Playing Both Sides

10:11PM

For the next 3 days, we’ll be on the cool side of the jet stream while a front sets up to the southwest of New England, at first far enough away to cause only occasional high cloudiness, eventually close enough to bring heavier clouds and a chance of some wet weather.

Then it looks like we’ll be in for at least 3 days on the warmer side of the jet stream as the warm front lifts through by early Saturday. As high pressure ridging in the upper levels presses eastward toward the East Coast, it will be hard to pull any chilly air back into the region from Canada, so a cold front passing by Saturday night will not have much of an impact other than to bring the chance of showers and thunderstorms. This may repeat again by later Monday, with fairly mild air likely to hang on even through Tuesday when another cold front has pushed through.

Forecast for southeastern New England…

OVERNIGHT: Clear. Lows ranging from the middle 30s in interior valleys to 40s elsewhere. Wind light NW.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny but sun may be filtered at times by some high cloudiness. Highs in the 60s except holding in the 50s at the coast. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows in the 40s. Wind light SE.

THURSDAY: Sunshine filtered at times by variable high clouds. Highs in the 60s, again cooler coast. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of light rain. Low 47. High 57.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of showers and thunderstorms at night. Low 50. High 76.

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy. Low 55. High 74.

MONDAY: Partly cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms late. Low 60. High 80 except cooler South Coast.

TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Low 51. High 70.

  1. Thanks tk, I’m just happy that we r consistently in the 60’s and 70’s now, average high for May 7th is 68 degrees, average low is 47 degrees.

  2. At the Riverside T stop, there is a tiny mound of snow (ice) in shady side of parking lot.

  3. Thanks TK.

    Did I see 80?

    NICE!!!

    re: Bruins
    PATHETIC!!!!!!!

What a piss-poor performance that was!

Tuukka SHOULD have stopped at least ONE of those breakaways.

    Oh well, Onto Thursday Night.

    1. And of course due to POOR positioning, those breakaways should have
NEVER happened in the first place.

  4. Heading to Fenway tonight, brought gloves and hat just in case sea breeze kicks in which is likely πŸ™‚

  5. A great goalie picks up his team when they are not playing well and Tukka has not done that. To be elite status you need to perform when your team doesn’t.

    1. Yes, for sure. Just didn’t happen.

He has a NEW BABY at home, so I’ll cut him a little slack. πŸ˜€

    2. Where’s Tim Thomas when we need him??

Oh right, he’s off somewhere in CO stocking up his bunker, baaaahahahahhaa

  6. Thanks TK. It was Ride you Bike to School Day at my boys’ school this morning and couldn’t have asked for better weather.

  7. NORTHEAST wind at Plymouth already.

Could be RATHER COOL along the coast later today.

Hadi, you may have to BUNDLE UP.

Let’s hope that for today, Fenway is “just” far enough inland to avoid
    the ICE BOX. πŸ˜€

  8. Good morning, what a long morning, beautiful outside!!

NFL DRAFT starts tommorrow, I’ll be at Gillette enjoying it tommorow evening, it will be live on a few tv stations, can’t wait, good day everyone πŸ™‚

            1. My bad. Thought you meant hockey. Yeah, the draft is brutal. And I’m a huge nfl fan.

      1. Love Football but sorry Bruins will be on in my house, I can watch the my teams picks online.

        1. TV ratings On a local level sure, though I bet u there closer than one would think considering one is Stanley cup playoffs and one is a draft to play football, national tv ratings it won’t even be close, this is no disrespect, good day everyone πŸ™‚ Go Patriots Go Bruins

  9. Thanks TK.
The draft is good but I can’t wait for training camp to start. To me when training camp starts football season is not that far away and neither is fall.
Those thunderstorms Saturday look to be non severe with the biggest threat downpours.

  10. Murphy’s Law to strike again …

I have been complaining since mid February wanting warmer and warmer weather,

and, of course, it is coming in full force …. Monday.

This would be the 1st day of 6th grade MCAS, when I want it to be 48F with cloudy skies and drizzle.

So, of course, I’ll get a warm, stuffy building and weather that will have students thinking of being outdoors instead of focusing on a year’s worth of common core math.

    Of course !! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  11. Tk judging by models the next serious threat for rain looks like midweek next week. Would you concur?

    1. Mixed feelings on it. We may have a shot around Tuesday and I expect that system to be more progressive than some models have. If cutting off occurs it may be too far south to impact this area. Not seeing any real serious rain threats right now.

  12. Comparing Ch 5’s and Ch 7’s days 5, 6, and 7 forecast highs for Boston.

    5: 65 65 65
    7: 80 79 78

    Just a tad different. πŸ˜€

  13. Pool water is 57 degrees, it’s about 1 degrees cooler than it normally is around the 1st week of May. The pool will be busy if temps reach the 70’s and 80’s this weekend. πŸ™‚

    1. Other than falling through the ice, 53 degrees is the COLDEST
water in which I have taken a swim. BRRRR…….

      57 is toasty. πŸ˜€

  14. 18z GFS indicating some CAPE across western areas for thunderstorms Tuesday. I am not buying it this far out and its the 18z GFS.
Hoping to be tracking some thunderstorms soon.

  15. re: the B’s last night from Don Cherry:

β€œBut here’s the thing that bothers me, is the Bruins were out-hit last night. Imagine the Bruins being out-hit by those little midgets with Montreal. They’re just not ready. And if they’re not ready, it’s going to be a short series.”

Cherry said the Bruins need to be more physical but disciplined, and that it shouldn’t be that difficult.

    1. Very disappointed in last nights performance . I hate to say it but Montreal looks like they want it more and Tuka is not looking solid in net right now. Must win for bruins tomorrow as if they drop this one I think the series is over.

      1. It’s never over until it’s over. BUT it would make it extremely difficult to almost impossible. It truly is a MUST win.

Let’s see IF they have the appetite for it.

        1. As I posted here yesterday before the game all they need out there is a split, that’s all. But in my view of things the bruins seem to be slipping with rask leading the pack.

  16. I love the pats and bruins but when my teams don’t show up I’m the first to hammer them. What I’m seeing in this game starting with game one and to me getting worse is sloppy play with the puck, very bad passing and not aggressive enough.

  17. If the Bruins lose this series, I will always remember those racist tweets which probably pumped up PK Subban and the entire Montreal team even more then they already were.

  18. What do the ……

    1984 Boston Celtics ….
    1988 LA Lakers
    1998 NY Yankees
    2013 Chicago Blackhawks
    2013 Boston Red Sox

( and I’m sure there are other examples I cant recall ) …. what do these teams have in common ?

    ……

At some point during the playoffs, they were down 2-1 in a series, game 4 for them was on the road and they went on to win the whole thing.

I dont know if the Bruins will win tonight or win this series, but history shows there’s plenty of precedence to recover from this position in a series.

    1. Another similarity is that, all 5 of these teams had the best record in their league that particular year, much like the Bruins do this year.

Even the best teams sometimes have that struggle somewhere during the playoff run.

Yes, I am trying to inspire some confidence. πŸ™‚
