Friday Forecast

7:17AM

DAYS 1-5 (MAY 11-15)
A cold front pushes just to the south today which will be a very dry day with a breeze picking up. This leads to high fire danger today, especially across southern NH and northern MA. But rain is on the way and unfortunately it will involve some of the weekend as the front that just went by tries to come back Saturday, and a ripple of low pressure moving along it helps create some rain to pass through the region. This is all expected to push southward again for a drier Mother’s Day Sunday, although some areas may not see complete clearing. Expect high pressure to continue to sink to the south keeping fair weather in place and allowing a warm-up early next week. Details…
TODAY: Early to mid morning cloudiness southern NH and northern MA, mid to late morning cloudiness southern MA and RI / eastern CT, otherwise mainly sunny. Highs 65-72 except cooler Cape Cod / Islands. Wind NW 5-15 MPH with a few higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds. Lows 40-46 most interior areas, 47-53 coast and urban centers. Wind N under 10 MPH.
SATURDAY: Cloudy. Periods of rain. Highs 48-56. Wind N under 10 MPH becoming E up to 10 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 41-47. Wind light variable.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny with more sun likely southern NH and northern MA and less sun to the south. Highs 55-62 coast, 62-68 inland. Wind light variable with coastal sea breezes.
MONDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows from the middle 40s to lower 50s. Highs in the 60s, coolest South Coast.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs from the middle 60s to lower 70s South Coast, middle 70s to lower 80s elsewhere.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 16-20)
A frontal boundary is expected to be in the region from the early to middle portion of this period with unsettled weather dominating. High pressure from Canada may push everything to the south and return drier weather to the region later in the period. Temperatures near normal.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 21-25)
Continued low confidence in the longer range as several potential players are on the table. Leaning toward a dry start and wetter end to this period with temperatures not too far from seasonal averages.

    1. Same here. Rather cool, still. Typical May morning in Boston. The Canadian geese have been mating up a storm – which is not a good thing, there are way too many of them – and their hatchlings are everywhere along the banks of the Esplanade Lagoon. Proud and aggressive daddy geese are making sure joggers like me don’t get too close. I’m sure one of these days I’ll get nipped by a goose. I’ve also seen a few mallard ducklings, and I’ve heard lots of baby birds in the trees calling out “we want worms.”

        1. In the Public Garden, eggs are oiled so they can’t hatch and dogs are trained to chase adults away.

      1. A goose tried to attack me on my bike Tues. morning en route to work. Took flight right at me. Wild.

  1. Sun finally out in Sudbury. But windy again. Seems to be a lot of windy days lately. And the wind is making my allergy lousy today. But it does look pretty today. 🙂

Matt – hope you are feeling better. Hope the rain tomorrow helps you. My allergy can still be lousy during/after rain.

    1. Hi Rainshine. It has been filtered sun but still sun here all day. Most of the big puffy clouds are now gone, however. Wind is active here also. It has seemed as if there is a lot of wind for months now, hasn’t it?

Wind makes the little allergies I have worse but rain is what tends to bother them most. I think it is because mold is the one thing I know I am allergic to.

Hope you are well. Enjoy the day!!!

      1. I am allergic to mold too. So it’s a no win for me. I had some allergy tests almost 40 yrs. ago and found I wasn’t allergic to anything. It’s my sinuses. And, yes, it seems windy a lot lately. Especially on sunny days. Some weather reason for that, maybe, sun heating air, etc. But I recall many sunny non-windy days. In any case, it’s pretty out and regardless of my allergy, will take a little walk. *?! my allergy sucks anyway so who cares! 🙂

        1. I KNOW I am allergic to mold – our last primary care dr. who passed away 2 yrs. ago 🙁 I think mentioned it.

    2. doing better, still a bit stuffy and my eyes burns but I can at least smell the flowers. I had an allergy test done and it showed a bunch of things I am allergic to. There is a reason why when I went down south, I was able to breath. I was not allergic to anything down there.. I am also aparently allergic to dogs and cats but I feel nothin when I am around them.

      1. Glad you are feeling better. My eyes burn but sneezing a lot. I want to smell the flowers but am afraid that it will make my allergy worse. Too bad; I love flowers and how they smell. Particularly lilacs. Glad you feel nothing around cats and dogs; me too. We love our kitties and they are so special to us! 🙂

        1. Meaning you love your kitty ( you do have one now, I think?) and we have our kitty.

  2. I do believe I have been posting a lot the past few days. Kind of quiet here now. Some appts. coming up and looking forward to meeting an old high-school fd. in a few wks. Haven’t seen her in 30 or so years!

    1. Best on the appointments and I know you’ll enjoy getting together with your HS friend

  3. Beautiful Day!! Beautiful!! Beautiful!! Beautiful!!
I can’t stress this enough. BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Coming back to the office my car thermometer was reading 69.

Oh and all of the bitching about this Spring????

For the record, I have NOT worn a jacket since the beginning of the month.
(Granted, April certainly left much to be desired, but NOT May)

This month has been near PERFECT.

How’s that for me in the Spring?? 😀

  4. The clouds this morning, btw, were expected and were in the forecast above. That was the actual front moving through. There was a pre-frontal trough we had go through last evening. And now we’ll see high cloudiness streaming in from the west as the day closes and that is our impulse along the front getting ready to bring the damp & cool Saturday. It’s pretty safe to say that tomorrow will be the “crappiest” weather day of the month so far. And it’s been a pretty nifty good month, so that’s not hard to do.

      1. Still fine-tuning to do. Even in those patterns you can escape with many hours of decent weather in the middle of an unsettled stretch.

  5. The weather may not be nice tomorrow but were missing out on severe weather which looks like it could happen in northern Mid Atlantic tomorrow.

    1. We can thank our access to Eastern Canada and the North Atlantic as we miss the brunt of severe wx for the most part during spring.

    1. Let’s qualify that by pointing out 2 things…

There are not that many buoys out there per square mile, so waves larger than that have probably happened several if not numerous times. I’ll also note that they just HAD to put a picture up to make people that don’t read think that was a picture of THE wave. Not needed.

      Otherwise, that’s a pretty cool story. 🙂

  6. Liking the look so far for next Saturday. Please keep your fingers crossed!!

Re post if there anything you can do I would appreciate it

    Hi all my dear friends,

Wow i am only $450 away from initial goal of 2K !! Help me get over the finish line and start a new goal. Every bit counts! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Having just lost my Mama to cancer this is even closer to my heart. I know we all have been impacted by this awful disease. I am participating in a charity golf tournament for the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber and would appreciate any help.
