. Foliage still mostly green around the city, and even just outside as well.

    1. Not really a Bermuda High. It’s just high pressure ridging to dominate the eastern US and a somewhat stable pattern.

    1. Thanks TK.

What are folks thoughts about the Gametime weather tonight? Trying to pull the triggers on tickets but don’t want to be sitting in drizzle. Ha

    1. Funny surely enough. I was going to ask you what Mrs OS thoughts are. Several reasons for FB to be down…..and I have never believed in coincidences 😉

      1. Mrs. OS believes that the FCC shut them down and then it took 6 hours for the FB legal staff to get an injunction or something to at least allow FB to resume temporarily.
Perhaps some sort of back room deal was made where Zuckerberg promised to change the algorithms. Something
        along those lines. 🙂

        1. Yes!!! That was my thought also. But I was reading more this am. Did FB want to demonstrate the fall out from its absence?

Haugen’s lawyers have filed around eight complaints with the SEC and she testifies today before “the Senate Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, and Data Security about the effects of social media on teenagers.”

One thing I am sure of. It was no accident

            1. I could care less since I don’t and never been on FB, but I like Mrs. JPD’s theories on various occurrences. They generally make at least some sense. 🙂

    1. That is one part of my Accurite that I have verified enough to trust. We had 2.04, 1.55, .24.

Anyone on whw good at math 😉 🙂

It might be 3.83 but I’m not awake yet nor am I up to checking to see if we have another sink hole. Although, this was not all at once.

  2. Thank you, TK.

    2.14 inches from the event.

Seth Wickersham should write for National Inquirer. Have never understood his appeal. Can’t stand the guy or his brand. It’s not sports writing, it’s gossip based on hearsay.

Brady on Belichick (they had a 15 minute meeting after the game):

“It was a very personal, private thing,” Brady said. “We’ve always had that type of relationship where we can say things to each other. You know, whoever characterizes our relationship [as bad] is completely wrong. People want to focus on so much stuff that’s so unimportant.”

    1. I have a long list of sports writers from decades ago that fit your description. It is truly sad that they still get away with this nonsense

  3. Thanks TK. In good agreement with all your thoughts above 🙂

Very impressive rain totals from many of you! I didn’t realize this was going to be such a soaking, multi-day deluge up there. Definitely looks like we’re switching to a much drier pattern, and we could sure use it. And as discussed, very warm for the season as well. Probably going to be seeing stats on latest frost, freeze, etc. Not to worry though, I wouldn’t connect any dots between the current pattern and the winter 😉

          1. I don’t recall the foul off his foot prior but I sure remember the rest. Still painful to watch.

Sox had a really good shot imo to win it’s first WS since 1918. That 1978 team was very powerful which is a lot more than I can say about this current one. Too many inconsistencies. I actually almost wish this was in NY instead. Well, we’ll see.

  4. I think it is going to be a close game. As a Yankees fan this has been a frustrating season. At times they look like they are the best team in baseball. At the other times they look like the worst team in baseball. It would not surprise me if they got hot and win the world series or lose tonight.

    1. Garrett Whitlock coming out of the Red Sox pen in the 8th tonight, not Darwinson “grand slam” Hernandez or Adam “10 seconds to homeplate” Ottavino.

We’ll see how Giancarlo fares against Mr Whitlock.

        1. Tripped on the 2nd base bag while going to take the field between innings and twisted his ankle. He sure is no Curt Schilling. These guys are made of glass

            1. I have been corrected. I am hearing many players have moved past the prima Donna stage and are working hard in outreach, etc. It makes me happy to be wrong since that is the player of old.

  5. FWIW, NWS Boston point & zone forecasts have no rain at all forecast for the Boston area through October 12.

Anyone wanna take bets that Boston will get at least a trace by the end of that period of time? 😉

  6. If you want a drive with some amazing scenery, the one I just took was great. Since there were some thunderstorms near Vegas, we took a day trip up to St. George, Utah. (One more state knocked off my list!) The drive on I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge alone was worth it. I just put the camera on the dashboard and took a lot of pictures. I’ll post them at some point after we’re home (we fly home Thursday night).

        1. It was awesome. Visually, Fenway seemed to be rocking.

I had the volume off on the TV most of the time. 🙂 🙂

          1. Hahaha. I had volume off for the last half. I listened to a book I’m partway through but watched. It keeps my nerves in check

  7. Indeed, how things have changed since I was a boy growing up in fear of the Yankees. Obviously, coming back from 3 games to none to win in 2004 was the turning point. But, the playoff series in 2018 and now this game solidified it. The Yankee mystique no longer fazes the Red Sox.

I give a lot of credit to the team and to Cora for blocking out the noise. That was a tough week, especially after losing 2 out of 3 to the lowly Orioles and being 2 games back of the Yankees with 3 games to go. I didn’t think they had it in them. They proved me wrong. I also didn’t think the Yankees would collapse. And they did. And I don’t think Boone survives this. There’s too much talent and money in this team for it to fail year in year out.

  8. First way to go Red Sox, I was at a Bar here on St. Thomas and there were a bunch of Yankee fans being so confident the Yankees were going to win oh how quickly they changed their tone lol.
Anyways Based solely on the EPS ensemble means weathermodels.com has a new seasonal feature on it. Here are some of them from across New England. If you have a town you would like to see let me know 🙂
EPS snowfall projections for this winter
    Boston 36 inches
    Worcester 39 inches
    Norword 36
    Bedford 50 inches
    Beverly 50 inches

      1. You can interpolate a “model prediction” be using 2 or 3 spots that are closest to the locations you are interested in. In Pembroke’s case, just use Plymouth’s number.

Also keep in mind that it’s a model and doesn’t really mean a thing. 🙂
