Tuesday Forecast

7:18AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 12-16)
High pressure sinks south of the region today and brings a warmer southwesterly air flow today. A low pressure area passing north of New England Wednesday will drag its warm front / cold front duo through here but timing will not allow any powerful thunderstorms to get going as the warm frontal showers will take place mostly mid morning to early afternoon and any shower/storm threat from the cold front comes too late in the evening, as there is otherwise not a lot of support other than warm and humid air and some daytime heating for such activity. Drier air returns for the remainder of the week but a pool of chilly air above will trigger some clouds both Thursday and Friday, and though I expect most shower activity to be in the mountains Thursday and Maine Friday, can’t rule one out into southern NH or northeastern MA Thursday. Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 73-78 South Coast, 79-84 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-15 MPH, gusts 20-30 MPH at times.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear evening. Increasing clouds overnight. Lows 55-62. Wind SW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy through early afternoon with a couple periods of showers most likely from mid morning to around noon. Variably cloudy mid afternoon on. Humid. Highs 73-78 South Coast, 79-84 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Isolated showers or thunderstorms possible before midnight. Patchy fog. Lowering humidity. Lows 55-62. Wind SW 5-15 MPH shifting to W.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy. Slight risk of a shower late-day in southern NH and northeastern MA. Highs 75-82. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows in the 50s. Highs from the middle to upper 70s.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs from the upper 70s to middle 80s.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 17-21)
Heat builds June 17-18 but low humidity and dry weather June 17 followed by higher humidity and the risk of showers/thunderstorms June 18. Generally fair and seasonably warm weather is expected for the remainder of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 22-26)
A brief cool down early in the period followed by a wet weather threat mid period before fair and seasonable weather returns.

  1. May I vent about the US Post Office? Nah, you don’t want to hear what I have to say.
I’ll just leave it as: IT SUCKS!

      1. Not talking about the letter carriers. I am specifically talking
about the offices themselves and the total and complete
lack of service and caring by anyone in the office!

  2. two good weekends = work. Parents are trying to get as much labor as possible out of me before I find a new job

      1. Sorry, Matt, gotta second JPD πŸ™‚ But then I also know you do a lot of work around the house.

        1. i wonder at times whats going to happen when I do leave lol. Many of the jobs are not around here in Mass, so Its like a 70% chance of moving out of state for work. Nearly 90% when I go to grad school. I have only applied to 2 jobs here in Mass. Not because I do not want to stay in New England but because there is almost nothing around.

  3. SPC outlook tomorrow. 12z NAM for tomorrow goes way overboard on severe parameters as its showing for Upstate NY and western parts of SNE especially the SIG TOR and supercell composite. I don’t agree with the marginal risk in western parts of SNE but will see what happens when this updates around 1:30pm today.

  4. Thanks TK. Looks like we may add some heat to our dry spell by early next week. Monday would likely be the day we shoot for 90-95+ if the current picture holds up.

  5. Breeze is warmer today….not hot by any stretch, but definitely warmer. Interesting since it is a few degrees cooler in both temp and dew point. Wind has to be from basically the same direction as it is coming in the same window.

I would take this weather as an average except November through January…Maybe October and February πŸ˜‰

  6. Just came in from lunch.

BEAUTIFUL out there. Temp right at 80 or 81 depending upon which thermometer
    is used. πŸ˜€

    Still dry, however.

  7. Some nostalgia….

This tune may seem “sappy” to some or perhaps most, but understand
that this was out when I was a kid and this song drove me absolutely nuts.
I Loved this tune and used to listen to Dave Maynard’s count down on BZ AM 1030
to see where it stood each week. It stayed in the top 10 for several weeks, if not longer.

    Enjoy OR not. πŸ˜€

    1. Not sappy – happy. I had completely forgotten that song but sure makes me smile.

I enjoyed Dave Maynard’s countdown but wmex was my favorite. I rarely listened to anything else. Arnie woo woo Ginsburg πŸ˜‰

          1. Salty’s son has been on 105.7 for years now. They have a track of Salty doing The Night Before Christmas on one of their holiday albums. πŸ™‚

            1. Awesome. I thought I heard him
on WROR recently. I don’t often listen to that station, but since I cannot tolerate
commercials, I do have it as one of my presets. (I hit buttons until I find music I like. I will NOT listen to the damn commercials!) I switch to CD if I must. Thus I do listen on occasion and sometimes they play tunes I like.

