  1. Thanks TK.

TSA will continue public transit mask mandate through April 18. Meanwhile, CDC will reevaluate mask guidelines on planes, trains and buses.

  2. The city of Boston has lifted its Covid-19 “health emergency” in effect since March 2020 but school mask mandates remain for now.

  3. We have now been mask optional for the past week–day 1 I’d say about 70% of the students went without masks–now we’re at probably 90%–same for faculty and staff. We had one positive case at school this week (very mild symptoms)–no in school spread. Certainly feels like we are coming out on the other side of this–cautiously optimistic.

    1. That’s good news Dave. Hopefully Boston will be able to wean itself off of widespread masking in the coming weeks.

      1. Boston is still high. I would hope they’d be close to zero for a couple of weeks running. I admire Wu for sticking to her guns

  4. Great minds. I downloaded the school numbers about a half hour ago and was reviewing. The numbers are indeed coming down. Thank God.

Other numbers for five in-school days are Boston 26/11, the poster Town of Hopkinton 22/4, lexingon 36/2, Medfield 13/2, marshfield 9/1, middleboro 3/0, pembroke 0, wayland 14/2, Westbrook 18/2, Winchester 18/1, Worcester 14/13, Sutton 3/0, Uxbridge 1/1. Some of these higher towns really surprised me.

MA school numbers for five in school days are 1,345 students and 372 staff.

It is important to remember that schools are not testing and as such many a positives are not reported or included in these numbers.

As I said at the start, the numbers are declining. Taking into account the unreported home tests, the numbers are in line with what we saw and were shocked by from the start of the school year through the first week of November. That is, we were shocked with those numbers until we hit 100,000 for 11 in school days after Christmas break.

It will not surprise anyone when I say I absolutely believe masks should still be in place. These numbers don’t take into account compromised family members of children and staff.
