DAYS 1-5 (JANUARY 2-6)
While we have several systems to track in the days ahead, the current weather pattern finds us in a more benign set-up, with no major storms. While clouds dominate to start today, expect the sun to return, and it will be blustery and cold early winter day. The weekend carries more cold, but it eases up slightly, with fair weather much of the time. A passing disturbance can bring some very light snow or flurries to the right early Sunday while a more formidable storm system passes well to our south and misses the region. Another fairly weak system approaches the region later Monday into Tuesday with a minor precipitation chances, mostly light snow, but we may have to watch for some light mix / icing later Tuesday as milder air tries to move in.
TODAY: Clouds give way to sun. Highs 22-29. Wind NW 5-15 MPH with gusts 20-30 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 10-17. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 25-32. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Clouds move in. A snow flurry before dawn. Lows 11-18. Wind NW up to 10 MPH.
SUNDAY: Variably cloudy morning with a little light snow or flurries possible. Sun takes over later on. Highs 24-31. Wind W up to 10 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 12-29. Wind NW up to 10 MPH.
MONDAY: Increasing clouds. Highs 26-33. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of light snow or flurries. Lows 18-25. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of light snow / mix late. Highs 28-35. Wind variable to S up to 10 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (JANUARY 7-11)
Unsettled weather potentials January 7 and late January 9-10. Light mix / snow favored for first episode and mix / rain favored later in the period. No major storminess indicated. Temperatures somewhat variable but mostly near normal.
DAYS 11-15 (JANUARY 12-16)
Variable temperatures averaging around normal. While the pattern looks a little more active for precipitation, there are still no strong indications of major storminess.

Snow making at Bear Peak this morning.

Please excuse my ignorance, but where in the world is
Bear Peak? The only one I could find was at
Attitash in NH.
Those snow guns are BLASTING!!!
This is at Attitash.
Ok,thanks
Pretty cool shot of those snow guns.
A dear friend has family that lives in the North Conway area. They also ski attitash. I’m surprised with the number of years we went to N Conway that we never skied it. I cannot recall when it opened
Attitash open in January 1965 and Bear Peak opened in 1994.
Thank you. That explains why we didn’t ski it. Sort of. It was always cranmore although my dad and his buddies skied cannon often. My brother donated our dad’s Henke lace up ski boots to its museum. We were skiing Tyrol by 1965ish.
Hey we may all be in one car today? Guess that would be the engine. Wonder how big the compartment is. 4 for me also. Is that six 4s?
I believe it is. Has that ever happened yet? I don’t think so.
No Worries, someone will come in with a 3!!!!
Even if someone does, I believe this is the first time so many have had 4
We had a bunch of 4 the other day.
I remember but not everyone. Or I don’t recall it being everyone
I don’t either.
Thank you, TK.
Up to 19 from a low of 9
I Probably should NOT do this, but looking at the GFS it features a PARADE of CUTTERS over the next 16 days!!!!
4 to be precise!!!!!
I’ll probably be counting into 2027 as well.
My car is dug out and wow what a lovely day. There is little to me as lovely as bright sun on fresh snow.
Longshot. Not sure you are here but wonder what brand of digital antenna you purchased and if you like it. I also need to check my tv to see what outlets are available. It’s a number of year old
Hi Vicki,
I bought a cheapo Phillips just to see if it works. It sort of does. Can’t say I would recommend it.
You must decide if want an indoor or outdoor antenna (some do both) and the antenna size. Never believe a thing about the distances they claim to reach. They are all overstated.
I would visit antennamapa.com, popular mechanics, and Lifewire. One that is often mentioned is the Channel Master FLATenna. I do not know much about it.
You can also download LocalTV+ onto your phone or better yet an iPad. It is a Boston based non-profit with 100’s of channels including Fox. I have it on my phone and I am trying to figure out how to cast it to my TV and/or computer.
If you have an iPad, i would try this first.
I did read several digital antenna reviews / recommendations. It tends to be my first step for most everything.
I do have local tv plus from last week and I will use my iPad. It is what I was using when I pause it and then couldn’t get the game back. I just won’t pause this week. I’ll stick with it and hope the nonsense ends. Thank you very much!!!!
Thanks, TK.
Thanks tk
(And wordle: 3)
Nice Dr. we will all be in the tender again it seems. Happy driving
Very nice. I was virtually certain one of our fine players would get it in 3. Excellent job!
I always look at different changes that are put in place on the 1st of the year … laws, regulations, politicians, taxes, etc. One I found interesting is that Denmark’s post office will no longer deliver letters, just packages. If you send a letter, it will be carried by a private carrier, Dao. And they will not necessarily deliver it to your home. You might have to go to a pickup point to retrieve your mail.
Yikes
Hi all!
I’ve looked over the afternoon stuff quickly and see no need to make any changes to my blog forecast at this time.
As WxW discussed here the other day, it’s likely to be mid month before we have any shot at flipping the pattern to the type that has any chance of producing a “classic” winter storm. That doesn’t mean it will automatically happen.
That also doesn’t mean we can’t snow before that.
This is just a general idea of the larger scale picture for now. I’ll continue to monitor that aspect of it and put more focus on the shorter to medium range weather with daily updates and comments.
Cheers!
Cheers and thank you. Can we modify the cold a bit please. I’m tired of seeing heating $$ fly out the window.
Next week we trend to near to above normal temps which is a pattern that probably makes it to mid month.
And supports the cutters?
I LOATHE Cutters!!!
A few? But there’s not even a steady parade of those.
It if that is prolonged, your now into February.
Shhhhh
I’m Ok with this type of cold. Cold yes, too cold, no.
Just walked down to the center for a hair cut, very nice walk 1/2 mile each way. NO hat, I did, however, throw the gloves on. 🙂
Almost just right, imho. Just want the SNOW to go with it.
No yet, anyway.
Thank you.
Diggs and Barmore said nothing when they spoke out today. They were asked predictable questions and said nothing probably on attorney advice.
And I am OK with that. I just want them to do their thing until court, then we’ll see what’s what.
rather it stay cold and dry than have a warm up!!
FWIW, most seasonal guidance hinted at cold & dry in the overall sense this winter.
I can also tell you that there’s some increasingly strong signs of a PV stretch very similar to the one we received the cold December from, beginning after January 15 (I don’t know how long after January 15 yet).
But that stretch in December didn’t bring much snow. I Know inland got some snow. Maybe this stretch will be kinder to the coast.