              1. I’ve always liked Loren & Wally but I seldom listen to morning radio other than perhaps 15 minutes of WBZ news on my way to work.

                1. Are they still on? Mac and I loved Loren and Wally. Youngest listens to Bobby Bones show on Iheart radio

  8. For those who love the heat your loving what you are seeing Monday on the 12z GFS.
No change in SPC outlook for tomorrow with the 1:30pm update.

    1. NAM much more robust than the GFS and ALL to the West. Nothing
even remotely approaching severe for Eastern Sections as is the case
      most of the time.

  9. I don’t agree with the marginal risk in western parts of SNE. I think if there are going to be strong to locally severe storms tomorrow it will be in parts of Upstate NY.

  10. I am a bit concerned for severe weather (wind damage primary threat) for a small portion of southern New England tomorrow, basically from the Berkshires to west central MA, down through the northwest half of CT. They are a bit outside the prime area which sits just to the west, but may be the receivers of a couple bands of storms that form in the more primed area and advance east southeast. The type of wind shear that will be in place will make it possible for any individual cells to rotate. We can also see brief bowing of small clusters.

Areas further east will be immune to such activity as the parameters will not be there and the timing will be too late anyway.

For now, I believe SPC has the areas outlined properly regarding marginal & slight risks. In the marginal zone, well the conditions will be marginal. IN the slight zone, there is a slight risk. πŸ˜‰ They may have to bullseye a smaller area in there for an upgrade to enhanced risk.

    1. I’m thinking that includes me. GREATLY appreciated. Will take umbrellas down and put plants that are up under the tables

  11. Vicki, Loren & Wally were together on air for 35 years. Wally retired in December 2016. I don’t know if you have ever heard Wally’s story about buying his wife a Christmas present, but it’s one of the funniest things I have ever heard in my life…

    1. I will look for it. I would be surprised if I have not heard it and suspect the very start of it will refresh my memory. They were the best morning team IMO

      1. If you can’t find it anywhere, I have a recording of it on CD I will save for an opportunity to play for you.

        1. No wonder I could not find it. I would love to hear it. I’m betting I’ll know it – or at least part – but will need to listen for a complete refresh. Thank you.

            1. ohhhhh – I recall – not the story but certainly the background. Would not take me long though. My girls – as was the case with most teens at the time – were huge fans of Tiffany’s. I am certain we made sure they listened for it. I’ll have to ask them. Thank you.

  12. I share TK’s thoughts on the severe weather tomorrow. It’s a pretty good setup out to the west (though not as good as a couple from May), and it wouldn’t surprise me to see an enhanced risk added over NY. But how far east the residual action makes it is questionable. It may make it to those areas TK mentioned, or it could fall apart before reaching any part of New England.

    1. I didn’t mention this, but the key to how far east it makes it into western areas is sunshine in the warm sector. However even if that potential is maximized they still won’t make it any further east than that. I expect a dying line of showers to make it into central MA and southwestern NH sometime at night.

  13. The only two radio stations I listen to are WROR 105.7 (best oldies music) and WBZ radio (overnight talk). Those “Men from Maine” segments on WROR are hilarious! πŸ˜€

    1. Whoa. I didn’t know there was an oldies station left. After 103.3i thought they’d all gone. Good to know. Thank you

      1. A station that will be right up your alley is Big 105.3FM, new in Boston area as of April. Greatest hits of the 60s & 70s. πŸ™‚ The only issue you may have with the station in northeastern MA is trying to get it on FM radio. If you can get it streaming you’re all set.

        1. Thank you. I’ll look it up. Daughter uses I heart radio. I have not as yet. Wonder if I can get it that way

        2. Thanks TK! I may try that station as well. WROR plays 70’s, 80’s and a teeny bit of 60’s music. I consider anything 30+ years as “oldies”. πŸ™‚

      1. Wow you are brave. Wind is really whipping here Although I suspect you may not be as dry as we are.

Have a great evening. Sounds wonderful.

        1. Be careful! Don’t let that fire get out of control. With conditions so dry, it doesn’t take much to spread.

          1. its a fire pit, and there are no trees around, we also take precautions and spray down the gardens around the patio area.

            1. and also yes not as dry, I do live on a fresh water marsh/bog. It has characteristics of both lol.
